I hope the Wings monkey stomp Bettmans love child Cindy Crosby! Go WINGS!!!

 

...been a Pens fan since the Super Mario days, so yeah I'm hoping they beat the hell outta the Wings. Let them do it in a knock down, drag out, legendary seven game series for the ages so that it'll be decisive.

I just can't take the swagger of the Wings these days and truly feel as though they and their fans have become the hockey equivalent of the Yankees.

Plus it'd be so gratifying to have Hossa eat his words; traitoriously jumping ship to the team he thought had the better shot to win a Cup, only to lose to the one he left behind. Oh, I DREAM of this! lol

Suri, I wouldn't really worry about the ney-sayers for your pinup boy. While he has been mighty whiny in the past and I believe that Malkin is the more complete player, Sid has already won the league MVP and the scoring title before what, age 23? Anyone who calls him over-rated not only doesn't know sports but has their head up their asses. He has become more of a silent leader this year and has totally stepped it up in the post-season. All the stars can't be flashy like that guy sitting home...what is his name?

1. While Detroit and Pgh are both rust belt towns, Pittsburgh has a lot more going for it, always being losted as one of America's top places to live whilst Detroit hits the places to avoid list. Score one for Pgh.

Pittsburgh has the Steelers; Detroit has the Lions. Score another for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is on the Mississippi Ohio navigation system. Score still another for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh has Carnegie Tech and Pitt doing pretty well in collegiate sports. What does Detroit have? Score a fourth for Pittsburgh?

Pittsburgh has the Pirates; Detroit has the Tigers? Call it equal, or maybe a slight edge for Detroit.

Hey, Mr tally man tally the advantages! You might feel sorry for Detroit. Of course; they're still pretty cocky and I want Pgh to do it decisively in 4.

You better believe that the wings and their fans have some fuckin' swagger. When Pittsburgh makes the post-season eighteen straight years come see me. Not to mention we show no signs of slowing down. We have four cups in the last twelve years alone, you guys have two in the early nineties. period. As far as becoming the yankees you are way off. The yankees do not have a hard salary cap like we do and so they go out and sign as many big names as possible. The yankees do not develop young talent, they buy aging big name players. Guys on this team have restructured their contracts and played for less money to help bring in more talent. What's wrong with having more desire for winning than making money? The wings have bought talent in the past but the salary cap era has ended that. We have one hell of a farm system and regularly send kids to the minors that would start anywhere else in the league. Why? Because we develop youth and have great scouting. I'm sick and tired of people comparing the wings to the yankees. All teams are allowed to spend the same amount of money. Is it our fault that our ownership, management, scouting, coaching and talent is superior? I think not. It's not an accident that we are the single greatest organization in all of professional sports. let's re-cap.

1. the yankees buy who they want. the wings no longer do or can.
2. the yankees don't operate under a hard salary cap. the wings do.
3. the yankees don't rely on developing young players. the wings do.
4. all nhl teams are allowed to spend the same amount of money.
5. we have superior personnel from the top to bottom compared to most teams.
6. none of the above makes us anything like the yankees.

I said crosby is over rated because people like yourselves and gary fuckin" bettman have anointed him the next gretzky, the savior of the nhl, the best player in the league. I don't deny that the kid is special but he has a ways to go to live up to everything that has been pinned on him. Malkin is the better of the two....hands down. How can he be the best when he's not even the best on his team?

For the record i can't stand ovechkin either. I'm so sick and tired of seeing that spazz piss his pants every time he scores a goal. come on dude, act like you've been here before.

What the fuck does this have to do with hockey? How many times in your life have you said "it's okay to be cocky if you back it up". Wings fans are cocky and the wings back it up. You have to admit that the wings organization is much more classy than cocky. I prefer confident.

It's not an accident that we are the single greatest organization in all of professional sports. Does that make us cocky? As fans, yes. The ownership, management and players are far from cocky or arrogant. Confident? Yes. This is a blue collar town and cocky and arrogant doesn't fuckin' get it when it comes to our athletes.

 

OK no one cares how cool a town Pittsburgh is or what other teams play there, it has no meaning in the world of hockey. We all agree that Detroit is pretty much the arm pit of the US but I've been to both towns and they have very striking similarities... That said, enough with the nonsense and lets talk hockey.

The Pens are a talented but still young team. Crosby is a great player, but he has yet to live up to the hype. You can't compare him to Gretzky or Lemiuex until he wins a few cups. The NHL did the same thing as the NBA with Lebron James and we are seeing how that can back fire. The Penguins while flashy and very offensive, lack the depth to compete with the Red Wings. The Wings need to neutralize 2 players, Malkin and Crosby. The Penguins would need to neutralize most of the Wings roster to win.

It should be a great series, the Pens will probably even win a couple of games but in the end the Detroit Red Wings will once again hoist Lord Stanley's Cup. Red Wings in 6!!!

As for the comment about the Wings being like the Yankees. Detroit doesn't pay for their talent, guys (like Hossa) come to the Wings, take shorter contracts for less money with the realization that they are a part of something bigger and are usually rewarded with the Stanley Cup. The Yankees throw money around to win, they buy their players. The players on the Red Wings are there for the cup not the money.

I will say that although detroit is a deeper team pittsburgh does have four legitimate lines and we have yet to see that in this post season. It will be a good series and i stick to my previous prediction of six games and a detroit championship.
