So shooter, why did Fox news pundits continually promote Trump's stolen election allegations. ON what evidence did Fox support Trumps efforts to overturn a national election?

    Any thoughts? ;)

Fox News hyped the bogus FBI informant claims against Biden. Now it’s refusing to walk them back
    Analysis by Oliver Darcy, CNN

Editor’s Note: A version of this article first appeared in the “Reliable Sources” newsletter. Sign up for the daily digest chronicling the evolving media landscape here.

Days after explosive bribery claims about President leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom" data-wf-reset-every="90">Joe Biden came ripping apart at the seams, Fox News and the broader MAGA Media universe have declined to walk back their factually-challenged narrative.

Instead, unscrupulous right-wing media figures have stuck by their corruption claims against Biden, which permeated the conservative information space to such a degree that they spawned Republican-led investigations on Capitol Hill and fueled an eventual impeachment inquiry against the sitting president.

In fact, in the wake of Special Counsel David Weiss charging the FBI informant, Alexander Smirnov, with fabricating the bribery allegations against Biden, some prominent right-wing personalities have used the revelation as supposed evidence of an even deeper conspiracy theory, suggesting that the Biden administration weaponized federal law enforcement in retaliation against Smirnov for revealing the supposed scheme.

“He was too credible,” Fox News host Jesse Watters told his sizable prime time audience in the wake of the informant’s arrest, baselessly suggesting Biden “is locking up the source” to “discredit” the allegations against him.

Sean Hannity, the GOP propagandist who has spent years using his powerful media perch to dishonestly attack Biden, delivered the news to his audience in a similarly heavy-handed way. Hannity reacted to the implosion of his narrative by deflecting and questioning the credibility of various news outlets, ranting about their previous coverage of the Steele dossier and what he decried as the “Trump Russia collusion hoax.” He also assailed the integrity of Weiss, suggesting he is a Democratic hack, despite Weiss having been appointed U.S. attorney by Donald Trump. Then, after berating Weiss’ credibility, in his next breath Hannity portrayed Smirnov as having been credible.

While Fox News’ stable of hosts have declined to properly correct the record, the outlet’s supposedly non-partisan news website has also failed to update its “EXCLUSIVE” reporting from last summer publicly surfacing the informant’s false claims. Articles by reporter Brooke Singman advancing Smirnov’s bribery allegations remain unaltered on the FoxNews.com website without a correction or mention that the one-time FBI informant has been charged with lying to the federal law enforcement about the very claims she reported.

The lack of a retraction or any real sign of contrition comes as the Smirnov allegations continue to implode in spectacular fashion. In court documents filed by Weiss on Tuesday, the special counsel said Smirnov admitted during an interview with law enforcement that “officials associated with Russian intelligence were involved in passing” along dirt on the Biden family.

“The false information he provided was not trivial. It targeted the presumptive nominee of one of the two major political parties in the United States,” Weiss underscored. “The effects of Smirnov’s false statements and fabricated information continue to be felt to this day.”

But when presenting the news to its viewers on Wednesday, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner framed the story around the network’s chief villains, stating “Democrats and much of the media are insisting this is all a huge blow to the impeachment inquiry effort.” Faulkner added that Republicans “say there is a lot of evidence,” though she was apparently unable to do the math herself and conclude that the central witness being charged by federal authorities for fabricating claims is, indeed, a big blow to the impeachment effort.

While Fox News’ audience, like other cable outlets, has fallen in recent years, the significance of its behavior cannot be overstated. The network functions as the main organ in the right-wing media universe and has tremendous influence over the Republican Party base. By refusing to fully acknowledge the false claims and press GOP lawmakers on their relentless promotion of it, Fox News is effectively giving GOP lawmakers permission to continue doing so. In fact, the outlet creates an incentive structure for Republicans to double down on their corruption claims, given they will be rewarded with airtime on the network’s highly rated programs.

A Fox News spokesperson did not off me a comment on the network’s coverage of the revelations surrounding the informant.

The behavior, however, is par for the course for the right-wing network, which is notorious for poisoning the public discourse with dishonest propaganda aimed at propping up Trump and assailing his political opponents. Fox News rarely admits mistakes and often sticks with narratives long after they have been debunked.

Even after the Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch-controlled company paid a historic $787 million to settle its election lies-related lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems, the network declined to run an on-air retraction. In the time since, Lachlan has publicly voiced support for Fox News’ dishonest election coverage, which helped create the conditions that led to the violent January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Tim Miller, the former Republican political operative turned author, MSNBC contributor, and Bulwark writer-at-large, predicted that Fox News will never retract their Burisma claims, telling me they “have a psychological and political need for it to be true.”

