its clear that the American government has lost its ability to function even on a basic level. I myself am neither a rebublican or a democrat. The two parties bickering has basically gridlocked the country. The most ironic part is they both want basically the same thing. So as a spectator I put forth the question. Can the social change that the country so desperately needs ever be achieved?

You all know what I mean when I say social change. im talking about a country that doesnt persecute its own citizens. A country where an honest person can survive and provide for thier family without breaking thier backs. A country that doesnt lie and cheat. A country that puts the well being of each and every citizen first.

Its clear that we as a country will either rise or demise. The way I see it is a change is coming one way or another You can feel, it like it or not. So is the country going to burn down and rise like a pheonix from the ashes. Or will the country unite and join twentyfirst century?

 

As older folks die off and the brain washed younger ones become a majority we will move to the left---

40 years from now those same people will wonder what the hell they did....

As the younger people mature and have to make their own living their thoughts and beliefs will change.

 

A country has to persecute some of it's citizens to remain a free country with laws. Right now a honest person can make a living and provide for their family if they get the education needed and are willing to do the work. The more education and willingness to work a person is the easier the job will be. Those who do not prepare for their future will not have a great one.
Our country does not lie and cheat. The life long politicians we keep electing do the lying and cheating. If we elect honest people that will actually work for the people we will not have as many problems with them lying and cheating the people.
The well being of each and every citizen is another thing that the life long politicians do not give a damn about.

The people in the U.S. have let politicians brain wash them into believing a certain political party is the answer to every question. The only thing any political party has done in many years is exactly the same as the other political party then blame everything on the other party. The people should learn any political party is not going to make the U.S. better. They are too busy making themselves better off at the expense of the citizens.

As long as people think there is a difference in any political party we will continue the slide downwards. When people start electing politicians for what they have done, how honest they are, and how much they care about the citizens we will see a change for the good.
That is not likely to happen as people think a D or an R in front of a name really means something.

 

I've had to make my own living for many many years and my thoughts and beliefs have only strengthened. So I don't know about that. Oh and I haven't matured either in fact I acted a lot more grown up when I was a teenager.

 

I don't get what the masks are all about

 

There is not such thing as brain washing. Even during the Korean War, when the term was coined, it did not happen. What does happen is that people you disagree with present more compelling political messages than you do.

When young people think of socialism they do not think of tanks and missiles on parade in Moscow. They think of Scandinavia and how well things work over there.

 

Whether the right or left wins the future will depend on which one sheds their blinders of idiology and presents the people with a real plan the masses can accept.

The right will have to shed its mean-spirited sense of detachment. Expecting everyone to be completely self sufficient sounds wonderful- if you happen to have the chance - but far too many simply don’t. In the future, automaton and our overall lack of dynamic economic growth will cause even greater need for social services. The right will have to stop acting as if the poor don’t exist or they will be slaugherd by them at the ballot box.

The left will have to stop treating any American who doesn’t buy their program like they were stupid. The elitism Hillary displayed is killing the left in middle America and making it impossible for their message to be heard. They will need to do more than offer pennies to the poor. They will need to find ways to pay for their programs if they want them to be accepted. They can’t win by offering a free lunch when the people are so very aware that it isn’t free at all. No, they need more than big ideas. They need a real plan to make them work.

Both sides are intent on controlling society in their own way and this keeps driving a wedge into their perspective voting blocks. Whether it is forcing social change down the throats of the people without care for what they think, or trying to force a religious agenda on those same voters, both will ultimately fail. The side that wins will adopt a Libertarian ideal and respect each individuals rights without coercion or insult. They will let discussion and reason determine each issue and stop trying to legislate it without the support of the people

The side that first realizes this is the side that will carry the future...

 

America has always had social change. Fifty years ago black kids went to their schools and whites went to theirs. Most businesses were white customers only. Baseball had only started to let black players compete. Voting was intimidation and often murder. KKK ruled the South. Northern states were little better. Yes we have a long ways to go but we have come far.

 

Started with John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Not likely to change.

 

I don't see any likelihood of change any time soon.
To much disunity ,
to much bickering over nonsense and bullshit ,
no matter who's in power , more than half the country always is unhappy and complaining ,
and to many politicians looking after their own best interests more than the country's.

Like all major powers , their time passes , and if they don't wake up and smell the flowers soon enough , it's past before they know they've lost it.

America hasn't woken up to the facts of the 21st century , and that the ways of the 20th don't cut the mustard any more.

You only have power for as long as you hold respect ,
and realise the situation of the day and adapt to it.
America shows no sign of that ,
domestically or internationally.

At the moment it seems your heading towards more isolationism , while still trying belligerence , and neither will produce happy outcomes.

When blacks feel confident they riot. They rioted during the administration of Lyndon Johnson. They stopped rioting when Richard Nixon was inaugurated. They rioted during the administration of Barack Obama. They stopped when Donald Trump was inaugurated.

 

During the civil rights movement integrationists confidently predicted that when blacks were no longer discriminated against they would begin to behave and perform as well as whites. In other words, they would stop committing all those crimes and having all those illegitimate children for whites to support on welfare.

What happened instead is that white behavior became as bad as black behavior. Black behavior became worse. What did not change was black academic performance. It is still inferior to that of whites and Orientals.
