One factor that's over looked in all of this is the economics of slavery. Slavery was viewed as cheap labor and if there's one thing ruling elites like as much as money, it's cheap labor. American slave labor was one of the most inefficient forms of the practice, as compared to ancient Rome or Greece, but you get what you pay for. If the slaves had been freed by a magic wand, there would have been a lot of celebrating, but the next day, everyone goes back to the fields. After all, they still had to eat and there was no other opportunity.

So, who loses out when slavery is abolished? The freed slaves have no accumulated wealth or property, so they remain laborers, working for subsistence wages. The losers are the slave traders. The east coast states had been farming the land for more than a century and the soil was depleted. Crop production had gradually declined to the point that it was no longer profitable, even with slave labor. The difference was made up by selling surplus slaves to western states. South Carolina was the leader in slave production, but all eastern states sold slaves to the west.

The War Between the States was not fought to keep slavery, it was fought to keep the power to sell slaves.

Ruling elites can never be counted on to do the right thing and as former slaves began to accumulate wealth and property, celebrations of dead Confederate heroes with cheap bronze statues was part of a strategy to remind the former slaves and their free born children of who really held the power. "Our heritage" is a modern construct aimed at maintaining the intimidation of black people. Superiority is difficult to hold on to if your inferiors have more money than you do. It was important to oppress black people by all means available. This included restrictions on economic rights and most importantly, voter rights.

The ruling elites have pretty much lost the battle of economic rights, but they are desperately trying to hold the line on voting rights. Their power ultimately comes from control of government, because government has the power to determine what is legal and what is not. As horrific as we consider slavery today, it was never illegal, until it wasn't.

There was a societal shift in the 20th century and the racism that was the foundation of slavery became seen as a bad thing. Racists were now considered ignorant at the best, and evil at the worst. This is a problem for racists because they are a minority and thus have to forge coalitions with those who are not now and never were part of the ruling elite. They can't openly preach their racist philosophy, so they have to settle for reminding people of the times when they could.

I want to tell you again how much I appreciate you posting and even re-posting these examples of what the states that formed the Confederacy.said at the time. Because that defeats all the other excuses of those wanting to re-write history.

The dilemma faced by our revisionist racist is pretty simple. They have to present political position that's palatable on the surface to appeal to middle ground voters. The problem comes when their true agenda is exposed because most decent people find it repugnant. It's quickly discovered that racist appeals gain one vote for and two against.

Shooter note; For whatever reason, when Shooter hit respond to Stumbler's post, not all of the quotes and inserts came across, and some are not readable if not highlighted. Readers will want to go back to Stumbler's original post to compare.

As usual you've posted a page of rambling accusations and declarations that are not accurate, not persuasive and not logical. Rambling bullshit in other words. Bloviation. Word salad.
    No matter. Harness up Stumbler, Shooter is tired of this nonsense. You said;

“No absolutely not. The "crux of your (my)claim" is that after Trump illegally assassinated Iranian GenQasem Soleimani to avoid all out war between the US and Iran the Iranian regime had to do something to save face with some kind of retaliation.”

Shooter recalls you declaring Trump’s killing of Soleimani to be an act of war, and illegal and indefensible when this occurred. Well, American hater, that fuck had killed hundreds of Americans and by all accounts was planning imminent attacks on our embassies. Remember when our embassies were attacked during the Clinton administration, and what our milquetoast response led to? Trump did American a huge favor killing this enemy of the west. Trump was meeting his sworn obligation to protect America and Americans.
Your overly emotional and obsessive rants about it being ILLEGAL expose your loyalty.

Your loyalty isn’t to America. It might be to despicable politics, or even to our enemies, but it damn sure isn’t to America.

“So to avoid all our war Trump agreed to let them strike one of our military bases in Iraq as long as no US troops were injured or killed. Which is why everyone on the base was warned in advance the attack was coming so they could get into their bunkers and Iran did not actually hit the base itself.

