  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Well, lets break that down just a bit then, shall we, @Distant Lover ?
The spew over the 1% has to assume that the economic pie is finite. It is of a certain size, there is no more, so when those rich bastards take more than their share, there's less for the rest of us.

But, the economic pie can get to be as big as it needs to be. There is literally no limit. In 1900 the US GDP was $0.59 Trillion in todays dollars. In 2,000 it was $14.3 Trillion. In 2019 it was $21.2 Trillion, and is expected to be $22.75 Trillion in 2020.

So, since the economic pie literally has no limit, what the fuck do we care what the net worth of the 1% is; they aren't taking a dime out of our pockets and they aren't limiting our opportunities.
    Right?

    Now, as for your chart of manufacturing jobs;
You will note that your chart ended in 2010, or maybe 2015; it's hard to tell. But look! since then, manufacturing jobs have grown tremendously!!

So, those manufacturing jobs been coming back, isn't that marvelous?
And look, manufacturing jobs worldwide are effected by economic trends, but not technological trends!

So, whether a new computerized gadget or a new bit of software, yes jobs are eliminated, or to be more accurate, made obsolete, but new ones take their place. And more of em to boot!

    Yes.
Yes you have to do the "full-spectrum, state-level psychiatric analysis AND pee inna cup" just to clean floors or stock shelves or flip burgers. And on top of that, they will do a background check that will reveal how many times you bit the little red haired girl on the leg in Kindergarten.
    Is that a problem?
Cause if it is, please step aside so the fellow behind you can hand me his pee cup ……………..

When you start hiring your own employees are you gonna drug test and background check?
Or rely on your own instincts?
You do know, relying on your own instincts will get you sued eventually?

I remember when they played the National/Royal anthem before the first movie & after the last one.
They also use to play them when the station went off the air.

Factory jobs are not being lost to "bad trade deals." They are being lost to industrial robots. The value of U.S. factory production has risen, but that does not help people who lose their factory jobs.

Don't be fooled by the Trump economy. It is built on sand and borrowed money.

The largest number of factory workers had factory jobs when Jimmy Carter was president. That is never coming back. From the middle 1930's to the recession of 1974 a factory job with a strong union enabled a man with an IQ below 90 to earn a lower middle class life style. Most factory jobs do not require any more IQ power than a job in a fast food restaurant. The only reason they paid more was strong labor unions. When those men lost factory jobs they had to take service industry jobs like waiting tables, cashier work, working in a convenience store, security guard work, and stuff like that. Those jobs not only pay less, they require more academic and social skills. To learn a skilled trade one really needs an IQ to the right of 90. To get into a reputable trade school teaching plumbing and carpentry, and certainly auto mechanics and electrician work one need to pass a mental aptitude test that most factory workers would not be able to pass.

Two COBOL programs that took me three weeks to design, code, test, and implement enabled a company I was working for to fire four clerical workers. During a massive lay off GM set up a free school to teach former auto workers to become auto mechanics. When the men learned that they would have to pass a mental aptitude test few even tried.

Pretending that heriditarianism is pseudo science will not make these problems go away.

In the late 50s I was an NCO stationed in Ft Dix NJ and they had implemented a plan to discharge men with lower IQs from the Army
I recall standing there watching long lines of them, 6 abreast being marched down the street. One of the Sgts, told me they had offered him an opportunity to go to school nights and try to raise his. I watched other Sgt's. guys with maybe 10 years or more in sitting in the mess hall literally crying, they had no place else to go.

    1. Anniemated
Oh that's awful! What matters their IQ when they could do their jobs well enough to become Sgts?

I don't disagree with you, I thought many of the NCOs had served in Korea and some WWII. but its years ago and I'm no longer sure if they allowed special dispensation for some. IKE was president. and I'm pretty sure he was responsible.

I do my best not to let the 'member berries to take control because to me living in the past is just a refusal to accept the now. Remembering the way things were is all good and fun but trying to recreate it in the now is what causes the issues we face now, refusing to learn from the mistakes of the past.

    Jesus.
So this is about your "darkies is stupid and violent " rants?

Look, shooter grew up in a 7 person family with a single income from a milkman.
We were poor, but we didn't know that because we lived the same life style as everyone around us.
My dads first new car was bought for him by his sons, when he was 75 years old. Vacations were almost always staycations.

Shooter raised 2 kids with a double income. We pretty much spent all we made. We had new cars. We went on annual vacations. We were upper middle class.

Shooter developed a new workflow process for his company. claims that once were processed assembly line fashion. Shooter changed that to put a claim on one desk to be processed and recorded start to finish. We increased claim staff by half and eliminated clerical and data entry jobs. Although payroll increased and we spent $250K on new technology, the number of appeals and broken claims decreased significantly and saved money.
Claim staff need much more knowledge, training, and communication skills than a data entry clerk or a mail or file clerk. In our case we trained many of the clerks to handle claims. A couple of the claims people were intimidated by the technology and left. Some of the clerks did not want the increased responsibility and left. We brought in new people to replace those who left.

The process Shooter developed is now the industry standard.

Technology changes the labor landscape, always for the better. For employers and employees.

Your endless rants about the loss of manufacturing jobs and "angry Mericans" has become tedious. Try harder.

Going back to bands, I remember seeing Aerosmith play 2nd bill to a Gaelic influenced rock band called Steeleye Span - Maddy Pryor is amazing. My buddy and I had a blast making fun of them, they sucked so bad - Aerosmith, I mean.

Steeleye Span: The Weaver and the Factory Maid - the last minute (at 4:27) is simply stunning.
