Coming from you, I'm happy to be included in that collection ejls. I had a lot of fun writing my two stories. Rest assured I won't repeat my mistake, from my last participation in CAW-17.

 

@Hush ... You have done a great job, and I see that the submissions are rolling in.

This was a really good theme, or more precisely themes. I have never entered a KAW, and I guess my one fluke eliminates me from entering, but I may try and put out a non entry for this.

 

Well, after 2, 3, err, several failed ideas that wouldn't fit the theme, I'm finally working on a story! I'm mostly putting this down so I don't end up procrastinating.

It's somewhat different from what I've written, yet weirder... haha. We'll see how it turns out.

I'm surprised that there has not been much in the way of comments, questions or discussion as to the theme(s). Is everyone who wishes to participate clear on it? Would anyone like to chime in and tease us by letting us know entries are coming?

I think you were pretty clear in your explanation. Rules were well presented, as well as the themes. You can see that all aspects have been exploited. If not in competitive entries (6 so far) at least in the non-entries (8 entries). You did an excellent job from the start. Just remain patient, as I'm sure you will have a rush of the more seasoned authors as we get closer to closure time.

 

So, just what I was afraid might happen will come to pass (to what degree I cannot be sure at this point). From July 17-25th (minimum) I will be out of town and unable to respond, update the entry list, or issue a "Reading Phase" initiating post until I return. Web access will not be practical and I'll not be using our satellite communications to do so. In addition I will not task another to do this (either in here or in my personal life) to insure all accountability is placed upon me. Never the less I see no reason why any of schedule should be altered which stands as follows:

KAW-7 Writing Phase & Duration:
A. KAW-7’s Writing Phase will end promptly on July 24th, 2016 at 11:59:59 PM E.D.T. (GMT-5 adjusted for Daylight Savings Time). Any entry posted by the author after that time will not be included in the competition.
KAW-7 Reading Phase:
The reading phase will commence upon July 25th, 2016 and run a T.B.D. length of time dependent upon the number and length of entries. Those intending on voting are encouraged to make constructive and congratulatory posts within the authors story thread. An announcement post regarding the commencement of the reading phase will be made by the KAW-7 Host listing all valid entries.
KAW-7 Voting Phase:
The voting phase will commence upon the cut-off date/time for the reading phase (T.B.D.), and will last for exactly three (3) days or 72 hours. An announcement post regarding the commencement of the voting phase will be made by the KAW-7 Host listing all valid entries, voting rules and guidelines.
KAW-7 Voting Result Presentation:
Within two (2) days (48 hours) of the end of the voting phase the KAW Host will announce the winners, and relative standings of all entries.

What it does mean is that entrants will need to post their thread announcements in this thread, and possibly update the list below (simply copy/quote the below list and add your entry appropriately). Once more however, no submission will be accepted after the cut-off date/time. So any made after even if added to the list will be disqualified as an entry, and re-listed as a non-entry.

At this point and due to the modest length of the currently submitted entries I do not expect the reading phase to run more than one week. Until I leave and when I return I'll update everything. I somewhat expected this as noted in the "KAW-7 Casual Discussion" thread.