“The Smirnov indictment reveals that Republican leadership in the House is advancing literal Russian propaganda about the president,” Miller said. “This should be a massive triple red siren story and yet conservative media is unbowed and completely at peace with doing Putin’s dirty work. [It’s] astounding.”

Fox News takes Trump off air to fact-check South Carolina speech

Fox News cut off Donald Trump's speech at a rally in South Carolina to fact-check comments he made on Friday, 23 February. Neil Cavuto spoke over coverage of the former president's event to tell viewers: "He’s entitled to his opinions, he’s not entitled to his own set of facts... The market has indeed been going up but having nothing to do with him.

"Judges picked by Donald Trump himself found no evidence of a [rigged election] in seven battleground states," he added.

Fox News cut away from its coverage of a House hearing Wednesday as soon as one of the witnesses testified that Russia was behind allegations against President Joe Biden.

While the hearing was on impeachment, a much-talked-about topic at Fox News, the network did not spend much time covering it after Lev Parnas, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani and a witness called by the Democrats, began speaking.

"The American people have been lied to by Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and various cohorts of individuals in government and media positions," he told the House Oversight Committee. "They created falsehoods to serve their own interests, knowing it would undermine the strength of our nation."

ALSO READ: House Republican giggles over Hitler praise — and admits he never listens to Trump

Parnas explained how Giuliani had tasked him with traveling to Ukraine to gather "dirt" on Biden's family.

"The only information ever pushed on the Bidens in Ukraine has come from one source, and one source only — Russia and Russian agents," Parnas declared.

"The impeachment proceedings that bring us here now are predicated on false information spread by the Kremlin."

At that point, Fox News stopped carrying live coverage of the hearing.

"So this is a bit of a preview right now," anchor Bill Hemmer offered as the program moved away from broadcasting the live footage. "This hearing is going to be hot, so stand by for more on that."

One of the keys to brainwashing is the victims don't know they are brainwashed. But when it comes to Fox News I have always wondered how they can get away with that. How is it possible for Fox News to scream treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans must impeach President Biden before he even took his oath of office. Scream that all day every day since. And then do a 180 and start saying the opposite. How is it possible not to notice something that big?

'Disaster': Fox News accused of goading GOP into impeachment then throwing party under bus

Fox News did more than practically any other organization to goad House Republicans into launching an impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden — and now that the project is falling apart, it's throwing the same lawmakers under the bus, argued Media Matters' Matt Gertz for MSNBC.

The investigation centered on theories that Biden laundered international bribes through the foreign business dealings of his son Hunter but, despite a long series of hearings held by the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees, no hard evidence has been found. The most recent hearing, featuring Hunter Biden's former business partner Tony Bobulinski as the GOP's star witness, went completely off the rails.

Even Fox News anchors now understand this, Gertz wrote. Sean Hannity initially promised to reveal the most damning "highlights" from the Bobulinski hearing on Wednesday, but when no such highlights were good for the GOP he immediately switched gears and talked about Biden's poll numbers.

"Hannity did more than perhaps any other single figure to will the impeachment probe into existence," wrote Gertz. "Since 2018, he has led a Fox propaganda campaign aimed at using lies about the younger Biden’s foreign business interests to damage his father’s political standing.

ALSO READ: Here's why conservative elites are bailing on Trump now

"The resulting House Republican impeachment effort has both followed Fox’s lead and played out in large part on its airwaves. But it has utterly failed to produce evidence of wrongdoing by the president that would convince anyone other than the network’s most fervent fans."

As the impeachment inquiry has become an "unmitigated debacle" for the GOP, Gertz continued, Fox anchors are now beginning to attack the very Republican lawmakers who are doing what they demanded in the first place, with Dana Perino complaining they, “Just keep doing the same hearing over and over again, and people are starting to wonder, at some point do you fish or cut bait?”

Ultimately, he concluded, "The big tell that the case is collapsing came from Hannity. He gave the hearing only a couple of minutes of airtime in the middle of his opening monologue ... He didn’t bring on any of the committee chairs to expound on what they had proven, or his typical legal analysts to accuse Biden of crimes. Instead, he just moved on to other topics."

House Republicans, he added, would do well to follow Hannity's lead.

'Lost $4 billion': Maria Bartiromo grills Devin Nunes on Truth Social sell-off

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo highlighted revenue losses suffered by Donald Trump's Truth Social platform.

