It is my thought that England was one of the last European countrys that to hit the automobile with tax.. In the steam days they held off, and the early gasoline days.. they held off. They were very lax on road laws in the beginning.. Except for that silly one about if your vehicle went over 5 MPH at night, you had to have someone run out in front with a lantern..

Do you know of a chart for the taxes on the automobile in UK??

you can see a chart on emmissions at www.dvla.gov..im not rich either but ok ish. theres also talk of a smart box in cars to 'pay as you drive' via a tracker system. However i also think you are right when you say its another govt tax. Have you heard about our speed cameras all over the place with instant £60 fines...four of these in 3 years and you get banned for 6mnths! i currently have 2 with 18mnths to go.

The congestion charge in London is fantastic, what a wonderful man Ken Livingston is for getting all the poor and their horrible little cars off the roads. Whenever I stay at my club I can drive right through the city in half the time and parking my Bentley has never been easier.

A friend who goes there, told me that in Singapore, each car has a meter and you pay per mile for driving. He said that Singapore is the UN's test case for the future world government.

They are determined to take all of our income, and keep us figuratively poor, pregnant, and barefoot.

It’s just my little town car, the continental GTC really isn't suitable for the chauffer. But to stay on topic, I really am a fan of Mayor Ken’s congestion charge.

1) It helps the environment because the masses use buses and trains.

2) The minority of us that use cars pay so Ken can buy more busses for the masses (I feel so philanthropic)

3) It leaves the roads clear for me.

A win, win, win!

I also love John Prescott’s pay motorway through Birmingham best couple of quid per trip one can spend.

1) I can fly through Birmingham congestion free


2) Mondeo man’s congestion has also been eased because of all the who choose the new pay road. (I always feel so good helping the poor)


3) We get nice new roads without the need for extra taxes
