    Urine is actually 100% sterile unless there is a bladder infection or UTI. You'll learn that in any anatomy class. I also know it firsthand, because I'm a vet tech student, and last year in my microbiology lab we tested the urine of 3 different dogs. In each one, we did a cystocentesis (insertion of a needle through the abdominal wall and into the bladder to collect urine aseptically) and then we did a "free catch" where they just pee normally into a dish. We cultured each sample and the cysto samples grew 0% bacteria after 48 hours in the incubator. The free catch samples grew some bacteria, because the external genitalia always have bacteria on them that the urine picks up as it exits the urethra (same with people, unless you've just scrubbed yourself really well).
