Yeah, @mstrman, it sure is a WTF moment. Rubio left out some important deals of the story, and embellished on others...

Guess you missed the part where Rubio left out some details on the story.

But of course, you're free to put words in my mouth.

    Oh?
    Educate us then, anon.
What details did Rubio leave out that justify putting someone in the hospital?
But of course you're welcome to make assumptions about what Shooter read in a report and what he concluded from it.

Shot Fired into Home of North Carolina GOP Congressional Candidate Pat Harrigan

The Cardinal Journal has learned that a shot was fired into the Hickory, North Carolina, home of Republican Congressional candidate Pat Harrigan on October 18, 2022, the bullet entering the home “only a few feet” from where Harrigan’s children were sleeping.

According to the Cardinal Journal, “Harrigan owns the home, which is currently occupied by his parents. … [and] Harrigan’s children were in the home when the incident occurred.”

Hickory Police Department spokesperson Kristen Hart said, “No one was injured, but the officers investigating did find evidence of a bullet casing which is being looked into.”

Harrigan is running in North Carolina’s 14th Congressional District against State Sen. Jeff Jackson (D).

On October 27 the Charlotte Observer noted that Harrigan wrote an open letter claiming the political campaign had become so vitriolic that he “wears a bulletproof vest to major public events and has received a death threat.”

In the letter, directed to Jackson, Harrigan said Jackson filmed a political ad in front of one of Harrigan’s Hickory homes in late September, and claims the ad opened his family up to greater danger.

Harrigan wrote, “As I travel, wherever my family is located, they are significantly less safe with me in this race. And they are even less safe now that you’ve shown one of my homes to the world.”

Harrigan wound down his letter to Jackson by observing, “There are many questions I have about you, your taxes, former home, current home, and your personal life. But I’m never going to film an ad in front of your home, violating the sanctity and security of your family.”

Violence Ramps up Against GOP Including Grisly Death Threat and Zeldin Supporter Being Choked
By Nick Arama | 8:00 PM on November 06, 2022

In the last days before the election, we’ve been seeing an uptick in violence and threats from folks from people on the left against people on the right over campaigns and the election. We reported on the violence against New Hampshire state Senate candidate Lou Garguilo, who said that he had a truck drive at him and his supporters, someone threw a coffee at him, and another person threw a power tool battery at his wife’s head.

There was another incident a few days ago. Scott Lennox was arrested after allegedly threatening Darren Bailey, the Republican gubernatorial candidate in Illinois, in a voicemail.

    Warning for graphic language

“I am going to skin Darren Bailey alive, making sure he is still alive. And I’m going to feed his f*cking family to him, as he is alive and screaming in f*cking pain.”

“He is a piece of white *ss racist sh*t and, honestly, if he doesn’t kill himself, I will. You know what. I know where he lives. I know where he sleeps. I know where his kids sleep. And I know the f*cking school he works at,” Lennox allegedly continued.

Lennox added that he would never shoot up a school, but Bailey is teaching “all this motherf*cking misinformation [and] is going to die. So, honestly, he should just kill himself before anything else happens.”

He went on to make statements about abortion, Scaduto said, but she did not detail those comments.

That practically screams like he’s absorbed the Democratic talking points against Republicans. When they tracked down the guy, he reportedly was proud of what he had done. “I literally made it so he and his entire family is on lockdown. I love it,” he supposedly said.

Then on Sunday, there was a report about “white powder” being sent to the Kari Lake campaign and one person who opened the mail being hospitalized as a precaution.

There was also violence directed at protesters at an event for Kathy Hochul. According to a female protester, she was holding up a sign that said “Vote them out” on the street at the event when she was attacked. A video by Viral News NY shows the woman being held by an NYC council person while at the same time being choked by a man.

    https://twitter.com/ViralNewsNYC/st...eat-and-zeldin-supporter-being-choked-n655475

The woman shoved the lawmaker, Crystal Hudson, off her at one point. You can hear the Hochul people screaming about “election deniers.”

