So one pampered, narcissistic asshole actor makes a rash joke about another narcissistic asshole actor's wife and gets bitch slapped for it.

Ok I finally watched the video. My husband would have hit him more than once tbh. That being said, I buzzed my hair off for fun last year.

 

I feel both are out of line. Chris Rock was out of line saying joke he made. Just read he was on a movie called "Good Hair" and it's about women's hair in the black culture. His daughters posed question about hair. It just crazy he would make a joke to get a laugh then have no problem making a movie 12 years ago.

As of Will Smith he is sticking up for his wife like any man would do. At the same time though it doesn't give him any right to assault someone. He could have said something off stage or even on stage but not vulgar.

I do feel it was real as both have had issues in past. Academy announced 2 hrs ago they are doing an investigation.

If Mrs. Smith is that self conscious about her hair and medical condition, perhaps she should consider wearing a wig like other people do in similar situations...

Then her husband wouldn't have to resort to violence to defend her honor.

 

This has got to be one of the most fucked-up and inside-out pieces of logic I’ve ever seen in my life.

A black woman is quite public about her auto-immune disease, doing what she can to normalize and raise awareness. She looks fucking fantastic anyway.

Despite that, a man makes a shitty joke about it on an internationally broadcast live television event. Poor taste. She doesn’t even pretend to think it’s funny, because it isn’t. She doesn’t owe the joker anything.

Her husband takes offense and smacks the joker.

And somehow, somehow you managed to make it her fault.

Unfuckingreal.

 

I don't pay much attention to celebrities, so I didn't get the joke when I first saw the clip - then it was "Oh - her head's shaved", then it was "Oh, she has a disease".

Chris Rock says he didn't know about the disease. I'll side with him before knuckle dragging 'great protector' Smith.

I don't think it was staged. Staging it makes no sense on a few different levels. To stage it, Chris, Will AND Jada would have had to be in on it.
Don't see Jada agreeing.

 

Will Smith just apologized on his Instagram page. Just read that Chris Rock didn't talk about joke during rehearsals.

Emotions got the best of hom and just protecting hos wifr.

 

Personally, I think Will should've said something back. Like, "And you're going to be in the remake for Dog Fucker!"

Which is a real movie, staring Linda Lovelace.

 

The Academy may take the Oscar away from Will Smith for physically assaulting Chris Rock....

According to a statement released by the Academy today, "violence is completely unacceptable and cannot be tolerated".

 

Oh and FYI, hair loss happens to both men and women.... It's not a life threating condition. Men have endured these jokes for ever. In this day and age we are suppose to treat men and women alike. Not that the left knows what a woman is anyway , but I digress.

Lighten up people. If everyone wants to start attacking each other over hair loss jokes, the government needs to make wigs mandatory like they did with masks.....

 

First - Jada has alopecia. To her and others with her condition, it sucks. That does NOT give anyone free reign to make jokes at their expense. Having said that, this was a staged event. Here are my reasons why I feel this way:

1. Will Smith was laughing during Chris Rock’s delivery. Until he saw Jada’s reaction. Then he reacted. This indicates she wasn't in on the joke.

2. Yes, you “heard” the hit on Chris’s mic. What you didn’t hear was the SLAP, as Will hit Chris with a open hand.

3. Chris didn’t react at all. AT ALL!! No “Holy fuck, what was that about?” No “Fuck, that hurt!” No hand to the face immediately after he was “slapped,” like ANY one would instantly do. He didn’t even attempt to go after Will after.

4. Special effects and fights in movies have come a long way. Actors have learned how to “fight” and make it look real. These two are actors. They are paid to act.

I can’t answer to why it was staged, other than to draw attention to Jada’s condition and to generate some buzz about an award show that needed something to resurrect ratings.

Don’t be surprised or shocked when the “investigation” turns up nothing.

 

Wasn't it Chris Rock who had an embarrassing issue with Sean Penn a few years ago at the Oscars/

 

The Oscars is a giant ego show and a chance for self indulged elitist and overpaid actors to say something rude about anyone who doesn't think like them.....

The only thing different is Wil Smith lost it when the jokes hit close to home...

I don't follow celebrity news, so I didn't know Jada had alopecia, and I had assumed she had shaved her head for a movie role. I'm sure that she must have felt hurt by the joke at her expense, but I do wish Will had handled it without violence.

I'm sure this will open a lot of dialogue about comedians and their material and how far is too far and crosses the line.

 

Richard Pryor is probably turning over in his grave over the way people are acting nowadays....

Okay - let's just say that Chris Rock KNEW about Jada's disease. The first thing Rock said was "I love you, Jada" - so, independent of any previous history with the Smiths (which I don't know about) the joke could still have been construed as reasonably good-natured but supportive kidding - meaning "your career will still flourish" in spite of this disease. It could easily have been seen as a "You go girl!" comment.

This all about pampered, rich Hollywood celebrities having skins that are far thinner than the regular 'Lowly' people who watch their movies.

Seriously - fuck all these pampered bastards - except Chris Rock - he was just doing what he does, and second-guessing some 'deeper motivation' is just woke assbites piping in.

Will Smith was an unmitigated asshole.
