Ahh ... as far as I know (and NFL rules aren't my strongest suit, they change too often) it's not an offence to tackle/hit the kicker until after the ball's gone.

It shouldn't be, because if you're not allowed to collide with the kicker you can't ever try to block the ball by jumping in front of it.

I know for sure you're not allowed to touch a punter until way after he punted. Im sure same rules applied to kickers

 

It is. You can't touch a kicker or punter at any time, just like you can't hit a QB after he's thrown the ball.

Most of his career until now has consisted of standing underneath the ball making a fair-catch signal. Hardly surprising you didn't know much about him.

 

Of a punter, that seems an even sillier rule. He's actually holding the ball, but if you get to him before he punts it you're not allowed to tackle him and end the play?

Arizona's QB Skelton is not an especially high quality player, but here is his line from the first half of today's game - ouch!

That part is true. If in a fg position and person picks up ball then kicking is null and void and you can tackle

 

No I mean before the kicker gets a chance to kick it.
