We have to do all that stuff here in the US but none of it to own and operate a gun.

And like I said they make cars like that because there are lots of fools who that will buy them. Just like people who have to drive great big four-wheel drive trucks even though they never get off the pavement with it.

But then on the other hand we don't have pavement other than on high speed race tracks that will allow a car to go 140 mph and keep it on the road.

The last time I was out with my buddy in his Challenger once we got past 120 mph it was already starting to float and drift. Just like they did in the olden days when we were kids but we managed NOT to wreck this one.

as for guns...in most states you DO have to have a license or permit to own a gun and you DO have to register it, oh and there is supposed to be a waiting period on the purchase of any gun while they do a background check, though gunsellers arent always the most legitimate in that sense

Bullshit. There's no waiting period or back ground checks for private sales of guns and even most gun shows. And as President Obama pointed out our data base and background checks need to be updated and better enforced.

Laughable to you maybe, but not to me. If you will recall, I am all for the registration and licensing of guns and gun owners. Therefore, my point would be, even with the broad lack of reasonable gun laws and the lack of reasonable gun law enforcement, the gun is still safer to own than an automobile.

Statistics are clearly in support of that claim. Just as folks who are afraid to fly, because of a concern for their safety, are driving instead thinking that it is safer.

None of that is required to own and operate a gun.
