We in Canada have `multiculturalism' and the US has a `melting pot' as some of us know.
Cultural rejection happens. In the early 90s (in Canada) it was at about 25% (DSM IV), I fear now that this has increased, and this is not just among Muslims.

We cannot, or should not? legislate morality.
I think for some things, like social customs, it is respect shown to the host country, for an immigrant, or resident, to obey them.

It has been suggested that we should have a two-tiered legal system. One for Muslims (Sharia Law) and another for those that are not of this religion, our existing laws.
I do not support this at all, I would say that this will cause animosity and resentment.
What say others on my last point?

 

decision made

i made a decision. i can't keep dl on mind friend list. i have been reading threads that he has posted in over the past few weeks and a significant moral gap exists between him and i. most evidently is his racism but there is also an element sexist bigotry.

i'm pretty pissed at what went on. i don't give a fuck if you don't me smc and my feeling towards you is indifference. i think throwing that in my face along with dl's racism crap was low. i'm not fucking carrie_j either!

i'm pissed at everyone who threw dl's shit it in my face too. i resisted looking into this issue because of that crap. finally, after someone spoke with me in non-abrasive way without a boat load of insults being thrown at me i did drop my guard and looked into it.

i would like to thank richief for talking with me in kind way eventually and allowing me to feel like i could drop my guard and look into this racism issue objectivity. itime and ace ended up being kind too. thanks guys.

 

Well I never realised it would stir such interest, but if you must know we swap recipes, Chrissie gives me instructions on authentic TexMex dishes and I tell her how to make a traditional English Curry. Sometimes we discuss the weather, she moans it is too hot in Texas and I moan it is too cold in England. Oh and sometimes we discuss sport.:excited:

 

It's not cold in UK, Damp yes but cold nope. Take it from some one that lives in the snowiest nation on earth & the second coldest.
