The other alternative would be for the U.S and the muslim countries to stop meddling in their affairs and let them have a proper all out war, which will result in a clear winner, and a clear loser.

The winner takes all and makes all the rules. The whole issue could be resloved in a week or two, and generations of peace would follow.

 

I don't care. If there is a peaceful agreement and a two state solution that will be historic and the first step in the right direction in more than 60 years.

And as I have said before if the Palestinians are given their own state and attack Israel or even can't stop others from attacking Israel then Israel would be justified in going to war.

But the Palestinians deserve their own state and self determination first. Israel resorted to terrorism first to drive the Palestinians out of Israel and until that is corrected there certainly can be no peace.

In the meantime however you may not have to worry about it. Lor just posted a story about the Palestinians threatening to walk out if Israel continues settlement building. That could derail the peace talks before they even begin because Netanyahu has promised his party that construction would continue.

So we'll just have to watch and if I'm wrong I'll admit I was a fool to even hope for something different against all odds and indications.

Just thought I'd update this to admit I'm looking like a bigger fool all the time. Before the talks can even begin Hamas kills for Israeli settlers and takes credit for it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas are meeting in Washington. Abbas is supposed to denounce terrorism and Hamas but they'll have to do a lot more than that. The Palestinian people are going to have to stop them.

They have to the end of September to sort out that the Israeli settlement building freeze is extended, and the Palestinians recognise that Israel is the jewish homeland. On both sides there are extremists in government who will oppose either of these demands. So it looks to be failing already, pack your bags up go home this is a non-event.
