Sarah Huckabee Sanders Reportedly Refused to Defend Trump’s Family Separations on TV

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to appear on television to defend President Donald Trump‘s zero tolerance immigration policy that resulted in family separations, according to a new report.

Gabriel Sherman has a new piece out in Vanity Fair detailing Trump’s nascent 2020 election campaign, and it reveals the turmoil that plagued his administration after he implemented the immigration policy that led to a crisis of family separations.

Amidst the chaos of shifting explanations for why the policy was in place — as film crews descended on border facilities where children were detained, separated from their parents — Sanders was apparently incapable of defending the policy.

“Sanders refused to appear on-camera to defend the separations, according to two sources close to her,” Sherman reported.

First lady Melania Trump apparently also had serious issues with the president’s move (which he blamed on Democrats.)

“Melania Trump issued a rare statement critiquing her husband’s policy without first clearing it with White House officials,” one source told Sherman. “[She] even asked her press secretary to call a Trump surrogate and thank him after he derided the policy on CNN.”

Washington (CNN)White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday President Donald Trump's tweets are indeed official statements.

"The President is the President of the United States, so they're considered official statements by the President of the United States," Spicer said, when asked during his daily briefing how they should be characterized. Spicer did not indicate whether that included both of the President's Twitter handles: @realDonaldTrump and @POTUS.

Spicer, who fields a lot of questions about the meaning of the President's tweets, was asked if Trump undermines his own agenda-setting when he tweets. On Monday, for example, rather than focusing on his administration's planned roll out of a week focused on infrastructure, Trump knocked his Justice Department's handing of his travel ban in the wake of a terrorist attack in London.
"The President is the most effective messenger on his agenda," Spicer said. He then touted Trump's 110 million followers across social media platforms.

"And the same people critiquing his use of it now critiqued it during the election and it turned out pretty well for him," Spicer said.

After his aides rolled out a week on infrastructure rebuilding, the President has undercut their messages and briefings, taking to social media to admonish the "MSM" (mainstream media) and call forcefully for a travel ban from certain countries.

In a follow-up question, another reporter asked about the ACLU's tweet that they will use the President's tweets in building a case in the Supreme Court: "Yes, we may incorporate @realDonaldTrump's tweets about the ban into our Supreme Court argument."

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday insisted that President Donald Trump did not obstruct justice when he said that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should end the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

At a White House briefing, Sanders was asked about Trump’s Wednesday tweet about shutting down the probe into Russia’s interference and possible collusion within the Trump campaign.

“It’s not an order, it’s the president’s opinion,” Sanders insisted to White House reporters. “The president is not obstructing. He’s fighting back. The president is stating his opinion. He’s stating it clearly. And he certainly is expressing the frustration that he has with the level of corruption that we’ve seen from people like Jim Comey, Peter Strzok. Most of America is angry as well and there’s no real reason he shouldn’t be able to voice that opinion.”

Sanders went on to say that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation should be completed “sooner rather than later.”

“It’s gone on for an extensive amount of time,” she opined. “They’ve still come up with nothing in regards to the president. We’d like to see it come to a close.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders has a meltdown over Jim Acosta – and randomly lashes out at comedian who mocked her

Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday clashed with Jim Acosta, after the CNN reporter asked about President Donald Trump’s attacks on the media.

One reporter asked Sanders if she agrees with the president’s daughter that the press is not the enemy of the people. Sanders refused to say that the president doesn’t agree with his daughter and refused to defend the press. Instead, Sanders spoke about her own experience of being politely asked to leave from a Virginia restaurant.

“Certainly the president himself has stated he doesn’t like the idea of family separation,” Sanders said. “I don’t think anybody does. We also don’t like the idea of open borders. We don’t like the idea of allowing people into our country if we don’t know who they are, where they’re going, and why they’re coming.”

She touted the president’s call to secure the border, his success with the economy and that “ISIS is on the run.” She said the media ignores such things and instead demands answers to scandals instead.

“That’s real news and something that people in the state of Florida and across this country appreciate and that was ignored,” she continued. “Not only that before a journalist on CNN claimed that the president hadn’t taken questions in over a week despite the fact that same journalist in a live shot from the two and two press conference that the president had with the prime minister of Italy with minutes after making that accusation. This is understandable for the president to be frustrated.”

Tuesday, Acosta reporter was surrounded and verbally attacked by Trump supporters. The president then attacked the media from the podium at the rally.

That’s when he stepped in to follow up on the question.

“She asked you about Ivanka Trump’s statement that the press is not the enemy of the people,” he began. “She asked you whether or not the press is the enemy of the people. You read off a laundry list of your concerns about the press and then things that you feel were misreported built you did not say that the press is not the enemy of the people. I think it would be a good thing if you were to state right here at this briefing that the press, the people who are gathered in this room right now, doing their jobs every day, asking questions of officials like the ones you brought forward earlier are not the enemy of the people. I think we deserve that.”

Sanders said that the president has made it clear what his position is.

“I also think it’s ironic — I’m trying to answer your question. I politely waited and I called on you even after you interrupted me when I called on your colleague,” she chided the CNN reporter.

“It’s ironic, Jim, that not only you and the media attack the president for his rhetoric when they frequently lowered the level of conversation in this country,” she continued as Acosta asked for a follow-up question. “Repeatedly, repeatedly the media restarts personal attacks without any content other to incite anger. The media has attacked me repeatedly, said I should be harassed as a life sentence. ICE officials are not welcomed in their place of worship. When I was hosted by the correspondents’ association you brought up a comedian to attack me.”

She lamented that she was the first press secretary in history to have received secret service protection, but didn’t acknowledge the reporters who have also had to have security after the president attacked them.

“The media continues to ratchet up the verbal assault against the president and everyone in this administration and certainly we have a role to play but the media has to role to play for the discourse in this country as well,” she said.

Acosta said that he was very sorry that the horrible things happened to her. He was sorry she was attacked by a comedian.

“You did not say in the course of those remarks that you just made that the press is not the enemy of the people,” he said. “Are we to take it from what you just said, we all get put through the wringer, we all get put through the meat grinder in this town and you’re not an exception and I’m sorry that happened to you. I wish that did not happen.”

He noted that for the sake of democracy, the United States and the people in that room, surely they could all agree that the press is not the enemy of the people.

You think Acosta is something you should have seen the great Sam Sam Donaldson. Reagan and his team had to literally use a helicopter to drown out the questions Donaldson shouted at Reagan. “You know, fake news is dangerous,” White House strategic communications adviser Mercedes Schlapp replied. “We know for a fact that many of these so-called news reporters, okay, that go out there have a complete disdain for President Trump.”

“It is no wonder we’ve seen that 90% of the media coverage for President Trump has been negative. What American people want to see is fair, objective coverage. Quite frankly you’ve had reporters who cried the day that President Trump won and they show their bias.”

“I think it’s very troubling,” Schlapp continued. “For that being said the president has to defend himself. The president and those of us in the administration who have been blamed and have been called names by journalists. We really want to be able to be able to talk about the president’s winning message.”

“It is very hard when you have reporters who prefer to see themselves on camera all the time and many of the liberal media who have complete disdain for this president and refuse to acknowledge any of the positive work he is doing.”

Every time I see Sarah Sanders in front of the press corps distorting facts to please her boss, I wonder what kind of hellhole the Huckabee must have been for her when growing up, to prepare her so well for this job. Everyday she has to face reporters and very carefully avoid telling the truth when asked direct questions, when she can't avoid the question. She knows anything she says today could be proven to be patently false tomorrow and it's all on tape. Not many people could handle a total loss of credibility, but she plows on, day after day. She's like a woman who is cheating on her husband, when he knows all about it, her coworkers know about it, and her family knows about it. In spite of that, she still puts on all her make up and says she's going to the health club.

Actually I happen to agree with Fox News on this but obviously for different reasons. I have been advocating for about a year for the White House Press Corp to either walk in protest or at the very least stop showing up for them. Because it is a very destructive and dangerous thing to sit there day in and day out and help Sanders spread her lies and false propaganda. It is a true disservice to the nation.

Fox News has responded to the controversy surrounding Sarah Huckabee Sanders confrontation with Jim Acosta at Thursday’s briefing.

Acosta and Sanders tangled about President Trump’s repeated claims that the media is “the enemy of the people.”

Sarah Huckabee Sanders [was] at the brink of tears yesterday after another contentious briefing with reporters,” said host Harris Faulkner. “The tense relationship between the president and the media [is] sparking a growing debate about who is to blame.”

Faulkner suggested the solution might be “no more cameras and no more televised press briefings.” She was echoing fellow senior Fox News employee Chris Stirewalt, who has also argued for reporters not going to Trump rallies.

Not everyone on the panel fully supported it.

Guy Benson, a Fox radio host, said he understood where those calling for cancelation “are coming from” but thought it was too far.

“Sometimes the White House press briefings seem like pure theater,” he said, “where the White House has its agenda, certain reporters have their agenda, and we don’t get much quality information out of it.”

Faulkner returned to blaming Acosta and others like him who are aggressive with Sanders.

“The back-and-fourth really was the opposite of the great journalistic appetite that we could have fed the day before with all the leaders in the intelligence committee,” she said.

And here is the reason the press should just walk out and not even cover the briefings anymore. The press does not need Sanders or her lying dodging bullshit briefings. They have tons of sources and resources to report what Trump and the White House are doing. In fact they use them everyday to prove Sanders was lying during the briefings. So they don't even need to cover them.

While on the other hand Trump and the White House desperately need the press. Its the only way they can get their propaganda out. And it might take a couple weeks or a month or so but if the press just simply stopped covering the briefings and Trump's rallies for that matter they would find out how much.

And I know it works because I have done it myself.

The White House press secretary said Tuesday she's never heard him say the word, though she acknowledged that she had never asked him the question directly.

WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday that she could not "guarantee" that there are no recordings of President Donald Trump using the N-word.

"I’ve never heard him use that term or anything similar," Sanders said in response to a series of questions from NBC's Kristen Welker about whether he's ever used the racial slur. Asked if she could promise that Americans would never hear him say it on a recording, she declined. "I can’t guarantee anything, but I can tell you the president addressed this question directly," she said, though she acknowledged that she had never asked him the question herself.

The back-and-forth at Tuesday's White House briefing followed the publication of a book from former Trump aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, who says she was fired by chief of staff John Kelly because she was investigating rumors that Trump had used the word during tapings of "The Apprentice," his long-running NBC reality show. On Sunday, Manigualt Newman told NBC's Chuck Todd that she has since heard a recording of Trump saying it.

On Monday, the president took to Twitter to deny the existence of such a tape.

Trump and his aides have continued to wage a rhetorical war on Manigualt Newman and her book, "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House."

On Tuesday morning, the president called Manigault Newman a "dog" on Twitter, which sparked another round of accusations that he employs racist language.

Sanders said Trump is an "equal opportunity" denigrator who "fights fire with fire."

"This has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with the president calling out someone’s lack of integrity," she said. "The president has said similar things about a number of individuals, certainly, that are not African-American or any other minority."

Sanders said that she and other White House aides would quit their jobs "if at any point we felt that the president was who some of his critics claim him to be" and that he wouldn't have been able to form close relationships with other luminaries in the business and political worlds, including "Bill and Hillary Clinton," if he was.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Admits Mistake On Obama's Black Employment Numbers

“When President Obama left after eight years in office — eight years in office — he had only created 195,000 jobs for African-Americans,” Sanders told reporters during the press briefing. “President Trump in his first year and a half has already tripled what President Obama did in eight years.”

Sanders issued a rare apology for the inaccurate statistic late Tuesday, but quickly followed it up with a non-apology: “I’m sorry for the mistake, but no apologies for the 700,000 jobs for African Americans created under President Trump.”

The White House Council of Economic Advisers took responsibility for the flub and apologized to Sanders for an “earlier miscommunication.”

Omarosa Manigault Newman has suggested Sanders made the claim while responding to questions about whether Americans could be guaranteed that they would never hear a recording of Trump saying the N-word, as former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman has suggested he has.

“This president, since he took office, in the year and a half that he’s been here, has created 700,000 new jobs for African-Americans,” Huckabee Sanders said. “That’s 700,000 African-Americans that are working now that weren’t working when this president took place.”

After the press briefing, the Council of Economic Advisers tweeted data comparing increases and decreases in minority employment from the 20 months following Obama’s election and the 20 months following Trump’s election.

The selected dates take into account any employment changes that occurred in the two months before Obama’s and Trump’s inauguration dates.

Actually Omarosa Manigault-Newman was one of the highest paid White House employees earning as much as John Kelly. So by your analysis she must have prepared herself even better than Sanders and must be credible as well.

And even after she was fired from the White House the Trump Campaign tried to hire for the same amount of money.
