It is my understanding that their very small supply consists entirely of the old fissile design: U235, collapsed via concussives, and so heavy that it must be dropped from a plane. Am I wrong about that? I am almost entirely sure that their bombs have a single fissile stage, triggered barometrically (by altitude), just like the Hiroshima bomb.

Exactly. If President Obama or the Democrats suggest negotiating with North Korea its the most terrible thing possible. But when Trump says he would be "HONORED" to sit down and talk with lil' Kim they cheer. But as the experts are pointing out Trump just elevated and validated lil' Kim and North Korea higher than any US President in history.

And I also want to point out it is just plain stupid to speculate on whether or not North Korea can use its nukes when they don't need their nukes to inflict more than a million casualties and there is no way to stop them from doing that. All that speculation proves is that North Korea is not a nuclear threat yet and their is still a chance for diplomacy and sanctions to work.

On the other hand , put it on a fishing boat , hidden in the superstructure , and run it aground at the target sight , could be very effective..

There are thousands of fishing vessels , of the type we bought , in Asian waters , of all nationalities .
Apart from the bow and stern , they are a flat bottom box section of relatively shalow draft and built to be sat on the beach when nescassary , so easily run ashore at speed.
With about a dozen bottom fuel tanks , and easily sealable holds , very difficult to disable or sink quickly.

That way , although very low , at least you would have an above ground explosion , on solid ground.
Not the optimum , but far more devastating I'm sure.

But , put it in a plane and roll it out the door or crash it would be much easier

 

But you need to remember there is someone watching every step they make.

Why shouldn't the leader of our country set down with a leader of another country. Especially if it could save the lives of so many people?
that is what a leader is supposed to do. Sadly we haven't had a leader in many years. Some people just don't understand the meaning of the word leader.

China was always the best option.

The trouble is , the US/West seem unable to get over the old reds under the bed syndrome ,
and unable to realise things have moved on a long way ,
since the days of Mao , and the "cultural revolution".

No one is going to change China from the outside.
They are arguably one of the oldest , and probably the most successful country in the history of human civilisation.
They've had their ups and downs ,
but they've been around for thousands of years.
Even the Romans prized Chinese silks over 2,000 years ago.
Alexander the Great knew of them , and their reputation.
The silk roads are not myth , they crisscrossed into eastern Europe , Persia and the Indus valley from Greek times and earlier.

There is no avoiding them , (the Chinese)
and there is no telling them what to do , or how ,
or how to run their country.
They don't go to war , so you can't beat them.
The only option is to get on with them , talk decently with , and negotiate reasonably and respectfully with them.

A major factor in dealing with and getting on with Chinese , is respect.
Showing it.
Insulting , accusing , and other negative nonsense is just a waste of time.

Everyone else avoided it , left it festering , and did nothing to claim their bits of rock.
The US basically pulled out of the area.

There is nothing wrong about that .
It's mostly a result of the way things were ,
and a good job to.
But the way things are now ,
is China has bases in it's front yard.

 

This is a good assessment and there is one other thing about China that has always impressed me. When first contacted by Europeans the overriding belief then (and some people still believe it today) was that the Earth was only 6,000 years old and that the Great Flood and Noah's Ark was an absolute historical fact.

But the Chinese had written records that went back further than 6,000 years and there was no mention of a Great Flood in any of them.
