Don't have to. I have been following this for at least a year. I've read all the pros and cons. I've read every rationale, and every assurance.

To which I reply, unforseen consequences happen.

I was among the small minority that opposed Net Neutrality, and I was possibly the only person on this forum to oppose it.

Everyone insisted it would be fair. No one understood it. It was branded with popular words like "neutral," and "fairness," and "equality." It was popular to support it. Who could be against fairness?

Those of us who understood its dangers were dismissed as cranks.

Well, it has been a disaster. Since the imposition of Net Neutrality, network infrastructure advances have virtually stopped, because research has plummeted. As predicted, Net Neutrality has not made streaming faster for everyone. It has made it slower for everyone. And U.S. advances in bandwidth capacity have come to a standstill.

It will be the same with the forfeiture of control over Internet domain assignation. We won't see negative effects tomorrow or next week. It will be a year, or several years from now, under someone else's watch, ,,when people start bitching about the state of affairs and no longer recall how it got that way.

 

That's what I've been saying all along! We are watching a scripted reality show.
