it is considered wrong if i say shit in front of gods people, but even though throwing their garbage in my face is offensive, its ok because they are christian. The minute somebody provides solid proof of god i will change my thinking. but the hell my life has been since birth, it will be impossible to prove to me that god is real

I have recently stopped calling myself an atheist. It is a pointless term. It is like calling yourself an non santa believer, or a non fairy believer. It should be a given.

Calling myself an atheist suggests that i'm in a position that goes against something that is real.
Atheism- 1.The doctrine or belief that there is no God.
2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings.
3. rejecting a belief in god/gods because of a lack of evidence to support such god or gods.

I don't like these definitions or the many similar definitions that crop up. They suggest there is a god but we do not believe in it. Even the better description suggests there is a god but we have not yet found any evidence to support such claims. These are not a viewpoints I'm fond of.

If people ask me my religion now, I usually refere to myself as a Secular Humanist. As this has a set of principles I follow. It better describes what I am. Rather than what I am not. As the list of what I am not is pretty endless.

 

I don't think he was claiming that. But the number of times a Christian says things like "he is not a real christian, he does not represent us" is literally all the time.

If all the Christians who have called other Christians “not really a Christian” were to vanish, there’d be no Christians left

Have you seen a psychologist lately? Religion shouldn't "piss you off". You may not believe in God and it may be annoying, but, you do live in a country where the majority is religious. So, either get over it or see a psychologist before you flip out.

 

Yeah, don't get angry, get productive. Remain open of your lack of belief and encourage other non believers to be open too. Too many people are 'in the closet' and are afraid to come out.

Remember this is the only life we got, there isn't enough time to spend most of it angry.

As a strong believer in the Christian faith I understand your views and questions, and they are legitimate to ask IMO, I ask them as well. I think asking them shows compassion for others suffering and would invoke the questions of why this stuff is allowed to happen is only natural.
No one has that answer, and anyone that says they do is a fool.

There's many so called Christians that are anything but one, I have a family full of them myself, but I've known a few people that truly were practicing and they were great people and most here would have liked them if they met them.

I consider myself a non practicing Christian because to actually live the word of the Bible is very difficult and I refuse to be one more hypocrite in the faith so I refer as a non practitioner although alot of my deeds done for others are inline with Bible teachings. I do these acts as others do here because that's who we are as people mainly, and I'd do them regardless.

Islam is the religion we all need to be watching and its believers, unlike Christianity which offers you your own choices to make, Islam under Sharia forces all to convert or die in the caliphate their trying so hard to institute right now in the mid east.

There's no easy answers to your questions, I as a believer also ask them as I said. Someday we'll know the answers hopefully and eventually all this will come to an end and be no more, that's how it's written.

 

I'm glad you use this forum as a place to bitch on and on endlessly about what you like and dislike. It's everything, from your government, to religion. If you don't like it, there's no need to share.

 

I have a possible answer. Bad things happen to good people because the forces of nature dictate the world in which we live. Not some personal god testing your faith.

A personal god that is so insecure and that jealous, he created us just so he had some followers to worship him, and the cruel actions he commits are simply there to test our commitment to believe in him and love him, in spite of whatever devastation he decides to inflict.

I refuse to be a slave, let alone a slave that is forced to both love and fear his master. No matter what atrocity he desides to commit next.

Why is it so important to have faith. If he loves us so much, why, instead of brutally torturing and butchering people, does he not show up and share the love.

Agree with you here, the censorship, blocking of freedom of speech, freedom of ideas, and the blocking of open discussion and critisms by the muslim faith, is potentially the biggest threat the world faces today.
