Anyway no to be picky but the PL is for English clubs and Scotland always make a point of stating they are not English and want nothing to do with English, so yeah i see no reason for them to enter.

 

and remember they left the league to form their own so if its not working for them let them live with it

Both Rangers and Celtic have played in the Uefa cup final in the last 5 years or so.
Didnt celtic knock 'pool outa the uefa cup in '03.
Havent they both been in the Uefa cup final in last 5/6 years; rangers more recently?
They may well be relegated to C/ship, but NEVER to league 1. Start talking football sense willya.

 

Rangers and Celtic play each other 4 times a year and we all know each other are the only real opposition they come up against (no disrespect to other teams). It's like Man U playin pre season frienly's all season appart from 4 games.

Being in the PL having to play decent teams week in week out, we will soon see the standard they are. Which is chamipionship (not league 1 ).

Anyway I think Rangers will be stuggling to finish in the top 2 in the next few seasons with admin knocking on the door.

Nowhere in PL rules does it specify teams have to be English. There are a number of precedents, also:
Berwick Rangers (england) played in Scottish league.
Gretna (scottish) played in english pyramid system.
Cardiff (welsh) play in English league.

By the way, there's always a chance that Cardiff could qualify for the EPL.

I advovcated as early as 1992 that Rangers or Celtic should buy out a Championship team (or league 1), put money into them and get them to the EPL, then declare a change of club name and venue ( a la MK Dons; if you want a precedent).
Both teams coulda done it then; now Rangers would struggle as they have no money.

Also, you'll find that Celtic are among the top 20 richest teams, and they come second only to ManU in support EVERY home game.
Give the Old Firm 2 or 3 years at the Sky-money-gravy-train, then both would make a difference in the PL

 

Come now jay, are you trying to say that either of these teams could do well in the PL even qualify for the CL??
As had already been pointed out, the hardest teams these two play is each other, i can't see them coping very well with PL teams every week.

As for specifiying that teams have to be English, very true it does not however it was the Scottish that wanted out of the PL, thinking they were too good for the English, so they have made their bed and now they can lie in it.
Can you really see any English clubs actually wanting to make way for them?? And quite frankly i don't see why they should.

This is just my opinion, but i for one am glad the whole idea has been scapped.

 

EUFA Cup Final in Manchester.

A couple of years ago Rangers played in the EUFA Cup final in Manchester at the City of Manchester Stadium.

I am sure they were housed in the Bell End because that is how they acted. They completely trashed the city centre. I personally do not go to many premier league games but it is years since I have seen any real trouble. Inviting Rangers and Celtic in would be an accident waiting to happen.

Dont seem to remember Scottish teams being banned from European ties for 5 years because people were killed.
About 1% of 150,000 rangers fans went berserk because the live feed they were promised never materialised......NO-ONE was killed!!
Scottish fans have NEVER had the rep of english fans in Europe

They would struggle.......at first. You have to remember that Scottish teams have been starved of money for years; they havent been suckling at Rupert Murdoch's Sky teat.
It is right that they are not allowed in the EPL, at the moment, but bigger competition is only around the corner, and they WILL be invited to play in it.
I didnt believe that EPL teams would vote them in, theres no need, their greed is already being met by sky.
I'll tell you this though, they'd be in, in a country second if it somehow meant greater revenue/power to certain clubs.

The reason for Welsh teams being in the English league is the english football league was made before the Welsh had a proper one.

When the football league was founded it was not called the English FL, this was to attract teams from the other home nations.

 

Sorry what i meant was they were the ones that left the league to start their own so now they can deal with the consequences of that decision.

Hence the saying "made their bed and now can lie in it". ^_^

 

Point taken and it was not that it never materialized the live feed failed which I suppose would try the patience of most of us and considering the rogue booze vendors had been selling the stuff since breakfast, the 1500 that did go beserk made a hell of mess of Piccadilly.

I agree with this. I think Celtic have a huge selling point. Given a few years in PL with money thrown at them they could do well. But if they were just thrown in to the PL next season they would struggle.

But I would hate it if them two came down here as the PL would just be a huge money making scam (even more than it is anyway). I'd refuse to watch it. End of.

 

By the way, i think it was Gartside(?), Bolton chairman who put the proposal up. What the hell benefit could it do Bolton, they might just be in the bottom 3 come May?

I never followed the story cos there was no way oin this god's earth that Old firm (OF) were EVER going to be voted in.
There would need to be some sorta wholescale rebuilding/readjustment of the leagues.
I would like to see OF in English leagues, but they wouldnt be in the EPL, perhaps 2nd tier. The violence is the killer i fear (no pun intended)
Ppl dont want that kinda thing, and why should they take the chance?

I bit off track but as a Celtic fan what do you think of Samaras. When he played in Holland for Herenveen, I think, he could not stop scoring. At City he could not hit a barn door and he was so slow.

rangers and celtic use a helluva lot of energy up in all aspects of each club in order to do well in european games. this leaves them fortunate to have the opposition they have in the spl which allows them to compete generally against each other only for league titles.

with the stronger oposition week in week out in the championship i am absolutely 101% confident that they would struggle very much so.
