My Parent's Station Wagon

When I was young, my family took trips in our Station Wagon.

My mother would say things like, "Do you see the cows? They are laying down in the pasture because it is going to rain later today."

My Dad would stop the car in the fall (like it is today) and my Mom would tell us kids to get out of the car and pick fresh apples.

I remember that I ran through the orchard and picked up a "Snow Apple" and bit into it.

OMG, it was so fresh and the meat of the apple was white as snow!

I asked my Mom, "What type of apple is this?"

She says, "That is a snow apple honey!"

I have never tasted an apple since then that was as good on that day.

Probably, it was a McIntosh, but I was young and did not know any better.

 

I use Avant. I've been using it for years, it's great.

I hadn't seen station wagons for many years, unitl I came to Yukon, then I saw quite a few, 70s to early 80s model years.
The "Country Squire" brings back good times to my memory, family trips like Nurse posted.

A station wagon saved my brother and I's life once. They can take a helluva broadside hit at highspeed and still offer protection to the occupants. Only problem is we didn't get any apple out the deal.

 

Well, we never had a station wagon, but my sister and I used to spend summers on my great-uncle's farm near Watsonville, CA, and he had apples in abundance, mostly pippins. We used to pick them off the trees and eat them. It's probably the source of my preference for tart apples, although now I'm more into Granny Smiths. He also had a raspberry patch...yum!

 

Granny Smiths are the best,,especially after being chilled for a couple of hours....I have a raspberry patch too,, wanna come fuck me for a couple of pints of berries.
