Exactly...I'd never throw a woman out my bed because she had differing political, religious, or social views than me...certain character flaws may disqualify her, but with duct tape and proper discipline I could silence her as I address any of those issues.

very true but the burka should be baned in airports, railway stations and banks just like a biker cant where his full face helmet and if a shop keeper refuses to serve some one hiding their identity then thats up to them

i personally find the burka to be personally insulting

 

They should only be forced to remove them at security points, or any were that pic ID is required, Banks can ask for them to be removed as should doctors, shopkeepers can I suppose once you are on the premises, but I cant see the security implications in buying a dozen tomatoes is, unless paying by credit card.

I think if they are comming to our country they should be ready to obey our laws, just as if we go to their country we should obey theirs.

of course if they come to western countries they can still keep their religion but if laws overlap sometimes then it should be the countries laws that win. they cant, and SHOULD NOT expect to come to our country and change it to suit them, they came to western countries, for a better life or whaterver reasons, so they need to be ready to embrase all of it not the parts that suit them.

they cannot expect us to change our laws to suit them, (and if we dont we get called racist), if they wont change their laws to suit us. who is really racist?? thats my question.

 

Kittyx there's no law in Oz that says they can't wear a burka, so that argument is shot......Immigrants know they have to embrace the laws of their new country and they all do it..but why should they be spat on and called names because they follow a different religion, or wear different clothes.

Remember Oz is a multicultural society and we all need to get along and respect that someone might not have the same beliefs as yourself. It's easier and better for the future if we calmly discuss our religious and cultural differences and embrace it to make this a better place for all of us.

 

Muslimm women do fit into our society since our society is made of many cultures. Some muslim women are more traditional while others are not. I know of two sisters where one covers her hair and wears long clothes while the other dresses in "regular" clothes and doesn't cover her hair.

We eventually accepted the Catholics. They still haven't accepted some parts of our culture (like, here in the US we don't fuck children), but many of them are quite nice.

 

lofty principles but how do you handle immigrants who insist there customs and laws are above yours and want to establish enclaves with in your country for them run by their laws

Muslim law as given by the prophet Mohamed and explained to me by a Muslim gives no requirement fro Muslim women to where the burka
this is a later ruling by men who obviously consider themselves to know better than the prophet Mohamed who's teachings they profess to follow

 

When people came to America years ago they came here to become Americans.

Don't just look at muslims for doing that..Orthodox Jews have been doing that for years, as did the Vietnamese when they first arrived after the Vietnam War...and now we have all those religious cults like the Plymouth Brethren who destroy families if they have a non-believer in them.

From what i have seen people of muslim faith are more than willng to follow the rules of their new country.......though there's always one or two that fuck it up for the rest of them, every nationality has their pricks, including us white folks.

but again how do you handle an immigrant who claims that the law of the land infringes their human right to religious freedom and demands that the law is changed so as not to apply to them
