Earlier today I opened a door for a chick at the workshop she took a step back and just looked at me till I eventually walked through the door myself and let it close.

 

Chivalry is not dead it's just not taught and it's a social problem when more then a generation has been raised by women solely whether by accident or design. Too many deadbeat dads and "girls" getting pregnant at such a young age when now we are paying for it as those children have been raised and now grown up by a less then an educated parent unprepared without a clue. It's changed the whole dynamic of family and commitment which takes "two" parents to raise a child even close to successfully, a woman can not raise a boy to be a man as only a woman can teach a girl to be a lady!

 

Okey dokey....it's a Southern term, possibly used in other areas besides mine. So is "ma'am". I work for the public now, and one day I'm going to count how many times I use the word. I was taught to say it. At my previous employer, it got me straight to a lawyer's desk. I said "good morning, ma'am to a newly hired gal. That, among other little complaints, got a sexual harassment case against us because it was a place that was too male oriented, says the lady. What a man hating ass.
I still open doors for ladies as most of us guys here do, and find it appreciated more times than none. After 34 years, my bride still gets the car door opened for her, her hand held in public, and is seated at a table before me. In the bedroom, there are still orgasms that even make the neighbors light a smoke. I mean total madness.
Sadly, the "friend zone" exists, but hang in there. Guys who still practice chivalry seem to still come out on top (or bottom if it's preferred) here.

 

Good point on how what we say as colloquial greetings can now be considered as "harassment" I've adopted Honey, Sweetheart, Darling as parts of my daily speech that I say "fuck them" if they can't take it. I didn't sign on to P.C. and perhaps never will at most less then a handful of women have corrected me and I see it every day in retail management and in people that are just looking for an excuse to be the victim. If you look for it you'll always find the racist in the whites and the chauvinist in the men but, only from those to ignorant to see that they have the problem not me or us!

All jokes aside, an issue that has not been touchef on was that some nice guys/nice girls keep trying to change the bad ones good when its a waste of time. If he stops, perhaps it's the lack of sex that caused him to stop giving a shit in the first place. I personally think it's rediculous when women withhold sex for whatever reason. Frankly, it could cause a man to wonder. If you're with the right man, he will do everything mentioned because he wants to and not because he thinks it will lead to sex. I feel the same way. If there is a woman I care enough about to be around I try to show my gratitude in every way. After a while it becomes a habit.

 

i used to do this when i go on dates but have since stopped. i stopped, because girls will EXPECT this from you and bothers them when you stopped. i had a gf who accused me of not loving her anymore and said i changed every time we argue, because i was as "chivalrous" as when we first dated. soooo i learned to keep expectations low/realistic. if it's not something i would do on a regular basis for the rest of my life, it's not something i'll do period.

I am this way by default, I love treating a women like one. Women are killing it though, Chivalry is dying more and more and its because women killed it.

 

I agree times and things have changed. Your right everyone pays for other people's mistakes. Men and women lose their trust due to all the bad relationships. This generation is all screwed up in their views on relationships. Your right in saying the ones that practice chivalry eventually come out on top. Maybe after a few life lessons along the way....they find a good woman. Then you just have to worry about building a strong relationship. I found a good woman 46 years ago, and have learned quite a few lessons along the way. A bit of chivalry is automatic, though showing affection by touching or kissing is reserved for private locations. I still find much to like in the younger generation. Many are screwed up, but many more that I associate with in a professional office seem to really have their heads screwed ons straight. Chivalry is not necessarily dead but seems to be evolving a bit to more of a give-and-take. With way more women in the workplace holding more professional positions, it is way different than it was 40 years ago. I open doors for women, but I also appreciate it when the woman ahead of me holds the door for me to get through instead of letting it slam in my face.