Trump agreed to let Iran bomb our bases to avoid war? After, you know, he ILLEGALLY murdered their top general? He folds and lets them “save face” by attacking our bases? And Iran went for that, in your version, did they?
Imagine if, say, Russia killed General Mark Milley. So Biden says, "Lets settle this, we'll lob some missiles at a couple of your bases, and call it a day, Okay?" And Russia says, sure, we'll let you save face. Lob away, just let us know when so we can duck."

Reality check, Dorothy. Our troops in the region had been on high alert since the killing of Soleimani because it doesn’t take a military genius to figure out retaliation is almost certain to be the reaction from the Iranian leadership. if you want to call that “warned our troops in advance” have at it. Just more of your spew to skewer all things Trump no matter what it takes.

But sine (sic) there were troops injured with Traumatic Brain Injury, some of them life threatening, And you backed Trump's lies, defended them, made excuses for them and lied for Trump yourself.

Again; What Shooter responded to and pointed out were your propaganda attacks and just plain outrageous lies on the situation; claiming Trump called our troops “Pussies” and claiming he lied about their injuries. Demonizing anyone not in lockstep with your world view is classic despicable/stumbler tactics. Your endless wailing that Shooter doesn’t support our troops, and that Trump doesn’t support our troops is just projection on your part. Tell us again how evil Trump was in killing Soleimani. Tell us again how we cut a deal with Iran to avoid a war.

How loudly would you have spewed if Trump had pulled a Clinton and waited for our embassies to be attacked?? Doesn’t take any imagination to hear you twirling and frothing about Trump killing our embassy staff cause he’s the cock sucking puppet of the Ayatollah, eh?
Trump did what he had to do; kill an enemy of America determined to kill Americans. You took the opportunity to (again) spew.

You always try to pull off pommy (sic) lying scams like this making a statement and then posting a video knowing most people won't bother to watch it and see for themselves it is nothing that backs up your statement about it.”

When Shooter posts a video or a source he wants readers to click on them, because they contain information about the topic at hand. Your usual claim that Shooter hopes people won’t click on the links is stupid. It doesn’t even make minimal sense, does it? What’s the point of posting a link but hoping no one will click on it? Just more bloviation and deflection on your part. Watch the damn video. Or not. But don’t pull your “Shooter posted this because he doesn’t want anyone to watch it cause it doesn’t say what he wants it to” tiresome nonsense. It just makes your stupid show when you do that. And you don't need to be highlighting stupid more than you already are.

And here again you make an utterly false statement. I do not "hate" anyone or anything. That is someting (sic) I had to recognize and deal with to psychologically heal myself. Because "hate" is nothing more than a secondary reaction to fear. And fear left unconfronted and unresloved (sic) and taking the easy path to hate will fuck you up. It only results in an irrational cesspool of fear hate and anger that will dissolve from the inside out trapped in your own miserable existence.

You can say you don’t hate, but here’s a bulletin for you; your hate glares like a beacon in the dark. Ask your fellow forum members. It might be delusion and not hate, Shooter can give benefit of the doubt, but one thing for sure, whatever it is has completely destroyed any possibility of objectivity on your part where politics is concerned.

Your problem, not Shooters. Yours to deal with. Shooter points it out because your hate plays a huge role in what you post and it’s inaccuracy, doesn’t it? We know with certainty the lies you’ll post and repost where conservatives are concerned. In case this slipped by you, what Shooter is saying is your credibility on political matters does not exist. We know you'll be lying when you post political spew.

Now; your hilarious and devious explanation of the difference between “reporting” and “editorializing”. Your lame attempt to justify your blatant lie that Trump called our troops “pussies” by now calling it an “editorial” only underscores your inability to be honest or ethical when it comes to politics.

“The entire purpose of an editoal (sic) is choosing words that create impact on the reader. And I chose Trump more or less calling our wounded troops "pussies" to create that kind of impact.”

