Personally, I love country music!!!

 

I can tolerate Hank Williams and Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn, throw in Bill Monroe and that is good music.

 

Anyone who hates everything just because it is a certain genre is pretty close-minded and they are missing out.

It is my belief that any group out there, no matter who they are or what type of music they play, will have at least one song that I will really like.

I wouldn't say that rap isn't music, I just don't connect with it culturally or generationally.
This is no great surprise however, as it obviously isn't directed at me as a consumer.
Back in the day, I had a certain fondness for Gil Scott Heron and also The Last Poets (who some consider to be the "Grandaddies" of rap), but not since then.

To clarify : I don't like country music, but I think it is by fat not the worst music ever. The numa numa thing just completely destroyed my faith in art, or music. The worst part of that song was, that it ran in the German charts TWICE ! from two different artists. That's just a waste ! A total waste.

I think, however, the OP is talking about 'NEW' Country Music, which is (forgive me, folks), Pop Music with a put-on Southern accent.

well, the OP obviously hasnt heard of the terms 'Sellout' or 'Marketing'. Rap does it, so does Metal, "Rock n Roll", R&B, and other genres.

As the listening audiences grow older, music (among other things) tends to change with the times. Not necessarily for the better, but change nonetheless.

 

And yet, rock music (in it's most basic form) has endured for six decades. There are derivations and evolutions, but rock is still there. It is the radical 'fad' that becomes the 'most popular' for 10 to 18 year olds every decade, but those fads usually fade.

In country music, there are still people who play, sing and write in traditional form, but you rarely hear them, because they are not in tune with the current fad.

Good observation Umpire , I enjoy listening to all kinds of music from rap to country. Real music comes from the heart, not the wallet which drives the industry today. Tammy was the queen? or was Loretta?
