  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Anonymous are a bunch of cowards, blowhards, and angry fifteen year olds who think they're edgy because they can download the LOIC, input an IP, and DDOS the hell out of people they take a temporary dislike to. Never mind the fact that Anonymous was started as a joke, and never mind the fact that DDOSing servers is basically equivalent to ringing someone's telephone ever and over again to tie up the line - tiresome but nothing more - oh, no! Anonymous is the great and good Internet Army!

Bullshit. Anonymous has done nothing more than hijack a concept. As someone who was literally their at their inception, I remember reading the first post on the thread where someone said, "Hey, for a laugh, do you want to go an hold up a few stupid signs outside Scientology Centres?" and a few other people figured it would be a good laugh. Then suddenly, with nothing more than a couple of seconds on the wrong end of a reporter's microphone, and a daft mask, the whole thing blows itself out of all proportion and suddenly it's full of people who take it unbelievably seriously.

Anonymous is the perfect exposition of the tenets of Foucalt's Pendulum. A fictional, underground group is 'invented'; a few people have a laugh about it, and then suddenly there's dozens of people clamouring to join claiming that it's the notorious underground movement that's existed for years and they've all been searching for.

The referencing of the mask amongst the culture predates the movie. The twats wearing them in public do not.

If that is the case why does Warner Brothers get royalties from buying the masks?

You do realise that V for Vendetta - the film - is based on a graphic novel from the 1980s?

The mask is a reference to Guy Fawkes, who was caught during the gunpowder plot in Britain in the 17th century.

He wasn´t an important person...they rebelled against the King because he made the anglican church the state church and being catholic was against the law. So this group of Catholics wanted to protest and plotted to blow up parliament (just like in the movie). They didn´t succeed and Guy Fawkes got caught and hanged as an example, so he stood for the protest of this group against the authority...

So in the V for Vendetta movie V stands for the same thing, and today Anonymous wants to bring across the same

    Keep Googling.

    Pretty much.

Given that he's immortalised every 5th of November here in the UK, I'd say Fawkes is reasonably important.

Well, I have always thought that the joke was pretty much on us.

I wish that the Gunpowder plot had succeeded, it certainly couldn't be much worse.

The root servers were attacked a few years ago. I would have to do some research to find the exact date. May have been five or more years ago. Can't recall. I was in school at the time.

Anyway, the attack was a success. Seven or eight of the roots were taken down simultaneously, as I recall. The Internet did not crash, but public service was severely degraded until the traffic could be rerouted.

The router systems that feed the roots have been hardened considerably since then. There have been subsequent DDOS attacks, unsuccessful.

I tend to agree with Orion that Anonymous are not software masterminds, but just a bunch of pricks who've learned to steal blackboxes off slashdot.

A successful DDOS attack would prove me wrong. Then again, a successful attack would also bring the full weight of the NSA down on their heads, which would be very bad for them. They are not as "anonymous" as you would imagine. Most of them are kids, and many of them have big mouths. The law of Omerta definitely does not apply. For example, a member of Anonymous lives in Medford, Massachusetts, and everyone who matters knows it. How? The moron phones into talk radio, whenever his beloved "social progress organization" is in the news. The dweeb.

Since no one bothered to answer your question,

ALAN MOORE, one of the greatest comics writers ever, came up with the basic idea around 1975, and originally published the 'Vendetta' stories (or most of them, anyway) in Warrior magazine between 1982 and 1985.

Originally in black and white, DC comics picked it up and republished the complete saga in color, and them released them together in a VERTIGO graphic novel in, I think, 1995.
