Donna Brazile: Clinton Campaign Treated Me Like A ‘Slave’

Former DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile says in her new book that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign treated her like a “slave.”

The book, titled “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House,” is set to be released on Tuesday, but the Washington Post obtained an advance copy of the memoir.

The Post’s Phillip Rucker reported Saturday that, in the book, Brazile recalls meetings she had as DNC chairwoman with Clinton campaign staffers. Rucker reported Brazile specifically revealed a conference call with senior Clinton campaign officials Charlie Baker, Marlon Marshall and Dennis Cheng during which Brazile said she told them to stop treating her like a slave.

“I’m not Patsey the slave,” Brazile reportedly told the Clinton staffers, referring to a character from the award-winning film “12 Years a Slave.”

“Y’all keep whipping me and whipping me and you never give me any money or any way to do my damn job. I am not going to be your whipping girl!” Brazile reportedly added.

Rucker also reported Saturday that in the new book Brazile writes about how Clinton campaign staffers “disrespected her and put the DNC on a ‘starvation diet.'” Brazille reportedly writes that such actions “deprived [the DNC] of funding for voter turnout operations.”

Donna Brazile Says She Faced Sexism From Top Hillary Clinton Aides


In her new book, the former DNC chair is particularly critical of Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook.

In the sixth chapter of her new book, Hacks, former interim Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile says Hillary Clinton’s top male aides engaged in sexist behavior toward her. Brazile says it prompted her to tell the group during a contentious conference call, “Gentlemen, let’s just put our dicks out on the table and see who’s got the bigger one, because I know mine is bigger than all of yours.”

Brazile’s book will be released Tuesday ― the same day some states and municipalities have critical elections. Hacks has stirred up controversy after previously published excerpts described Clinton having a deal with the Democratic Party to give her more access and power than independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Brazile putting together a contingency plan to replace Clinton as the party’s nominee with then-Vice President Joe Biden after Clinton fainted on 9/11 due to pneumonia.

(Disclosure: This reporter was a co-chair of Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2008 and has supported the Clinton foundation in the past, but no longer engages in political activity.)

The book is highly critical of Clinton’s campaign manager Robby Mook, saying, “He had the habit of nodding when you are talking, leaving you with the impression that he has listened to you, but then never seeming to follow up on what you thought you agreed on.” Brazile adds, however, that when she saw him at the DNC convention, he was “warm and treated me with respect.”

The book also says all of Mook’s top aides were men: “The young men that surrounded Robby Mook ― and they were all men in his inner circle ― had mastered a cool and removed style of politics.” However, Mook’s chief of staff, campaign chief operating officer, communications director and rapid response director were women.

Brazile says her relationship with Mook got so bad that she told Clinton’s chief administrative officer Charlie Baker, “Charlie, I’m about to kill Robby and it ain’t going to be pretty.”

A former Clinton aide who has read the excerpts that were shared with HuffPost said, “Given that she already had to walk back her claims about a rigged nomination and was caught buying into a right-wing conspiracy about Hillary’s health, I’m not sure how much more of this book people should take seriously.” Brazile’s book describes a deal that allowed Clinton “control of the party long before she became its nominee,” according to an excerpt published by Politico. But on ABC’s “This Week,” she said there was “no evidence” the nomination was rigged for Clinton.

According to the book, a big bone of contention between Brazile and Mook was Mook’s refusal to allow Brazile to hire a temporary CEO for the DNC. Brazile says she wanted to get the party back on its feet after Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in response to Wikileaks emails revealing she was trying to sabotage Sanders. Brazile pushed to hire longtime Democratic aide Tom McMahon, she says.

But a source familiar with Mook’s thinking says he thought McMahon was a good choice, and on Aug. 2, 2016, Brazile announced McMahon was joining the DNC on an interim basis.

Recalling what she describes as a tension-filled conference call with Mook and his team of top aides about hiring a temporary CEO for the party, Brazile says, “I have worked with men all my life in politics and I can sense when they get to this part about not being able to deal with a woman. This is not a racial thing. This was a gender thing.”

Brazile says that she interjected at one point in the conference call and said, “You know, this does not feel like a negotiation to me. This feels like power and control. Gentlemen, let’s just put our dicks out on the table and see who’s got the bigger one, because I know mine is bigger than all of yours.” A former Clinton aide confirmed Brazile made the comment, but doesn’t believe a call focused on hiring McMahon occurred.

