The difference is what it reveals about Trump for not acknowledging that his crowd was smaller than Obama's. The President of the United States needs to be able to accept truth, even when it is unflattering.

The fact that Trump's crowd was smaller than Obama's means little. Washington, DC is a mainly black, mainly Democrat city. It is understandable that more Washingtonians would show up for the inauguration of a black Democrat president. If Trump had acknowledged that he would have saved himself a lot of embarrassment, if he is capable of feeling embarrassment.

And no, there is no way you can prove that half of America supports Trump, but I'm sure if you shout it louder you might convince people that Trump won despite his having won!