Shooter will accept your confession that you lied (again) about what Trump said. The point of this entire pointless exercise was for you to show how Shooter lied, but now you've gone and admitted you were the liar and Shooter was right all along. Shooter does appreciate your (finally) being honest. Better late than never, eh?
But know that Shooter assumes, since you have lied about what Trump said several times in the past, that you will continue to do so in the future.

Your right is of course to post just about whatever you feel like around here. It is, after all, in your world, a “cocksucking (sic) porn forum” and you can push just about anything you want. Doesn’t make it credible or accurate or “factual”. As a newspaper editor you should know that your credibility rests on your ability to be accurate and mostly objective with your “reporting”. You know. To be believable. When you fail at that, and you have, your “editorializing” is reduced to nothing more than propaganda. The spew of a hateful old man who sold his credibility decades ago in the name of liberal dogma.

Was it worth it? Did you get your 30 pieces of silver?

But this is final statement of yours; “I am the one presenting the facts while all you are doing is lying about our wounded service members.” Is indeed a lie.

You cannot “editorialize” with lies and gross exaggeration and then claim you are presenting only the facts, can you? Even a lying, despicable, unethical American hating newspaper editor can see that, right? Are you really going to try and tell us how you can editorialize (read propagandize) and “report the facts” all in one post?

Just one thing; going forward you might tell us when you’re propagandizing editorializing and when you’re reporting “facts”. It could avoid this kind of meaningless back and forth and you being embarrassed.

Shooter’s point that you can absolutely be counted on to welch on any “bet” is proven. Again.

No not at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet for a few days. Even though I knew you would get favored treatment and it would only be for tree days when anyone else who got suspended more than once in the same month would have gotten a much longer suspension or get banned for it.

And how laughable you can say your post was simple when that is not what the eye sees and its still a mess. And a deliberate one. First you didn't address what I actually said and only used little snippets to create a false impression and argue things that were never said.

But that's ok. I cleaned it up and got back to the actual point.

Because its your diversion that failed utterly and laughably.

That is what I have been swathing as well. Its like they are still list3ening to Steve Bannon.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...ant-democrats-to-talk-about-racism-every-day/

First Bannon cannot condemn White nationalists and White supremacists when he actually preaches and practices both. But much more to the point why do they continue to do that when Bannon was proven wrong in 2018, 2020, and 2022. Its not like the Democrats just pick out racism to run on. Democrats and the majority of Americans actively oppose racism and the treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans just keep coming up with more and more outrageous ways to practice their racism and that is going to get talked about They have no real agenda economic or otherwise to run on of their own and just scream MAGA like it was in the 1950's. And the vast majority of America don't went to go back to those days. So its a losing ticket. But instead of just admitting that they double and triple down on racism and bigotry.

Let's read what the Vice President of the confederacy said. And let's see how the alt right racists here spin this.

"Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth."

*Two editor's notes. In at lest one of my statements for some reason I could not change the italics so I bolded that statement.

And two, there is a ton of spelling errors in many of my statements because my spell check quit working and I was in a hurry and didn't want to risk losing what I already had to reset it. But now you have some idea how much Idepend on ti.*

This does not refute anything. It is just your usual form of impotent personal attacks.

And again your tricks are just obvious. Instead of arguing what I actually said just pick out a snippet and then make something up that I never said and argue that because its something you can deal with instead of reality.

And of course your meaningless and impotent personal attacks do not change the reality and facts.

Executive Order 11905, executive order issued February 19, 1976, by U.S. President Gerald Ford, which prohibited any member of the U.S. government from engaging or conspiring to engage in any political assassination anywhere in the world.

Qasem Soleimani: US strike on Iran general was unlawful, UN expert says
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-53345885

So all you are proving here again is that you do not believe in the rule of law and will always back and support Trump no matter what he does.

This is another obviously false statement. My loyalty is to the United States of America, the Constitution, and rule of law. Your loyalty is only to just one man: Trump. And you will always back Trump's lies, make up excuses for his lies, and lie yourself . Even when Trump is lying about wounded US service members which remains the main point which you deliberately ignore while distracting and defecting with tangents.

And that is just about as low as you can get. Although I admit you might surprise me with an new low at any time.

And here again the proof it was a brokered deal that Trump agreed to is just obvious. How did our troops on that base know hours in advance if it wasn't. Its not like our troops spend 24/7 hiding in their bunkers. And if fact when they come endure attack they fight back. Not just hide in their in their bunkers.

US troops in Iraq got warning hours before Iranian attack
    https://apnews.com/article/islamic-...al-news-iraq-ae79cb0f18f7adf15a2a57e88f469dd7

You have always fallen back on this meaningless tangent as a way to try and distract and deflect from the fact that my choice of the word "pussies" has nothing to do with the main point. Trump stood before the nation and lied thorough his teeth none of our troops were injured so he had an excuse to stand down and not retaliate against Iran for the attack. Trump deliberately and knowingly told that lie and then continued to lie and change his story many times afterwards. And you backed those lies, made excuses for those lies, and lied yourself to protect, defend and cover up for Trump even though he was lying about more than 100 US troops that suffered traumatic brain injuries. Calling them not serious and more like headaches.

And how you and Trump can disrespect and betray our services members and their sacrifices more than that is bey9ond me.

Again just going on another totally unrelated tangent trying to distract and deflect arguing things I never said just to try and bury the main point. Trump repeatedly lied about our wounded soldiers and then downplayed the seriousness of those TBI's like they are just pussies that got a little headache or something.

And you backed those lies, made excuse for those lies, and even lied yourself about them. How can you disrespect and betray the sacrifices of our service members worse than that?

Again just a totally false statement. What you actually said was...

Which was nothing more than a phony dishonest fraud on your part because the video was nothing more than Trump standing their lying to the nation that none of our service members were wound. It was nothing Al Jazeera reported like you falsely claimed. The only one saying none of our troops were wounded is Trump.

Which is a perfect example of why I say you not only backed Trump's lies and made up excuses for his lies you also lied yourself because her you are doing just that.

I think its obvious to other forum members what you are saying is the opposite of the truth. It is your hate that fuels your obsessive/compulsive behavior of constantly stalking other members posts most often to name call and make personal attacks just like you are doing here. But it is something you do all day every day. Because you are trapped in your own miserable existence which is dominated by fear, hate, and anger.

And I am surely capable of anger from time to time like when you and Trump disrespect and betray our servile members by trying to deny and lie about them being wounded with TBS, But I do not allow myself to get emotionally invested in hate because its irrational. and no way to live life.

    S

And again your own arrogant ignorance just jumps off the page pretending you know more about the rules of reporting and editorial writing than I do when I was publisher editor and reporter of my own general circulation newspaper for more than 10 years. And actually won state wide awards for my reporting and weekly column.

But let me point out the obvious. I said the purpose of an editorial is to choose words that create impact on the reader. Which is obviously the case of my selection of pussies because you have been screaming your head off about that for years. And always try to use that as a tangent to distract and deflect from the fact Trump lied about our wounded service members and you backed Trump's lies, made up excuses for Trump's lies and lie yourself. That is impact.

But lying about our service members who were wounded in action? How can you betray their sacrifices more than that? And pretend you care about them.

The fact I am the one actually presenting facts is easily proven by the fact I am the one providing the evidence and links to back up what I am saying. While all you are doing is talking in nonsense circles and personally attacking and just claiming things are so simply because you say so.

And even people not reading this can at least see that at a glance.

Again your arrogant ignorance pretending you know more about editorial writing than I do. And you are the one obviously lying. What I did was give my assessment that was in essence calling our troops pussies whose TBI'as were not serous and they just had headaches and things like that when more than 100 were injured and some of them had to be flown to other countries with life threatening wounds.