During a Sunday interview with Truth Social CEO Devin Nunes, Bartiromo reviewed the company's financial condition.

"President Trump's media company has had a volatile two weeks," she noted. "The stock finished down about 30% this week. The company, which operates Trump's Truth Social platform, lost $4 billion in market value after gaining six billion in value during its debut on the Nasdaq two weeks ago."

"For 2023, Trump media posted a loss of $58 million on revenue and $4.1 million [profit] in a regulatory filing," she continued. "The company also disclosed that its auditor had raised concerns about its ability to continue operating before its recent merger and IPO."

The Fox News host then welcomed Nunes.

"I was looking at the filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the loss," Bartiromo said. "When would you expect this company to turn profitable?"

ALSO READ: A criminologist explains why keeping Trump from the White House is all that matters

Nunes blamed the losses on overregulation.

"So even if you take the ridiculous cost that it took us to get to this point, we are well positioned," he said. "Because we have no debt. We're coming out of this with no debt, a platform that works really, really well, that communicates to millions of people. And then we have $200 million in the bank."

"There's never been a company like this," he added. "And we're really the only game in town that can accomplish this."

"Those are all the issues that we're that we're focused on and including, you know, making sure that we're dealing with like a three-year plan here where we can go out and put this whole company together where we're not relying on big tech."

Treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans have to go to extremes because they are always confronted with the anti abortion paradox. They claim life begins at conception and that abortion is murdering an innocent human life. But Hannity is right the vast majority of Americans believe there should be exceptions for rape and incest. But if treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans agree to make those exceptions it proves their whole stance is a lie. Because a frets created by rape or incest is innocent and had nothing to do with the act of rape or incest.

'Political suicide': Sean Hannity warns Republicans must drop 'extreme position' — or lose

A prominent Fox News host is warning Republicans that their extremist position on abortion loses elections and — if they don't allow for exceptions to the procedure — it will result in "political suicide."

Fox News host Sean Hannity joined Fox & Friends this Monday and responded to Donald Trump's recent announcement of his "official policy" on abortion, where he said the decision should be left to the states.

"The states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land," Trump said in his announcement. "Many states will be different. Many will have a different number of weeks, or some will be more conservative than others and that's what they will be. At the end of the day, this is all about the will of the people."

Also read: Bragg trashes Trump's hush money recusal motion for 'vanishingly small number of facts'

During the Fox segment, Hannity said, "I have been warning Republicans and conservatives on abortion for a long time, and I've been saying that you'd better be careful ... that Democrats are going to demagogue the issue of abortion."

Hannity went on to say that Roe v. Wade was "always bad law," and what Trump did was put it in the hands of the states and not at the federal level. He added that Trump confronted the "extremism on this issue regarding abortion" from Democrats, who Hannity says don't want any limits on the procedure.

But Hannity added that "any Republican that would take a position — no exceptions for rape, incest, or the mother's life — that is political suicide."

"Any Republican that calls for a flat-out ban ... that would be outright suicide," Hannity continued. "But I'll tell you one thing, and this would be an admonition for any conservative or any Republican running ... if you're going to take that extreme position, you are going to lose votes."

'Uh...': Fox News ridiculed after claiming 'libraries turned into drug-infested sex dens'

A lot of Americans will be checking out their local libraries after Fox News ran a segment on their transition into "drug-infested sex dens."

Host Jesse Watters told his fellow Fox News panelists Thursday that an under-reported crime spree had spread through public library systems and he had one person to blame.

"Libraries are no longer safe in [President] Joe Biden's America," Watters declared. The show cut to a brief report on the New York Post's reporting on librarians' safety woes.

One lone Fox News panelist tried to point out that crime is decreasing across the nation and in major cities, but was quickly shouted down by Jeanine Pirro.

"Do you really believe that?" Pirro demanded to know. "Do you walk outside?"

After the segment made its way to social media, many X users declared themselves ready to investigate the matter for themselves.

"I'm going to need a list of these libraries to verify this for myself, and uh... tell them to stop it," replied @jank_jennifer. "Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket."

Mike Johnson embarrassed on Fox News by suggesting he doesn't know noncitizens can't vote

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Sunday pressed for a new law against immigrants voting in federal elections while Fox News reported on an existing law that already prohibits noncitizens from voting.

"You talked with President Trump on Friday about ensuring a transparent and safe election," Fox News host Maria Bartiromo told Johnson on Sunday Morning Futures. "Do you have any evidence that the Democrats are pushing for illegals to vote in this election?"

