Shep Smith Methodically Fact-Checks Both Fox News And Trump On Live TV

Fox’s Judge Napolitano: If NYT China Report True, Trump May Have Done What He Criticized Hillary Clinton Over

On Wednesday, Judge Andrew Napolitano weighed in the New York Times bombshell reporting that China has been listening in on President Donald Trump‘s phone calls by pointing out if the New York Times’ report is true, the President could be guilty of the same crime that he has pointed fingers at Hillary Clinton for committing.

After being asked what the implication of the Times’ report, Judge Napolitano said this on Fox Business: “The implication of this I am sorry to say is the same implication that the president used as a battering ram against Mrs. Clinton when he ran against her. And that is the failure to safeguard state secrets, which is called espionage. Is President Trump guilty of the same crimes for which he alleged Mrs. Clinton was guilty?”

Host Elizabeth MacDonald then noted, “We don’t know that yet.”

The judge then admitted that was true but added, “We don’t know if he’s going to admit this or if it’s accurate.”

He continued, “According to one of the pieces that we just got, and we didn’t get the full story, we got the headline, General[John] Kelly and his close aides, I can guess who the others are, have been warning him for months not to do this but he enjoys calling people on the iPhone. If that is true, then he was on notice that he is revealing things about his personality and his plans and maybe things that are secret in a way that his adversaries can hear… I mean our enemies, sworn enemies.”

He added, though, that before going further “we have to read the full story” but admitted the Times report does not sound good for Trump.

But let us be clear here. If there wasn't 11 people just massacred in a Synagogue and a bomb sent to George Soros Fox wouldn't have pulled this. Fox Business Network on Sunday said that it was pulling an episode of Lou Dobbs Tonight after a guest asserted that billionaire George Soros had infiltrated the State Department as a part of a conspiracy to assist a caravan of migrants traveling from Central America.

According to Variety, Fox Business made the decision to take the episode out of rotation due to “social media pushback” after 11 were killed in a synagogue shooting on Saturday. A day before the shooting, a Fox Business guest had blamed Soros, who is Jewish, for the caravan. Slate suggested over the weekend that the shooter may have picked up the conspiracy theory after watching Fox.

“We condemn the rhetoric by the guest on Lou Dobbs Tonight,” Fox Business executive Gary Schreier said in a statement. “This episode was a repeat which has now been pulled from all future airings.”

On the Thursday episode of Dobbs’ show, Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch connected Soros to the caravan without offering any evidence.

“A lot of these folks have affiliates that are getting money from the Soros-occupied State Department,” Farrell declared.

Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo pointed out that Farrell used the term “ZOG,” which is “a staple of white supremacist/neo-Nazi websites/literature etc.”

Fox News’ Shepard Smith Rebukes Caravan Fear-Mongering: ‘There Is No Invasion, No One’s Coming to Get You’

On Monday, Shepard Smith offered some counter-programming to his Fox News opinion show cohorts by refuting the recent fear mongering over the migrant caravan on the move in Central America.

The topic came up as Smith held a discussion on the gunman who attacked a synagogue in Pittsburg last week. Smith noted that beyond the shooter’s anti-Semitism, the shooter also seemed to buy into the conspiracy theory that Jews were financially backing the migrant caravan as it approaches the U.S. Southern border.

Numerous conservative figures have stirred up fears in America lately by characterizing the migrants as an invading army, though Smith didn’t have any patience for that rhetoric, calling the migrants the “the not-coming-to-get-you, not caravan of invaders that politicians are using to gin up fear.”

“You turn up the crazies and the crazies come out,” Smith eventually said.

Later on, Smith turned to the news that the U.S. Military will send thousands of troops down south to deter the approaching migrants (who are still about 1,000 miles away from the border). To that point, Smith noted that all of the recent conversations about the caravan is really about next week’s midterm elections.

“There is no invasion. No one’s coming to get you. There is nothing at all to worry about. When they did this to us, got us all riled up in April, the result was 14 arrests. We are America. We can handle it.”

