The Obama administration extended unemployment benefits out as long as 2 years and summarily eliminated the work search and availability requirements in unemployment so all those unemployed people could go back to school and "update their qualifications".
And they did.
Then Obama federalized school loans.
You know, took the banks out as middlemen.
What that meant was, all those people who had been unemployed for two years, going to school and running up big school loans, couldn't repay them because being unemployed for two years is the same as being unemployable in most economies, and the loans couldn't be eliminated through bankruptcy because one cannot get federally backed loans forgiven in bankruptcy.

And as a result of all that, almost 1.5 MILLION Americans simply dropped out of the labor force, either retiring early or settling for a much lower standard of living on the public handout circuit.

And then along came Trump. And the economy lit up, and it was so hot even those 1.5 MILLION Obama ran out of the labor force returned to the labor force.

Now, Shooter submitted the sources for all this back when Obama was fucking us over, and Trump was bailing us out. If you want, get stumbler to put on his hazmat suit and go down into the archives to find all the posts on this.
Or, you can do comparisons of labor force participation from 2000 to 2022 and read the government expert opinions about what it all meant when it was happening.
Or you can ask your neighbors, assuming they'll talk to you, about their experience during the last 15 years. Chances are, they were involved with at least part of those cycles.
Or you can just accuse Shooter of lying and ask some inane question about why Trump wanted a going away party.

First, the Great Recession was actually caused by President Bush and the conservative/Republicans cutting regulations and turning a blind eye to the greed and corruption of Wall Street. Two, the conservative /Republicans did everything in their power to make the nation fail and the people suffer while Obama was president screaming at the top of their lungs about the deficit and debt. And then three, the first thing treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans did when Trump came was cut taxers for corporations and the 1% and threw a trillion dollars at them. And then just rolled those presses, print that money, money does grow on trees that's where they got the paper to write their IOU's on. Its easy to give the appearance of a growing economy if the government is running a trillion dollar budget deficit in a time of prosperity and before anyone ever heard of COVID 19.
