Baller, I haven't been following it a whole lot, but are they investigating steroids in other sports as well? I'm sure this isn't just a baseball problem.

the NFL, NBA, etc, all have reliable testing for every steroid, and take care of problems with it(for an example, Shawne Merriman last year, even though he denied it, god suspended for using)

Oh I have no doubt. He said all 30 clubs had somebody who did steroids at some point

Plus, Bonds got indited(sp?) for perjury and obstruction of justice already

I love how the players representatives are all defending the players and trying to make them out to be victims, especially since Mitchell placed the blame on everybody

 

That's the feeling I got so far from reps who have chimed in on this. Also the local sports talk station is trying to make it out like fans don't really care if they used HGH and 'roids. One even called it a witch hunt.

 

One thing I just heard asked that got me wondering is, should those who are proven to have used steriods be allowed to be admitted into the Baseball Hall of Fame?

Roger Clemens was fingered in the report... i had heard the rumors but this is bad.


The Hall of Fame question is a tough one. Baseball hadn't banned steroids til a few seasons ago, so... But players have to be VOTED in so it is up to the sports writers in this case. i guess if sports writers want to vote in Bonds and Mcguire, the the HoF has to induct them. I dont like the idea though.

I think if Pete Rose just admitted he was betting on his games then the writers would vote him in.

Clemens has already came out and again denied he used steroids since the report was released. More have called the testimonies given to those preparing the report as false and erronious.
The new wrinkle in this is now some reporters are discussing if players mention can sue those who testified in the Mitchell report if the testimony they gave is proven to be false.
What I am waiting on is to hear the commisoner's response to the report. I wonder if he will try to put all the blame off onto the players and claim MLB, the owners, and himself are victims.

 

I agree with Mitchell on one big issue though. The most important thing, is for the players' union and the MLB to come together and deal with it, TOGETHER, instead of pointing blame like fuckin children, and go forward towards the future, not backward toards the stupid shit that got them here in the first place, the lack of accountability by anyone. I'm seriously disgusted by the players' behavior. People can claim they're victims, yea, yea, whatever, that's bullshit. They knowingly took substances to make them better, which is cheating and illegal, and they need to grow up, stop being little whiny kids, and accept it like men.

I tried to read that damn thing, but good God, it read almost like "The Starr" report back when Clinton was in office!

 

Reports like that seldom are short unless they found nothing at all. Even then they need to put out a 100 page report explaining why they found nothing.