Fox & Friends worries about ‘shrapnel’ from Trump demonizing media: ‘It does a lot of damage’

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade criticized President Donald Trump for calling media “the enemy of the people” because it “does a lot of damage” to unintended targets.

On Tuesday’s edition of Fox & Friends, co-host Steve Doocy noted that Trump has insisted that he is only talking about “fake news” when he calls media outlets “the enemy of the people.”

“I really wish he would lose that term,” Kilmeade lamented. “It doesn’t help anybody. It doesn’t push back on the media that he wants to push back on. And I think it gets too many other people shrapnel with that statement.”

“The press isn’t the enemy of the people,” he continued. “Some of the things they say and the way they stack their shows, the president could look at [that] as though they are targeting him and he’s got a case.”

*Kilmeade added: “But that broad statement does a lot of damage.”

“He doesn’t like them,” Doocy agreed. “But are they enemy of the people? I don’t think so.”

Fox News’ Outnumbered seemed rather impressed with the speech Oprah Winfrey gave to support Stacey Abrams‘s (D) campaign to become governor of Georgia.

The talk show carried Winfrey’s address live on Thursday — during which she fired up the crowd with a rousing call for people to get out and vote in the midterm elections. When the panel returned at the speech’s conclusion, Melissa Francis began by saying Winfrey is “truly a master” of public speaking, and “she threads the needle of inclusion in a really interesting way.”

“A lot of celebrities can raise money for you if you are running political office,” Dagen McDowell added. “Oprah Winfrey has a spiritual connection with so much of this country, and it was built over years and years of doing that talk show. I said, when we were watching it, I said ‘If that women can get folks to eat pizza with a cauliflower crust on it, she is going to get that woman elected.'”

Lisa Boothe tried to steer the conversation towards Abrams’ policies, though Jessica Tarlov teased her for killing everyone’s good mood over Winfrey. Tarlov continued by drawing parallels to Winfrey and Michelle Obama, saying both use their speeches to promote important values.

Fox viewers fume after Chris Wallace wonders if Obama could beat Trump: ‘This is sycophant BS like on CNN!’

While interviewing on Fox News Shep Smith’s Friday show, Chris Wallace questioned who would win in a battle between Barack Obama and President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Obama was campaigning for Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum (D-FL) in Miami.

Wallace praised Obama for his speech giving skills and wondered if he could have beaten Trump.

“Political speechify is a great thing to watch,” Wallace said. “You think could Barack Obama have beaten Trump?”

He added, “Historically when Barack Obama is on the ballot he is unbeatable, but when he is not and out there speechifying it doesn’t always work.”

However, his slight hint of Obama beating Trump made some Fox News viewers flip out on Twitter.

“And Chris Wallace is calling Obama a winner right now. WTF!! Asked if Obama could have beaten Trump. Give me a break FoxNews is CNN,” a user tweeted.

‘What the hell is happening’: Fox News viewers lose it after network shows more of Obama’s Georgia rally than Trump’s

Fox News viewers were furious at their network of choice after they said more of President Barack Obama’s rally in Georgia was shown than President Donald Trump’s.

Fox News hasn’t been showing many of the Trump rallies as he’s taken to the states begging his supporters to vote for Republican candidates. It’s unclear if the decision was made by the network as a rating decision since the president generally repeats the same talking points. However, when speaking to the press several weeks ago, Trump said he’s “have to see about” the fact that Fox wasn’t carrying his rallies live. It’s still unknown what that meant or if the president reached out to the network, but they haven’t changed their programming.

Whatever the reasons, Fox’s viewers took to Twitter with their anger, demanding the network nix the Obama coverage and give them more of the man they love.

NBC on Sunday offended millions of its viewers by airing a racist immigration ad promoted by President Donald Trump — but on Monday, it quickly backtracked and said it would no longer run the spot.

And it’s not just NBC that has gotten second thoughts about the ad, which depicts asylum seekers trying to gain lawful entry into the United States as potential psychopathic killers — it’s Fox News too.

According to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Fox News has decided it will no longer air the president’s racist ad on either of its two cable news channels.