"They've allowed it in some municipal elections," Johnson said. "What Congress has control over is federal elections. We have to do every single thing we can to secure that our elections are free and fair."

"One thing we need to do, and this is what we're about, the House Republicans are about to enter legislation into the record, that will ensure that no illegal can vote in a federal election," he continued. "You have to prove you're a citizen instead of, as the law currently states, just checking a box to say it."

ALSO READ: 11 ways Trump doesn’t become president

As Johnson spoke, Fox News displayed the text of an existing law, 18 USC 611, which prohibits voting by aliens in presidential elections.

"Maria, we have so many illegals in the country," he opined. "They could tilt the election if this happened."

"If just one in a hundred illegals decided to vote in a federal election, it could swing congressional races, and it might even swing presidential elections," he added. "You could talk about hundreds of thousands of votes, potentially."

"So we have to do everything possible to make sure that this election is secure."

Fox personality accused of 'jury tampering' by U.S. congressman after Trump tweet

A Fox personality’s social media post on Monday is raising eyebrows, as one U.S. Congressman calls it “jury tampering” and a legal expert suggests it could be “conspiring to commit jury tampering.”

Clay Travis is an attorney and the founder of the conservative “sports and American culture” website Outkick, which was purchased by the Fox Corporation in 2021.

His Fox News bio calls him “the founder of the fastest-growing national multimedia platform,” and, “One of the most electrifying and outspoken personalities in the industry,” who “provides his unfiltered opinion on the most compelling headlines throughout sports, culture, and politics.”

On Monday, Travis’ account on X displayed a post that reads: “If you’re a Trump supporter in New York City who is a part of the jury pool, do everything you can to get seated on the jury and then refuse to convict as a matter of principle, dooming the case via hung jury. It’s the most patriotic thing you could possibly do.”

“Jury tampering. That’s what they do. *It’s a felony,” wrote U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) in response.

National security attorney Bradley Moss weighed in, writing, “Clay is arguably conspiring to commit jury tampering here by encouraging someone to deliberately engage in jury nullification. Not a wise move by Clay.”

Sirius XM host Dean Obeidallah, also an attorney, commented, “Hoping Manhattan DA is aware of this attempted jury tampering by Fox News regular Clay Travis.”

He also wrote: “This is the exact type of juror tampering I knew Trumpers would engage in. Next Clay will tell Trumpers to bribe jurors or witnesses. MAGA is a cancer!”

Travis, responding to Congressman Swalwell, denied the allegation:

“This isn’t jury tampering you imbecile. I would nullify if I were seated on this jury as a matter of principle. I think all Americans with a comprehension of basic justice should do the same.”

    Ah. We see.
The liberals cooked up this phony hush money thingy, one of many cases aimed at distracting Trump from the campaign, and of course to suck up a bunch of his ill-gotten BILLIONS and (maybe, perhaps, dare we hope?) get him kicked off the ballot.

But now they can see where a not guilty finding, cause, you know, jury, could jam up the plan. See, this isn't a liberal agenda running judge who can decide the outcome of the case before the first witness is heard. In the end it goes to a jury. And the thing with a jury is, if only one juror votes NOT GUILTY then we have a 12 angry men thing and that, as they say, would not go well with headquarters. One person could actually force a finding of innocence! GAWDAMMIT!!

So, they're salting the claim, as it were. Plant in the minds of the public that by GOD TRUMP IS JURY TAMPERING!! so that should the worst happen, and Bragg/Merchan lose control of the jury and actually lose this case, they can start shouting right away about jury tampering.

    Brilliant. Whatever it takes, eh?

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has garnered herself a lot of critics for her divisive politics — and one of them works for Fox News.

Liz Peek, a contributor to Fox News and financial writer, dismantled the Georgia rabble rouser in a scathing op-ed on Wednesday emblazoned with the headline: “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot. She is trying to wreck the GOP.” And in the very first paragraph, Peek accuses Greene of exhibiting “bombastic self-serving showmanship and drama queen energy” that should be aimed towards Democrats and not her own party.

After referring to Greene’s “wild antics and equally harebrained conspiracy theories” on the House floor, as well as her insults of fellow Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Peek laid into Greene’s motion to vacate Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) — writing that Greene “would rather burn down the House, metaphorically speaking, than work towards the greater good. The greater good, unless she and her fellow discontents in Congress have forgotten, is defeating [President] Joe Biden in November.”

