Cruisers are pre-mixed drinks. You buy them in packs of four and they have heaps of flavours all containing vodka there is ; guava, pinapple, blueberry, raspberrry - just to name a few.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I do enjoy the odd bit of booze. My personal faves are:

    Guinness
    Smirnoff Ice
    Some Cocktails

I'll try almost any drink once, so I'm always expanding my horizons.

I prefer my liquor straight up, but it sometimes doesn't like me so well if I'm going to drink for a while. A little water may be added in those times, but not so much as to "drown" the liquor. If possible the water should come from a good spring, straight from the ground (just happen to have such a spring in the back of the house). Never, NEVER, should anything sweet (coke and such) be added......that's where the hangovers come from.

As to liquor I like a 10-year-old Kentucky-style Bourbon...Old Charter is the brand of choice right now. For those not into bourbon, there are Tennessee-styles (Jack Daniels) and Kentucky-styles (Jim Beam).....the Kentucky's ae much smoother while the Tennessee's have more of a "bite"......matter of taste.

I don't really care for any blended whiskey such as the Canadians (Chivas) although it is very smooth. Seems to have an aftertaste I don't care for (like fuel oil).

For the ulimate in sipping pleasure....nothing beats a good single-malt scotch. No particular brand as long as it's single-malt and 10 years old (or more.....once had a 50-year-old scotch that was to die for, and priced accordingly). Should also be served straight or with just a touch of branch water.

Just for information.....liquor has to age in the barrel. Take a bottle of 8-year-old bourbon and put it in the cabinet for another 10 years and all you have is a really dusty bottle of 8-year-old bourbon.

Sorry.....slip of the fingers....meant to type "Crown" instead of "Chivas" as an example of blended whiskey.

aren't most whiskies blendend? I thought that standard whiskies are blended but then they'll have signle barrel. Like they have jack daniels. THen they have jack daniels single barrel. as for scotch i do like my scotches. Chivas is a good one. as for age the oldest i've had is 21 years. johnnie blue is 21 right? I've had chivas 18 and johnnie gold a few times and yea the only thing that touches those are ice.

I don't like drinking things straight because i end up drinking too much. If i get johnni black on the rocks, after the 2nd one i'll start to fall in love with the taste. Then i drink faster. Then i wake up and think what the hell just happened? Then i look at my dailed calls and see i called a million people. Then i look at the text emssages and i'm like waht the hell? The other day i woke up and read one that i had sent to somebody else that said "i cant read what you wrote, the screen is too fuzzy and i cant focus."

And whats up with hating on canadian whisky? You gotta like the canadian mist that comes in a plastic bottle hahah ghetto. But yea your post prooves my point further. It seems like people are either fans of canadian whiskey(usualy crown) or they like bourban whiskies.

Most whiskies (and wiskys) are blended, with the exception of Single Malt Scotch and a few but increasingly popular number of single barrell Bourbons.

Texasguy was right to point out that Chivas isn't considered a "blended," but is a blended scotch, and that Crown is a blended Canadian whiskey. However, what is usually referred to as a "blended" whiskey at your favorite liquor store or bar is usually a blended American whiskey, such as Seagram's 7 Crown, Black Velvet, and so on.

I pretty much stopped drinking any alcoholic drinks a few years ago. Still imbibe if I am at a cocktail party but only to be sociable. I tend to lean towards tequila drinks. If I had to pick a brand it would be Jose Cuervo. My two favorite tequila drinks are margaritas....frozen/blended with heavy rim salt....and tequila mary's which is basically a bloody mary made with tequila. Some people call them bloody mariah's.

I have spent a lot of time in Mexico....vacations, dirt bike riding, etc. Usually drink some beer when I am there and kind of like Modelo.

Aside from the obvious choices of high end tequillas i'd say my favorite tequilla is a souza. I've had tequilla lots and lots and lots of times but 90% of the time its shots and the other 10 is margaritas. Personaly, i like margaritas on ice, if thats the right way to say it, i dont nkow. You know, not blended but poured over ice.

If you like Gentleman Jack, be sure to give Woodford Reserve a try. It's made by the Brown-Forman company (the same company that brings you Jack D's) and I like it even more.

I need to party with girls like you more often. I'm glad to say i'm back in action with shots too. I've just made a more concentrated effort and i can knock shots back all day. I finaly tried gin and tonic and i gotta say, i like it. I was making them pretty strong and on my third drink i mixed gin and orange juice. I'm not sure if it was because i was already use to the taste, i was buzzing already, or what it it was, but man that was even better.

What are some high end vodkas? My birthday is coming up and me and my brother always buy eachother alcohols and he was asking me what i want. I've already said in this thread that i like whiskies, haven't tried tennesse ones yet, so what do you guys recommend? My first choice is a higher end vodka but if higher end vodka doesn't taste much better than i'd want something else. But yea, "higher end" means like around $50 for the 750 size, we're not ballers yet so its not true high-end shit, but high-end for us.

On a side note, how much is a fifth? Is it the 375 ML size or the 750 ML size?

I swear by Hangar One. Not Ketel One, Hangar One.
Also, Chopin is really fucking good.
Try Stoli Elit if you get the chance.

They don't really taste better, they just taste less.

No matter what vodka you're drinking, it's going to burn if you aren't ready for it.

I actualy like vodkas. I felt special when i made an assesment on absolute. Maybe i heard it somewhere long ago and i subconiously remembered it, but i've always thought that Absolut Vodka isn't that good. It tasted too chemicaly and i dunno, mediciny or something. Then one time i was reading a random review and it compared skyy, absolut, greygoose, and some frenchy one that used grapes and 3 of the panelists said sample B (absolut) had a chemical taste to it. But yea, i love me some greygoose. The most common vodka i get though is the smirnoff tripple distilled. It's 100 proof and its only $13-15 for the 750 size.

You're totally right. In a blind test of 14 vodkas (acutally sponsored by Absolut) I sure thought Absolut was one of the crappier vodkas. I chose Chopin. But in Absolut's defence, their flavored vodkas are just about the best around. Except for 3 Olives Grape. It's so good it's dangerous. I could drink that shit until I die.

That would be Ciroc. I like it a lot, but if you drink it straight you'll actually pick up hints of citrus. It's strange, and it's good with oj or sprite or maybe in a bloody, but not in a martini.

That's the Blue Label. Decent vodka, but I wouldn't drink it straigt or on the rocks. Maybe in a flavored martini.
