  3. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

There seems to be a lot of ragging on everyone one in this thread. Its fiction and prooved hugely popular, it never claimed to be and advanced level thesis on the subject. Crime thrillers and horror fiction havent necessarily been written by authors who have actually disembowled someone personally-

Anyway my wife read all 3 and she could have been reading about winter perenials for how much it worked on her libido. Not wanting her to become a sub or anything but you might have been forgiven or thinking that it might have done something.

Nope not even so much as a sideway glance sexually.

That's it? That is all that you have to respond with? Wow, good call by me. You obviously read like a book, a rather predictable and disappointing one.

Why the hate for this book?

The book may not be a good introduction to the serious BDSM scene but if it gives pleasure and encourages a little kinkiness in the bedroom then it adds to the sum of human happiness.

As a veteran of the punk wars it's reminiscent of Black Flag or Minor Threat fans criticising Nirvana for being too mainstream In fact Nirvana became famous by accident and actually at root shared their punk values.

That's not to compare 50 Shades with Nirvana artistically but the debate itself sounds a little familiar.

Oh, and I do know a woman who read 50 Shades and it rocked her world enough for her to leave her vanilla husband for someone a little more exciting. She directly credits the book.

I'm not hating on others in this thread, I'm not saying it's a 'good book'. But it has had an impact beyond the world of porn forums.

Because it is so poorly written. I mean it's BAD. It started off as Twilight Fan Fiction and somehow accidentally got taken seriously. The difference is Nirvana had talent and a message they wanted to share. This is someone selling a terribly composed piece of drivel and not only is the author obviously uneducated about the lifestyle she represented, she's not even apologetic or willing to present the book with an admission that this is not an accurate portrayal at all.

When the christian conservatives got all worked up over DaVinci code, no one went "why all the hate?" People were at least understanding (if not sympathetic) to the fact that they felt a significant part of their lifestyle had been misrepresented and bastardized by an author (who, I'll point out, did WAY more research than the 50 shades woman could even fathom).

I respect that it gets wives wet and husbands laid. And if that's all it's being used for, great. But for those of us in the lifestyle who are trying to help others who are new and don't know the perils and pitfalls, it's a nightmare. It has led to an influx of women who claim they are or want to be submissive or masochistic or what have you. And they have no idea what that really means. They have no idea the months and years of time people put into safety and precaution to be sure that whatever aspect of the lifestyle is practiced, it's done safely. They have no idea that when you "belong" to someone, it's not just about them being some millionaire who tends to all your needs but that YOU are expected to be an equal contributor to the relationship. That lifestyle relationships take time and effort. And aren't something anyone should just jump into willy nilly cause they read some twilight fan fiction.

THAT is the problem that I (and many others) have with this book. I can't tell you how much more often I encounter Doms fretting and furious because they had another wanna be sub who claimed they knew what they were getting into but not only didn't understand the lifestyle but wanted to dictate to THEM, The Dom how the relationship was going to play out.

It's a recipe for a lot of people to find misery, hurt, and heartbreak that could easily be avoided.

But as I said before.... if it's only used as your wife's porn and it gets a husband's dick wet. Cool. It's the use of it as some kind of "How to BDSM" that gets people worked up.

Hey Snooch. We found something to agree on.

Best use of that book is to wipe your arse on it.

I do agree with you in a sense. I mean the author did not claim to be writing a BDSM guide book. It was simply a erotic story. Which apparently people around the world enjoyed. As it was a number one seller. Who cares if it's not totally portraying the BDSM lifestyle. I did not read them as guide books and I'm sure that is not why most others did either. I think people's being a bit cynical and taking this way to serious....chill it's just a erotic sex novel. Lol if it turns women on and they enjoy the read that's all that really matters.

    With you.

If I was in the BDSM scene like Snoochies and others I might feel differently but as it is I think there is room for errr, different shades here. A lot of people are just not able to say they want to be tied down or whatever. If they can communicate that to their others easier now then good.

Actually, and though I have never read it, the books were "really" not enjoyed all that much by many people. They were simply marketed well and the Sheeple all agreed, they loved the Emperor's new clothes whether they liked them or not. Most folks are more about being a part of a fad then really enjoy it.

There is a reason the book "I'm Okay, You're Okay" was eventually replaced by "I'm Okay, You're not so Hot".

I do agree it was a fad for alot of women. Well she read it and so I should too kind of thing. But never the less it was still a best seller. And for most women that read it they knew nothing about the BDSM scene to know the difference if it was accurately portrayed or not.

Seems to me we have managed to stray away from the OPs post to become Pulitzer prize winning writers. OK so its probably not going to win any literary prizes and seems to have pissed off a whole bunch of BDSM aficionados, going by some of the comments one here.. Well so what!

If our OPs wife became more sexually agressive it is because she realised that she could have sex and actually enjoy it, she could want sex and not feel guilty about it and perhaps sex wasnt simply something to be done with the lights out and the covers on and then not discussed.

Sex should involve the mind and all the other senses too. If the book awakened that in her then I say hoorah and yippee. That has to be a good thing Non?

Well, I am the only guy I have ever heard of who has read the series. I sort of enjoyed it, not a ton, but a little. I didn't read it for an entry manual to BDSM, cuz I had NO clue that it was related to BDSM, I just kept hearing about the stupid book and for some reason, felt I had to find out for myself what all the hype was about, so I bought them and read them. Afterwards, I learned it started out as fanfiction of Twilight, and having been forced to watch most of the movies, I could see the similarities. Now, it didn't get me all hot and horny like many women claim it does, because it is written as Ana narrating, so it is a female perspective and a female can imaginatively place herself in the situation, the thoughts and feelings described, etc. I couldn't. It was a very hard read for me because of how poorly written it is, and I considered doing a shot of whiskey every time "He murmured" was in said, but I quickly realized that even my level of drinking large quantities, I would surely die. What I can say about it, is it was an eye-opener. I mean, I knew there was this whole BDSM scene, and I understand that many of those members hate this book for it's inaccuracies, I get it, I'm a building contractor and electrical engineer, when I see a house being built in a movie, I can pick out SEVERAL building code violations, and things that are just plain stupid to do the way it is shown, all within the few second long scenes that they show a view of the construction and not closeups of the characters...and shows like Big Bang Theory rattle out formulas and theories about electricity or other topics that I excelled in during Physics, that are inaccurate, just plain wrong, or simply retarded to even mention two thoughts in the same sentence because they are so far unrelated....I get very irritated, but that doesn't change the fact that the general public enjoys these shows or movies, just like they enjoy 50 Shades. Anyway, I feel the book really helped me in understanding more of what women may enjoy. Before I always tried to make sure everything was very equal in the bedroom...after this book, I have learned that women may enjoy being man-handled and kinda roughed up with spanking and such...and I have learned that I enjoy tossing a girl around the bedroom and tying her up, etc...but just for a fun night, not as a lifestyle. I still enjoy vanilla sex, or to just lay back and let her have her way with me...it is simply fun to act like Christian Grey for a few hours in the bedroom, and she really enjoys it as well...and this book has helped open that door for us. Now, if I had more interest in exploring further, I have found several reliable sources for research, and will pretty much forget everythign I read in 50 Shades...but until that point, I still feel that although horribly written and a shitty portrayal of BDSM, it as still helped my sex life.

It is a canopy version of the story of "o". Which is a much better story and has been made into a porn movie multiple times.

My 60yo wife is up for almost anything sexually except. no ass play at all. She read the book and now wants butt plugs. Maybe I will get some of that tight ass after all.