Clinton supporters have aggressively pushed back on assertions in Brazile’s book. Over 200 former Clinton campaign staffers signed an open letter saying they “do not recognize the campaign she portrays in the book.”

 

Damn, and the Dog had just about convinced me to change over to the democratic party.

Maybe but I am watching Donna Brazile right and all she is talking about is the way the Democrats are running away with the elections in Virginia.

The reason the DNC is broke they let Shillary take charge of running her own campaign. All their funds went to her.

 

Obama drained the DNC on his way out and the money went to his Foundation----Clinton took over with the DNC in debt-----she bought it basically....

The modus operandi of OFA comes right out of Obama’s support and sympathy for Marxism and his background as a left-wing community organizer. It’s a combination of agitation and propaganda -- much like old-style Soviet agitprop, and Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.


For instance, immediately following President Trump’s late January executive order temporarily banning refugees and visitors from seven lawless states that harbor terrorists, OFA kicked into action, mobilizing people to “spontaneously” demonstrate, causing utter chaos at nearly a dozen of the busiest airports across the country.

Hardly spontaneous, it was in fact staged, courtesy of ex-president Barack Obama.

Ditto for what happened in late February with members of Congress town hall meetings across the country.
A week before the town halls started, OFA released its “Congressional Recess Toolkit,” a training manual for activists and demonstrators, invoking them to go in groups and get to meeting halls early and “spread out… throughout the front half of the room, [which] will make the perception of broad consensus a reality for your member of congress.”
So perception drives fake news which is intended to drive reality.

As Paul Sperry writes in the New York Post, “Obama has an army of agitators -- numbering more than 30,000 -- who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency.

Obama will command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.” Obama’s OFA Washington HQ is now the nerve center that coordinates 250 offices nationwide, which together with its Chicago-based sister organization, the Community Organizing Institute (COI), are planning to facilitate the “training [of] more than 2 million youths in Alinsky street tactics” and carry out plans “to stage 400 rallies across 42 states to attack Trump and Republicans over ObamaCare’s repeal.”

Recent funding records are not available, but in just its first two years, OFA took in over $40 million, according to IRS filings.

Much of that early money had been headed to the DNC but Obama directed it to OFA.

Not surprisingly, OFA’s major donors are also members of George Soros’s Democracy Alliance, which is a donors’ consortium of the left-wing super rich devoted to radical political change. Daniel Greenfield, the award-winning Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, believes “OFA will be far more dangerous in the wild than the Clinton Foundation ever was.

 

Actually the opposite is true. The DNC was broke and deeply in debt. And Clinton said she would bail them out but she wanted a lot of control over what they did with the money. And they agreed to do that.

And again the opposite is also true here as well. It was DNC chairman Tom Perez who was on Fox News today saying "Hey we all know you want to talk about Donna Brazile, and Hillary, and Bernie because you are desperate not to talk about what happened last night. But the truth is that's actually all behind us. We proved we can win last night and we are moving forward."

 

S0, Tom Perez was on Fox News last night talking about "what happened last night"? What happened the night before last?

That reminds me of the old Bugs Bunny / Daffy Duck (guess who you are) routine where Daffy said, "Last week, you told me I could be on next week" and Bugs says, "This week was next week last week."

Let's get a few things straight about Donna Brazile. You bet she is managing to piss a lot of people on the left off. But not just because of her attacking Hillary Clinton. Hell a lot of people on the left cheer her on about that. But the problem is a lot of things in her book don't square with the facts. And worse she keeps contradicting herself and can't keep her story straight. So she really doesn't have a lot of credibility right now with anyone. But if she wants to write a book and try to sell it none of us are going to try and keep her from it. But its not causing splits in the Democratic party like some would like to claim. In fact we are pretty much united, are moving on and are winning. And if Brazile is going to cause trouble. Fine, let's get it over with now while the mid-terms are still a year away.

 

If Donna Brazile managed to blow up the DNC she would be doing her country a great service. I give her credit for not towing the party line at all costs. I don’t know how any Democrat can swallow what has happened to their party by allowing Hillary to take her self entitled shot at getting back in the White House. They cheated Bernie and the chickens have come home to roost. Someone in the party had to speak up. I didn’t think it would be Donna Brazile but if Bernie did it, the Liberal elites would cry sour grapes.
