TS, I've been to The Netherlands a couple of times, but not for over a decade; I love it there AND made a lot of friends in the 90s (when I was there) because Golden Earring (I know-----ancient) was one of my favorite bands since I was a kid.

However, I am not at all up to date on "Northern Soul"

 

I live in the Netherlands now but I grew up in Manchester in the 70's. Hence Northern Soul.

Well, Netherlands, Manchester or Timbuktu-----Northern Soul is one that totally got past me.

There are quite a few bands that I heard of and acquired material that was never released in the United States from the 1970s to 1990s, but to be honest, if it was not available in the U.S., there is a 100-1 chance that I never heard of it.

 

Anyone from the UK who lived North of Birmingham during the late 60's and 70's will be able to tell you about Northern Soul, all nighter's and three before eight.

Think of unpretentious Tamla Motown and you will be close to the mark.

OK---I'm still a bit confused.

I was thinking at this point you were talking about A BAND.

I listened to four things on YouTube----clearly 4 different groups (3 unidentified)----2 girls/2 guys.

The guys both sounded like Cliff Richard knock-offs.

The girls were better. One group sounded a bit like The Marvellettes and the other kind of Dusty Springfield-ish.

You do not often need subtitles for the hard of thinking. I was asked for a hint to which I replied Northern Soul which I suppose is a musical style although it was a way of life when I was a kid.

I'm quite into my Northern Soul but I must say you've got me this time... Gonna go sit through a few compilations n see if I can track it down before someone elses guesses it :excited:
