    Trump needs to be careful.
You see, in New York a woman can accuse a man ................. any man ................ of the most heinous things, like rape and assault and abuse. They don't need proof, can claim they have evidence and then refuse to divulge it, can "not recall" details that could be used to impeach their claims (like dates and times) and they can even wait 10 years before making their claims. When their target objects and it makes the media, they get to sue the poor fuck for defamation.

Judge orders Trump to pay nearly $400,000 for New York Times' legal fees

Judge orders Trump to pay nearly $400,000 for New York Times' legal fees

Washington — A judge in New York has ordered former President Donald Trump to pay nearly $400,000 to cover The New York Times' legal fees from a now-dismissed lawsuit he brought against the paper, three of its reporters and his niece.

Trump sued the New York Times in 2021, accusing the paper of conspiring with his estranged niece, Mary Trump, to obtain and publish his tax records. New York Judge Robert Reed dismissed the lawsuit against with the Times and its reporters in May 2023, ruling that they were protected under the First Amendment and ordering Trump to cover their legal fees.

On Friday, Reed determined that $392,638.69 was "a reasonable value for the legal services rendered," given the complexity of the case and the attorneys involved. (A portion of the lawsuit against Mary Trump was allowed to proceed, and her request to be reimbursed for legal fees was denied in June.)

In 2018, New York Times reporters Susanne Craig, David Barstow and Russell Buettner published an investigation into Trump's wealth and taxes, revealing details from tax filings the former president had been unwilling to release publicly, claiming they were under audit. The paper later won a Pulitzer Prize for its reporting.

"Today's decision shows that the state's newly amended anti-SLAPP statute can be a powerful force for protecting press freedom," a spokesperson for The New York Times said Friday, referring to a law meant to discourage frivolous defamation cases aimed at silencing defendants. "The court has sent a message to those who want to misuse the judicial system to try to silence journalists."

Trump claimed in his $100 million lawsuit that the reporters were aware of a settlement agreement barring Mary Trump from disclosing certain documents. He alleged that the paper and the reporters engaged in an "insidious plot" to illegally obtain copies of his tax records from his niece.

A spokesperson for Alina Habba, Trump's attorney who represented him in the case, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday's order. When Reed tossed the lawsuit last year, Habba said, "All journalists must be held accountable when they commit civil wrongs. The New York Times is no different and its reporters went well beyond the conventional news gathering techniques permitted by the First Amendment."

Longtime Donald Trump adviser Boris Epshteyn tried to speak out in the defamation trial brought by author E. Jean Carroll on Tuesday. He was denied.

Politico legal reporter Eric Orden captured the moment on social media, quoting Judge Lewis Kaplan as he asked Epshteyn, "Are you a member of the bar of this court?"

Epshteyn replied, "I'm a member of the New York State Bar."

"Alright, then please have a seat," said the judge.

The MAGA purist Epshteyn has been previously criticized by former Trump attorneys for playing into the former president's worst instincts.

In September, three sources with information about the departure of Trump lawyer Drew Findling's told Rolling Stone that his exit was, in part, about Epshteyn.

It's the "same kind of power struggles that have long plagued Trump’s legal teams, even (or, especially) during times when Trump is trying his hardest to stay out of prison," the report said.

Former Trump lawyer, Michael Cohen, doesn't think much of Epshteyn either.

"So, good luck because Boris is a moron," he told MSNBC's Katie Phang last July.

'This is not a do-over': Trump jurors told sexual abuse is undeniable in Carroll case

Former President Donald Trump's liability for sexual abuse in the E. Jean Carroll case cannot be revisited or relitigated, a federal judge instructed a jury today.

"Judge Lewis Kaplan told the nine jurors that they must accept as true that Trump forcibly sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll and defamed her when he denied it," reported ABC News.

"'Ms. Carroll did not make up her claim of forcible sexual abuse. His false statements tended to disparage Ms. Carroll or tended to expose her to hatred or to induce an unsavory opinion of her.' The judge made it clear the jury was only determining damages related to two defamatory statements Trump made in June 2019 when he denied Carroll's rape allegation."

ALSO READ: Why Biden doesn’t need to become Obama to defeat Trump

Ultimately, Kaplan instructed the jury, "This trial is not a do-over of the previous trial which determined those facts."

Trump was last year found liable for $5 million in damages for sexually abusing Carroll and then defaming her by denying it. Trump is currently appealing that judgment.

The trial that started Tuesday involves separate allegations of defamation regarding the same incident of sexual assault. The judge has already found him liable for defamation, meaning the jury is there to consider the amount of damages.

The former president continues to claim that he has no idea who Carroll is — and reiterated this assertion in a rant on social media earlier in the day.

"It is a giant Election Interference Scam, pushed and financed by political operatives," Trump said. "I had no idea who this woman was. PURE FICTION!"

I got way behind on this one. In fact they haven't had court the past couple days because Habba lied to the judge and said she might have COVID. But that hasn't stopped Trump from continuing to defame E Jean Carroll because in his obsessive/compulsive delusional reality he cannot accept Carroll is kicking his ass. Which comes back to a question Carroll's lawyers are essentially asking the jury. How much must it cost to make Trump stop defaming Carroll. And given Trump's behavior that would have to be a pretty big number.

    E. Jean Carroll lawyer expected to slam Trump with new evidence after adjournment: expert

Asked about what to expect when Donald Trump does make an appearance at the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial — which was set to restart Monday before being adjourned for a day because of illness — MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin explained that court attendees can expect Carroll's legal team to submit a barrage of new evidence against the former president.

"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski, prompted Rubin, asking, "Where does this go after today? How much longer do you expect this to play out until they decide what the damages are?"

"I think it really depends on who testifies," Rubin replied. "There's one thing I know for sure is going to happen, and that is E. Jean Carroll's side is going to call Robbie Myers, she's E. Jean's former boss at Elle magazine. She is the editor-in-chief. She's going to testify to the damage to her reputation. After Robbie Meyers gets off the stand, I expect E.Jean Carroll's lawyers will further confront President Trump with some of his prior statements."

"Usually, you have to have a witness in the chair to introduce evidence. One exception is party admissions," she elaborated. "You know, Mika, as well as I do, the former president has given a series of depositions in which he said things that might be relevant to this case, even though the depositions were far afield from whether or not he defamed or sexually abused Carroll."

ALSO READ: Alina Habba is persona non grata at her Pennsylvania law school

"The New York attorney general's case where he was deposed, he says a number of things about his net worth, brand value, how much cash on hand, all of which could be highly relevant to a jury considering punitive damages," she added.

Trump had been expected to take the stand on Monday, but a juror fell ill on the way to court and then the former president's lawyer complained of having a fever. The judge agreed to postpone the hearing for a day, which would have Trump testify on the day of the New Hampshire primary.

Another thing I like about RAW STORY is their photo selection. Just like the one on this story. Many have pointed out Trump makes ape faces when he is triggered. In fact World-renowned primatologist Dame Jane Goodall once analyzed Trump's dominance rituals to a chimpanzee she studied. And I don't know if RAW STORY is aware of that and uses it but they are incredibly good at using photos that capture Trump's ape expressions. Which is actually important because they convey Trump's mental illness. And the message comes across at a glance.

And that is what Trump is actually doing here. In his mentally ill mind and delusional reality he cannot accept the fact E Jean Carrol proved he raped and then defamed her. So he is going through his dominance ritual. Just like the little chimpanzee that found a five gallon tin can and would use it to kick and juggle it as he approached the troop and the noise would scare off the bigger chimpanzees.

But Trump is too mentally ill to grasp this is not a jungle. Its a court of law . Where he cannot grasp the consequences of his own actions which is going to cost him more every time he lashes out at Carroll.

Donald Trump spent two hours overnight posting smears and denials against author E. Jean Carroll ahead of his possible testimony in a defamation trial.

The second defamation trial involving Carroll will resume Thursday following a three-day delay due to a juror's illness, and panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" noted that Trump had made 37 late-night posts about Carroll before he possibly takes the stand.

"Trump and his attorneys claim he wants to testify in his own defense, but it is unclear if he actually will take the stand," said co-host Mika Brzezinbski. "The trial had been postponed since Monday due to a juror's illness. Trump has continued to defame Carroll, posting about her on social media at least 37 times over a two-hour time period late last night. This is not normal."

"We're talking about a guy – look at that guy, that's who the Republican Party wants to have represent them in the fall," added host Joe Scarborough. "We're talking about a guy still attacking this woman that the judge said he raped. It's unbelievable."

"In a defamation case, on the eve of taking the stand to try to defend himself against having to pay a bunch of money, his brilliant legal strategy is to be up all night, posting 37 times, going after E. Jean Carroll," noted co-host Willie Geist.

    "Sounds very obsessive," Brzezinski added.

Who didn't know this? It was obvious to me at least when Trump was on uppers or when they nearly laid him out with heavy duty downers if he had to give some speech where he had to appear presidential. Those would be the times he was slurring his words, might have to use both hands to hold a glass of water, and his bottom jaw would go all screwy like a snake trying to swallow its prey. And staffers testified years ago White House physician Ronny "Candyman" Jackson (now in Congress) handed out drugs like candy to anyone but especially the staffers he wanted to have sex with. All while Trump was calling for the execution of drug dealers.

Trump’s White House Pharmacy Handed Out Drugs Like Candy: Report
    Nikki McCann Ramirez
Wed, January 24, 2024 at 11:53 AM MST·3 min read

White House pharmacists reportedly distributed uppers and downers like candy to Trump administration officials during his time in office, according to a new report from the Department of Defense Inspector General.

The 80-page document, which was released on Jan. 8, found that “all phases of the White House Medical Unit’s pharmacy operations had severe and systemic problems due to the unit’s reliance on ineffective internal controls to ensure compliance with pharmacy safety standards.”

The investigation, which began in 2018 after the Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) received complaints about improper medical practices within the White House Medical Unit, found a slew of compliance issues and improper safety standards. The medical unit’s operations fall under the jurisdiction of the White House Military Office. The report covers a period between 2009 and 2018, with a majority of its findings coalescing around 2017- 2019, during the height of the Trump administration.

While Trump lived under the White House roof, the pharmacy reportedly kept messy, handwritten records, spent lavishly on brand-name medications, and failed to comply with a slew of federal law and Department of Defense regulations governing the handling, distribution, and disposal of prescription medication.

Through in-person inspections and interviews with over 120 officials, the report concluded “that the White House Medical Unit provided a wide range of health care and pharmaceutical services to ineligible White House staff in violation of Federal law and regulation and DoD policy. Additionally, the White House Medical Unit dispensed prescription medications, including controlled substances, to ineligible White House staff.”

One witness told the DoD OIG that pharmacy staff regularly prepared go-bags of prescription medication to White House staff in advance of overseas trips. “One of our requirements was to go ahead and make packets up for the controlled medications. And those would typically be

Ambien or Provigil and typically both,” the witness said. “So we would normally make these packets of Ambien and Provigil, and a lot of times they’d be in like five tablets in a zip‑lock bag. And so traditionally, too, we would hand these out.”

Ambien is a sedative used to treat insomnia, Provigil is a stimulant used to treat narcolepsy, both are considered controlled medication

The witness added that “a lot of times the senior staff would come by or their staff representatives … would come by the residence clinic to pick it up. And it was very much a, hey, I’m here to pick this up for Ms. X. And the expectation was we just go ahead and pass it out.” Passing medication out often undersold the problem, as the report found that over-the-counter drugs were often left out in bins for staff to simply grab at their own leisure.

The report found that between 2017-2019, the White House “spent an estimated

$46,500 for brand name Ambien, which is 174 times more expensive than the generic equivalent,” and “an estimated $98,000 for brand name Provigil, which is 55 times more expensive than the generic equivalent.”

In its conclusion, the DoD OIG recommended that the Director of the Defense Health Agency aid the White House in developing more robust policies for the control and management of prescription medication. Additionally, the report suggests that the White House “establish controls for White House patient eligibility within the Military Health System,” and that the unit be placed under an oversight plan headed by senior health officials in the Department of Defense.

Hopefully, if implemented, the recommendations will prevent the White House from operating as a pill mill for the executive branch in future administrations.

Judge Kaplan Gives Trump Graphic Introduction to Witness Stand: He ‘Inserted His Fingers Into E Jean Carroll’s Vagina’

Before former President Donald Trump took the witness stand in his defamation trial involving E. Jean Carroll, the judge introduced him by telling the jury the ex-president sexually abused her.

