Then you might consider becoming a CEO of a major corporation. They gat paid the salaries of 30 or more of their employees. One could argue that they do the work of 30 or more people, but, I doubt it.

Our singer gets $50-$100 per gig which might seem like it's good money for 3-4 hours of work. But, when you figure in the amount of time to learn the material, rehearse, dress up, and load equipment, it ends up being not much pay at all. Not to mention that if you get a sore throat, singing can be difficult. If you work in a town with a strong musician's union, and you are a member, you might get $120 per hour. Don't count on having health insurance, however, unless you have a good day job.

Now, to get the same pay as a famous singer, like Aretha Franklin or Beyonce, that would be a good dream job. I don't know exactly what they get paid for a gig, but, I estimate as a main performer, $10,000 per gig and up, depending how famous they are, what kind of establishment they play at, how many people they draw, and how good of a deal they cut for themselves.

Now, I know this is going to sound extremely weird... but my dream job, that is a real job that people do for free... that i would do if it had a paycheck attached to it...

Would be investigating claims of demonic possessions and other paranormal/supernatural experiences.

But, there is simply no paycheck in that kind of work. Indeed, it actually costs money since expenses come out of your own pocket. But... that's something i would totally do.

I have never seen anything that might have been a ghost, but I have talked to people who claimed to, and who seemed to be telling the truth. I have lived in houses built in the nineteenth century. When I was young I liked to go into old, spooky cemeteries after dark. Sometimes I would smoke marijuana. For me, that intensifies emotions. I never saw any ghosts. The scariest thing that ever happened to me was nearly getting arrested.

 

I've had some experiences of my own, pretty much those experiences keep me from being an atheist. It's like a hunger inside me that, now that I know personally this weird stuff does happen, i want to know more about it. I figure, if these things happened to me, they could happen to other people, so it all can't be tricks of the light and brain, can it ?

 

Several years ago, in a bar and restaurant I patronized, the owner told me that sometimes after closing, when he was in the basement office he heard the door open, and two men and a women walked in, laughing and talking. They played jazz music on the juke box. The problem, of course, was that the lights upstairs were off, the door was locked, and the juke box did not have jazz music.

Several days later an employee of the restaurant and bar who had lived right above it for a year or so said that he had had the same experiences. A year later I mentioned that to a bar tender in another bar. She said, "Oh, yeah. That restaurant's haunted," as if it was common knowledge.

Interestingly, an atheist friend of mine took this seriously. He suggested that I buy a voice activated recorder to give to the owner. He could put it under the counter, and see if it recorded anything. I also thought about asking if I could spend the night at the restaurant. The building was built before the Civil War. It has always been a bar and restaurant.

Unfortunately, the bar soon closed.

The existence of ghosts would not prove Christianity, but it would indicate that something of the mind can survive the death of the brain.