“Upon further review, FOX News pulled the ad yesterday and it will not appear on either FOX News Channel or FOX Business Network,” ad sales president Marianne Gambelli tells Stelter.

Fox News legal analyst says Trump violated the law by appointing Matt Whitaker as acting attorney general

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions to step down.

Trump announced that in replacement of Sessions, Matt Whitaker would become the new acting attorney general.

However, Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano explained to Fox News host Dana Perino how Trump could be breaking the law with his new appointee.

Napolitano explained that Whitaker was not confirmed by the Senate and therefore violates the law.

“Under the law, the person running the Department of Justice must have been approved by the United States Senate for some previous position. Even on an interim post,” Napolitano said.

Napolitano continued saying that next in line for the position is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

*“[Whitaker] was not confirmed by the United States Senate for a leadership position at the Justice Department. The White House will have to work this out. Who has been confirmed and who’s next in line? Deputy attorney general Rosenstein,” he said.

*There is also another little legal wrinkle. Trump can appoint someone to fll a job when someone "resigns." But he cannot make a temporary appointment for someone who Trump fires. And legal experts are pointing out that in Sessions letter he states "as per your request." Which translates to he was fired not resigning of his own free will.

Fox’s Andrew Napolitano: Matt Whitaker ‘Not Legally Qualified’ to Be Acting Attorney General

Andrew Napolitano said President Donald Trump has “every right” to choose who he wants to head up the Department of Justice. But according to Fox News’ senior judicial analyst, Matt Whitaker, the president’s choice to be acting AG, is “not legally qualified” to serve in the position.

Napolitano appeared on Fox & Friends Thursday to talk about how Trump picked Whitaker to serve as acting AG after Jeff Sessions resigned at his request. Napolitano said Whitaker is “absolutely” professionally qualified for the job, but that he isn’t “legally qualified” for the job.

“There’s only three ways a person can become acting attorney general,” Napolitano said. He explained: 1. If you are the deputy attorney general, a position currently held by Rod Rosenstein; 2. If you work in the DOJ and have a job that requires Senate confirmation. 3. If there’s a recess appointment.

Napolitano added that Trump “has every right to have whoever he wants run the Justice Department.”

“He has chosen someone who does not qualify under the law to be the acting attorney general of the United States,” he said.

When Steve Doocy pointed out that Whitaker already swore an oath of office for his previous job in the DOJ and doesn’t have to do it again, Napolitano responded “I believe that’s a political response, not a legal one.” Ainsley Earhardt asked if there was a way for Whitaker to become eligible for AG full time, which prompted Napolitano to say “if he is the acting attorney general he is disqualified from becoming the attorney general.”

Antifa protesters chant outside Fox's Tucker Carlson's home, break door

A group of angry Antifa protestors gathered outside of Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson's home on Wednesday evening.

The anti-fascists group, possibly associated with Smash Racism D.C., chanted "Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night" outside of Carlson's Washington home, according to Fox News. In a video posted online, the group can also be heard saying, "Racist scumbag, leave town!"

Carlson's wife, Susie, was home alone at the time. He told Fox she locked herself into a pantry and called police.

The host of "Tucker Carlson Tonight" said the group broke his oak door and one person mentioned a pipe bomb, as heard on a security video.

“Here’s the problem, I have four children,” he told Fox. “I never thought twice about leaving them home alone, but this is the reaction because this group doesn’t like my TV show.”

Smash Racism D.C., posted Carlson's family address on Twitter in a now-deleted post, The Daily Caller reports. Carlson told Fox the home addresses of his brother and his former college roommate, Neil Patel, who co-founded "The Daily Caller" with him, were also made public.

The group's Twitter account was suspended as of Thursday morning.

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and the network's president, Jay Wallace, issued a joint statement calling the incident "reprehensible" and "unacceptable."

"We as a nation have become far too intolerant of different points of view," the statement said. "Recent events across our country clearly highlight the need for a more civil, respectful, and inclusive national conversation. Those of us in the media and in politics bear a special obligation to all Americans to find common ground.”

Fox News commentator Brit Hume called the incident "revolting, and frightening."