    Peek added:

As to the FISA, Republicans are wary of allowing warrantless surveillance and rightly so. The law has been abused in the past, and is most hated today for having enabled surveillance of [former President Donald Trump’s] campaign by Hillary Clinton’s apparatchiks. Nonetheless, it was not that long ago that the United States came under attack by Islamic terrorists; given the millions who have entered the country illegally since Biden became president, hundreds of whom are on the terror watch list, it is imperative that we up our vigilance against terrorism, not dumb it down.

Despite her explicit disdain for Clinton, Peek concluded her piece with this: “Borrowing from Hillary Clinton: Get over yourself. The mission today is to elect Donald Trump.”

Fox News Host Stops Kevin McCarthy After Puzzling Comment: You’re Saying Biden Should ‘Meddle With The Justice System’ in Trump’s Favor?!

    Jennifer Bowers BahneyApr 21st, 2024, 3:29 pm

Fox News’ Howard Kurtz pushed back on former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for seeming to suggest the current president should “meddle with the justice system” in former President Donald Trump’s favor by postponing his hush money trial until after the November elections.

On Sunday’s MediaBuzz, Kurtz read a statement Joe Biden gave about Trump’s legal problems:

His lack of ethics has nothing to do with me. I have not once talked to anyone in my administration about Trump’s legal problems.

“What proof do you have to the contrary?” Kurtz asked McCarthy.

“Isn’t it come out before, too, where he even in his own words proves that’s not true?” McCarthy answered. “When he was complaining to — in his staff about Trump and the legal issues?”

Kurtz said, “Wait, isn’t there a difference between complaining privately to your own staff and trying to meddle with the levers of justice?”

MCCARTHY: I think fairness is a word that’s probably a really powerful word in America. Is it really fair that the nominee for one party is now within, is in a trial this close to a presidency? Also is it actually fair to the voters…? Why wouldn’t Joe Biden, caring about the voters say, “You know what? This is wrong. If I had nothing to do with this, they should not have this trial right now so the American people could actually spend time on what the issues are.” That would be the real issue for Biden to take.

KURTZ: Hold on — so you’re saying you did want President Biden, or you do want him, to meddle with the justice system, just in favor of Donald Trump?

MCCARTHY: No! I want his opinion to be fair. I want his opinion to look for the American people in fairness. Who in America thinks it’s right that if Joe Biden was on trial right now beforehand, or that President Trump? And really, they’ve already looked at this issue how many times? And really from the standpoint —

KURTZ: A lot of people passed on bringing those charges. That’s why I said what I said.

MCCARTHY: Yeah! The feds already looked at it. And who do they, but, think about it, their number one witness has proven to be a liar in the process. Cohen, the attorney.

KURTZ: We will see what happens when he testifies.

So now Trump will have to start looking for ways to duck and dodge after shooting off his mouth.

President Joe Biden's announcement Friday that he's willing to debate Donald Trump spurred Fox News host Emily Compagno to claim he'd orchestrate a “Nancy Kerrigan situation” to stop the debate from going forward, video shows.

Compagno made the comparison during a segment on the Fox News show "Outnumbered," drawing comparisons to the notorious attack on the Olympic figure skater orchestrated by competitor Tonya Harding's ex-husband and bodyguard.

“It will probably be a Nancy Kerrigan situation,” she said. “Where right as Trump’s walking out, they like snip the mic. ‘Oh no! We tried! We showed up! There was a flat tire!’”

Compagno went on to say that she was “sure” someone would “sabotage” the debate.

Fellow panelists on the conservative network also said that, barring sabotage, Trump would be very likely win a debate against Biden.

“President Trump would wipe the floor with Joe Biden," Fox Business Network anchor Dagen McDowell said. "And that’s an insult to mops."

During an interview with broadcaster Howard Stern this Friday, Biden said he will debate Trump before the 2024 election.

“I am, somewhere. I don’t know when,” Biden said when asked by Stern if he plans to debate Trump. “I’m happy to debate him.”

According to CNN, it’s the "first time Biden has said explicitly he would debate Trump in this election cycle. Previously, he has equivocated, saying it would depend on the former president’s behavior. Some of Biden’s aides have questioned whether Trump would abide by established rules in any potential debate, and before Friday his campaign hadn’t set out any specific debate plan."

The segment spurred a raised eyebrow from Daily Beast reporter Justin Baragona, who quipped Trump better beware.

"It appears the Secret Service needs to be on the lookout for mysterious men wielding collapsible batons looking to kneecap Trump as he ambles to the podium this fall," Baragona joked, "at least according to one Fox News star."