The 24-second clip did not show how the fight began, but the unidentified woman told the photographer it started when someone took her sign, which featured pictures of Hochul and other Democrats with the tagline “Vote Them Out.”

“I was here holding my sign, and … peaceful protest, against you know, Gov. Hochul, and a woman — a very large heavyset woman, I’m assuming, you know, might have been a man — came and took my sign.

“As I was trying to retrieve my sign, there was another man that came and choked me, and there were two other people that were coming and preventing me from trying to get my sign.

“Never wanted to get physical with anyone, I was just there peacefully just holding my sign, and you know, they didn’t want to hear what I had to say.”

Where are the Democrats condemning this? I’m not hearing any condemnation from Gov. Kathy Hochul yet.

Indeed, a Democratic politician tried to blame it on Zeldin.

I’m thinking the election can’t come fast enough. But I’m not sure the violence will stop, the left isn’t going to be happy when they lose on Tuesday.

But you go right ahead and make it seem he represents Democrats in the slightest!

Are you? And if you don't do as well as you've been crowing about, are you going to accept the results? Or have you become an election denier?

Whether deplorables do as well as shooter thinks they will or not, he can't judge if the elections are fair and honest until they take place. He isnt a despicable, remember. Shooter waits for facts.

So, shooter is a denier. Leaving his options open. There is no history in the United States of any election fraud on the scale that would sway a federal election. Given that no significant evidence has been shown in any election that would change the outcome, I highly doubt it will manifest itself in this election. And considering all the Republicans that want to decide elections in their legislatures, I wouldn't put it past them actually trying to steal an election themselves.

What part of "he can't judge if the elections are fair and honest until they take place" slipped by you?
And you certainly aren't suggesting there has never been election fraud in the US, are you?
You wouldn't make that much of a mistake would you?
You do understand that the elections also include local and state elections, right?
And you do understand that local and state elections are as important as Federal elections, right?
And we can agree that election fraud has happened before, right?
So, it isn't such a stretch if someone says they'll wait until the elections take place to judge if there's any fraud, right?
Making such a statement doesn't indicate that they are what anon derisively calls a "denier", right?
      Have a nice day.

I didn't say that! This is you twisting my words.

      But that's what you do!

Then you can show elections that were rigged.

Duh! Can you show any that overturned the election?

The only reason why people are even questioning elections is because Donald Trump told you to... Yes, fraud occurs, but not on the scale that Trump implies. He lost every single court challenge he filed.

And this whole discussion started because you refuse to say that you'll accept the results of the election.

      Hence, you're a denier.

Shooter didn't say you did, he asked you to clarify that you weren't saying there has never been election fraud. Quit putting words in Shooters mouth.
Chicago Tribune exposed city vote fraud in 1972 — and won a Pulitzer
    • More than 1,000 specific acts of fraud exposed and documented from the primary election of March 21, 1972.
    • Seventy-nine election workers indicted for vote fraud in the March primary by a federal grand jury called as a result of The Tribune disclosures.
    • Thirty election workers found guilty and sentenced for fraud.
    • Forty-four indicted election workers awaiting trial and five others cleared of wrongdoing.
Election fraud Chicago style: Illinois’ decades-old notoriety for election corruption is legendary | Salon.com
Illinois’s tight laws don’t seem to reduce reports of fraud any more than in Louisiana, New York, and other states where elected officials face jail time for abusing the public trust. Quinn, who lost his reelection bid, became the fourth consecutive governor to face a federal investigation for corruption.

A political scientist at the University of Illinois at Chicago concluded, “The Chicago metropolitan region has been the most corrupt area in the country since 1976,” in an obdurate race to the bottom with Louisiana’s record. According to that 2012 study, Illinois is the third-most corrupt state in the union, after New York and California.

In addition, four consecutive corrupt governors and nearly one-third of Chicago’s one hundred alderpersons since 1973 have been convicted of corruption, mostly involving bribes to influence government decisions or for personal financial benefit.

