More than half of Americans don't think Donald Trump is fit to serve as president, yet he has a clear path to winning re-election. If Trump isn't removed from office and doesn't lead the country into some form of global catastrophe, he could secure a second term simply by maintaining his current level of support with his political base.

We have entered a new era in American politics. The 2016 election exposed how economic, social and cultural issues have splintered the country and increasingly divided voters by age, race, education and geography. This isn't going to change.

Despite dismal poll numbers, Trump enters the contest with a job approval rating that is certainly at least marginally better than what the current national polls would suggest. Throughout the 2016 election, most analysts tracked the national polling, which failed to capture Trump's strength in key battleground states. Current surveys continue to understate his support. Many national polls survey all eligible voters, rather than registered or likely voters, which can underestimate Trump, and some voters may be reluctant to admit that they are pro-Trump at all. Add to that the fact that Trump effectively demonstrated during the 2016 campaign that he is capable of expanding his support by effectively demonizing his opponents.

 

The most popular politician in the United States is not Donald Trump, but Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist.

Sanders will probably be too old to run in 2020, but he points the way forward for the Democrats. Hillary was too close to Wall Street to galvanize the country during a period of economic angst.

The well paying factory and mine jobs Trump promised to restore are not coming back. Any of those jobs that do come back will not pay much more than a job at a fast food restaurant.

If Trump wavers on immigration he will be in trouble. For the alt right curtailing or stopping non white immigration entirely is the most important issue.

 

I have seen no indication of Trump ''wavering'' on much of anything.

That's up from the last quarter of 2016 when the number stood at 10,368 -- an increase of 1,034 jobs.

Immigration arrests up, deportations down under Trump

Immigration courts have long been overburdened, with regular deportation cases taking up to two years to complete because of the volume of cases. The Trump administration has added to that backlog by arresting more people and cutting back on the Obama administration policy of allowing undocumented immigrants to be free on bond as they await their court hearings.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has dispatched 25 more immigration judges to detention centers along the southwest border with Mexico and wants to add more. The Justice Department's goal is to hire 50 immigration judges this year and 75 in the following year.

 

Trump took credit for inventing the phrase "fake news" in an interview with Mike Huckabee on Sunday ... and he coined the word "fake" as well if you ever wondered where that word came from !!!

They really need to start televising his interviews on the Comedy Network.

 

So I watched President Dotard's interview with Hannity. I am curious when President Dotard is going to actually state what he is going to do to solve problems in this country instead of giving a campaign speech.

I think Chicago is on pace to surpass homicides and shootings from last year. Hannity continues to blame President Obama while President Dotard says what the hell do you have to lose.

Hmm. Maybe offer a suggestion instead of campaign slogans. This is Dotard's watch, not Obama's watch.

 

If the democratic party was not so damn crooked Bernie would have been their choice.

But why just this soldier? Is Trump going to stiff all the other fallen troops? Like he did Florida. and Puerto Rico?

 

As workers nearly complete the first prototypes of President Trump’s border wall, next week the Department of Homeland Security will begin testing which designs best deter and prevent illegal immigrants from entering the U.S.



U.S. Customs and Border Protection awarded eight contracts to six companies to build the prototypes. Four are made of reinforced concrete, the others involve alternate materials, mostly steel.

Each model is 18 to 30 feet high and 30 feet long. Contractors have until Oct. 26 to complete their design before testing begins. All of the construction is taking place a few miles east of San Diego.

 

Again I ask: how can we pay for this while cutting taxes? I have quoted Trump saying that we can pay off the national debt in eight years with "better trade deals."

By "better trade deals" Trump means "higher tariffs." Higher tariffs will mean higher prices for consumer goods. Other countries will respond with higher tariffs of their own, reducing the amount of American made goods sold abroad.

Florida Democratic Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, basking in national attention following her blistering attack on President Donald Trump over a condolence call to the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed in Niger on October 4 with three other Americans, bragged to reporters Thursday afternoon that she is now a “rock star” following criticism by White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly (USMC Ret), himself a Gold Star father.



According to VoteSmart.org, “Wilson has frequently voted against measures intended to help veterans and their families.”

Wilson’s voting record on veterans issues may call into question the sincerity of her recent defense of U.S. service members and their families.

She has voted against most bills ensuring continued funding for veteran benefits, including payments to widows of fallen soldiers, the vote-tracking site shows.

She has also opposed measures designed to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In March 2013, Wilson opposed the “Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act,” which prevented a government shutdown and provided funds for the U.S. military and the VA.

The bill, which passed with bipartisan support and was signed into law by the Obama administration, provided funding to the military and the VA until the next government shutdown showdown.

Later in the year, Wilson again voted against a resolution aimed at ensuring benefits paid to the veterans and their families would not be affected by the government shutdown in October that year.

 

That bitch should not even be called a human. Imagine how the family feels. They lost a family member and when the president called to try to give them some praise for their family member she had to throw shit on it for political reasons. That is low.