Following a brief recess, Judge Lewis Kaplan asked Trump’s attorney Alina Habba if she had any more witnesses to call to the stand. When Habba responded that the former president intended to testify, Kaplan interrupted her to make a statement.

“I have a few things to say. There was a trial last year about the truth or falsity of Ms. Carroll’s claims. Mr. Trump was listed as a witness but did not testify. The jury found for Ms. Carroll. There are no do-overs, it’s called issue preclusion or collateral estoppel,” Kaplan informed the jury, according to journalist Matthew Russell.

Kaplan added, “The jury found that Mr. Trump inserted his fingers into her vagina. And that Ms. Carroll did not make up her claim. And that Mr. Trump’s June 11 and June 22 statements were defamatory. Now Mr. Trump may not make any argument against this.”

Last year, a jury found Trump liable for sexually assaulting Carroll in a department store back in the 1990s. Moreover, Kaplan previously found Trump’s 2019 comments calling Carroll a liar defamatory, so the trial is focused only on what damages Carroll will receive from Trump.

In the prior defamation case where Trump was found liable for sexual abuse, Carroll was awarded $5 million.

The jury has reached a decision in Donald Trump's second defamation trial involving E. Jean Carroll, according to Inner City Press.

Jurors awarded the author and columnist $7.3 million for compensatory damages, $11 million to restore her reputation, and $65 million in punitive damages for defamatory statements Trump made against Carroll while serving as president after she accused him of raping her decades ago in a Manhattan department store dressing room. The total amount is $83.3 million,

CNN called it a "significant victory" for the defamed columnist.

Trump was already found liable for sexual abuse and defamation in a previous trial in which jurors determined that Carroll's allegations were factual and ordered the former president to pay her $5 million in damages for defamatory statements he made after leaving the White House.

The second trial was scheduled after a federal appeals court rejected Trump's claim of presidential immunity for statements he made while in office, and U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan did not allow the defense team to dispute the jury's findings in the first trial.

'Absolutely ridiculous!': Trump reacts after being hit with $83.3M verdict

"I fully disagree with both verdicts, and will be appealing

    https://www.rawstory.com/trump-ridiculous-damages-verdict/

Well by all means there Traitor Trump you just go right ahead that is your right. But just what are you going to appeal? You already appealed you did not rape E Jean Carroll and lost. That cost you $5 million remember. You can't appeal you did not defame her. You continued to defame Carroll every day of the trial. Are you going to appeal the amount? E Jean Carroll's lawyers wanted closer to $200 million. And the legal experts point put $83.3 million is a very smart amount in line with the damages.

You just go right ahead and appeal if you want to though. But don't forget in order to appeal you have to but up the $83.3 million in a bond account first. And the day you lose your appeal is the day that $83.3 million goes straight to Carroll. Just like the last $5 million did.

I didn't know that either until I saw the legal experts yesterday and especially the ex federal prosecutors. Trump also has all his assets under conservatorship due to the fraud trial. So its not like he can try to hide his assets. The judge actually has the authority to make Trump put up some of his assets to cover the judgement right now. And ironically $83.3 million is the value of Trump Tower.

A $3 MILLION bond to appeal?
Trump probably walks around with that much in his pocket.

Yes, Trump will appeal, and yes the left and american hates will bloviate endlessly about how ludicrous appealing the case is, and when the appeals court proceeds to take the judgement apart they'll shout and twirl about unfair judges, and when (hopefully) they yank New York's chain for making this case possible in the first place, it will trigger lefties and american haters into having strokes.

That's the way politics in America is played these days.

We sure read some laughable things around here.

In a Friday post to X, formerly Twitter, attorney Harry Litman, who previously served as a U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania and deputy assistant attorney general at the Department of Justice (DOJ), shared a video discussing the amount of damages, adding that if Trump wants to appeal them he may need to liquidate some of his properties.

"We may have some real liquidity issues now for Donald Trump, so if he wants to appeal this he has to post a bond that is the equal of, let's say he wants
to appeal the punitive damages, he has to cough up $65 million as I understand New York law," he said.