And here, since you apparently can make decisions on happenings before they happen, and judge without facts, you can rant about this
united states - Was JFK's 1960 election win due to fraud? - Skeptics Stack Exchange

Nope, no more than you can show that Russian interference in 2016 put Trump in the White House, although that's been the despicable position since 2016.
No, Trump has never talked with Shooter. This is a lie and you know it. This isn't about Trump anyway. It's about you picking a fight with Shooter because Shooter makes fun of your apparent lack of intelligence and reading comprehension.
    Now see, there's another lie.
Shooter never said he wouldn't accept the results of tomorrow's election.
Shooter said he'll wait until the election is over.
Unlike despicables Shooter prefers to judge something after it's happened and we can see what it is that actually took place.
You can understand that approach, can't you?
You know, rather than jumping to an unproven conclusion for political expediency?

Rubio canvasser pleads the Fifth under oath when questioned about 'political attack'

    Sarah K. Burris
    November 07, 2022

It's been only a few weeks since a Republican canvasser wearing a Marco Rubio T-shirt said he was beaten up on the east side of Hialeah, a Miami suburb.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio went so far as to tweet that the canvasser was attacked by “animals who told him Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood.”

But in court on Monday, a defense attorney probed accuser Christopher Monzon about what he claimed happened. The attorney for one of the alleged attackers, Jonathan Casanova said that the fight actually happened as a result of a "testosterone-filled fisticuffs because Monzon was staring at his client’s girlfriend," reported the Herald.

"Even the prosecutor said he did not believe politics had anything to do with the incident, instead urging the judge that the 'case should be looked at on the facts,'" they said according to the story.

“So you agree with me you didn’t tell them,” said Penate Hernandez, an assistant public defender.

“I mentioned the word word ‘canvassing,’ which implied they had a problem with me canvassing there,” Monzon said. He went on to say “it was my interpretation of what happened.”

The judge in the case also agreed not to keep the other alleged attacker, Javier Lopez, in prison during the trial, after he said prosecutors established enough evidence that Lopez may have committed a crime, but the surveillance videos “do not clearly reflect who was the initial aggressor in this incident.”

When lawyers peppered Monzon with questions, there were some he refused to answer, including whether he changed his story on after Rubio's tweet. It was after he saw Rubio's tweet he told police detectives it was politically motivated.

“You want the world to believe that this is a politically motivated crime,” Penate Hernandez asked.

“What I want is the truth,” Monzon claimed.

Monzon's story is that he was walking past Lopez's house while canvassing for GOP votes. He was looking down at his phone when the two men began talking to him about walking too close to Lopez's car. Monzon said he tried explaining what he was doing and the men told him he had “to leave the neighborhood and that my life is now in danger.”

They taunted him, he said and threatened to shoot him. Then they rushed him.

The lawyers for the two men say that it was Monzone who was the aggressor and that he was upset he was being taunted. Instead of walking away, he re-engaged the men.

“This case is basically a he-said-she-said,” public defender Penate Hernandez said. “At the very least, it shows evidence of mutual combat.”

When Lopez and Casanova started telling him to leave and “do your job — he walked back toward them. Monzon admitted he didn’t just walk away."

“You were so scared for your life that you walked toward the threat,” Penate Hernandez said.

“Yes, because I wasn’t sure what would happen if I turned my back,” Monzon replied.

The video appears to show that Lopez was the one backing up away from Monzon.

Penate Hernandez also asked Monzon why there were members of the right-wing militia group the Proud Boys visiting him in the hospital.

“I plead the fifth on the grounds I was not conscious at the time,” Monzon claimed.

READ: 'There will be hell to pay': Electoral mayhem forecast in battleground states

Ironically, prosecutors don't have to prove Lopez and Casanova's motives for the attack one way or another. What will be part of the case is whether the young men were involved in self-defense or if it was about "mutual combat." If it can be declared that, under Florida's "Stand Your Ground Law" any person can use force if they feel there is a threat.

Penate Hernandez also asked about the overwhelming publicity that Monzon has recieved as a result of the attack.

“But you were very happy that it happened,” she asked. “You were very honored that it happened.”

Monzon told her, “I said I appreciated it.”
