Not single elimination yet, but anytime you can beat the Canucks at their own game on their home turf it is an exceptional feat. Go USA!

 

If we (Canada) had played the whole game as hard as they did in the last few minutes it would have been a different outcome I think. But they played the first two periods as if they were playing against Brazil. That US goalie was phenomenal.
Hopefully we will be matched up again for the gold.

 

Let's hope we both make it, a North America championship game for the gold. The stuff Olympic memories are made.

 

Personnelly I do not like the Canadian team ... bunch of over paid ego's ....
to me an Olympian is someone who has trained and competed for years without ripping us off with shoddy performances.

the Canadian Ice Dance team of Moir and Virtue .... 13 years of practice and competing ... the USA team of Davis and White ..who practice with Moir and Virtue in Detroit ..same coach ... then compete with all they have against each other ...
or Penny Coomes and Nik Buckland from UK..... gave it their all ...received a low mark .......... the crowd boo'd the judges ...

These dudes come here, make their livings, and every four years they go back to their birthland and beat the snot out of us. America's better to these guys than Canada or Russia ever was! They could be home fighting for lake time with the local curling team.

I am happy that the US won----but come on! Stop acting like this was some kind of 'David vs Goliath' thing.

Here were two essentially evenly matched teams, where either one could beat the other on any given day (seriously---if they played a nine game series, it would probably end up 5-4 one way or the other).

It was not even a real "home-ice advantage" for Canada---unless, at a stretch, you played for the Canucks. (Do you think that announcers say "Hey, the Maple Leafs really have an advantage playing the Canucks here in Vancouver today because most of Toronto's players are Canadian!"?)

The big deal all spun around the MUST win for the Canadian team because Canada had not shown up at the last two Olympics held in the country. If anything, that desperation gave the US team a psychological advantage.

I'm glad they won----it is great---but it was no 'Miracle On Ice'....

 

i was upset that Canada got beat, but come on how hard is it to score on an open net.

oh right thats something that only USA can do.