I stood by that assessment then and stand by it today.

Just another tangent to distract and deflect from the fact Trump lied about our wounded troops and you backed those lies, made up excuses fro Trump's lies, and lied yourself about our troops wounded in action.

And no need to. The difference between reporting and editorials is obvious. In fact these days I let others do my reporting by posting their articles. I mostly just editorialize. And so do you but you do in fact and in deed lie in yours which I constantly point out and bust you on. And you have never been able to do the same to me.

Another utterly false statement. Absolutely not true.

But there is something much more important. We are talking about more than 100 of our troops that were wounded in action. Some of them life threatening TBI's that had to be treated in other countries. Others serious enough it ended their military careers. And here you are disrespecting and betraying their sacrifices and in at least a way mocking them with meaningless memes.

Which goes directly back to the original point. You love to use our troops and veterans for cheap sentimental political props when it suits your purposes But you are a fake patriot that really could not give a shit about them and their sacrifices for us and our country.

Says the guy that lied about our service members being wounded in action who has no loyalty and allegiance to the United States of America, our Constitution veterans and members of the armed services who protect and defend us and our country. And instead only has loyalty and allegiance to Trump and will even defend him, make excuses for him and lie for him when he lies about our troops being wounded in action.

That is the lowest of lows even most fake patriots will not sink to.

Neither. Simply responding to your name calling, personal attacks, distractions, deflections, misinformation, and phony attempts at trying to deny you and Trump cannot sink lower than lying about our troops being wounded in action winch you backing Trump's lies, making up excises for Trump's lies, and lying yourself .

Proving my original point that you can try to pretend you care about our veterans and troops but you are just being a fake patriot proving you don;t. No one who does actually care about them would disrespect and betray their sacrifices for this country by lying about them being wounded in action.

Perceptive Southerners knew that the Confederacy was a rich man's cause and a poor man's fight. Men who owned twenty or more slaves were draft exempt.

Even before the Civil War, family farms in the South could not compete economically with plantations. Most trades and professions paid less than they did in the North.

It's not complicated. You made a post about the story. Did you believe the story was true when you made the post?

Maybe it is complicated, after all. If you didn't believe it to be true, you perpetuated a lie and were aware of what you were doing. If you did believe it to be true, it makes you look very gullible, at the least.

Well, as shooter recalls his comment was about the story indicating that only deplorables were upset at the story. Despicables seemed to approve of the idea.

But say, shooter bets you could give stumbler $5 and he'd go find the posts for you.

Since you're determined to be upset about ...... something.

You and I have different understanding of "upset" and I've seen you upset.
The question remains, did you believe the story to be true when you made the post.

And treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans want to pretend they are not racist and their party is not the party of racism and bigotry.

This is also a great example of what I have said earlier on this thread. Treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans are so racist they can't even see how racist they are.

It is also worth noting how stupid, ignorant, and arrogant (three different things) Tuberville i. He does not have a clue what he is talking about, constantly contradict himself but is absolutely convinced he is right simply because he says so.

Tommy Tuberville Tells Kaitlan Collins It’s Just ‘Some People’s Opinion’ That White Nationalists Are Racist (Video)

On the first episode of her new CNN primetime show “The Source,” Kaitlan Collins tried really hard to give Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville a chance to walk back statements he made recently that sure sounded like he was defending the racist ideology known as white nationalism.

Instead, while he repeatedly said he rejects racism, he also repeatedly (and incorrectly) insisted that white nationalism is not racist, that saying otherwise is merely “some people’s opinion,” and that “most white people” in the military actually are white nationalists. Ok then!

The context here is that in May, the hard right Republican appeared on a radio show where, among other things, he elaborated on his opposition to efforts by Democrats to keep extremists out of the military, and refused to condemn white nationalists.

The term refers to the political ideology that promotes the political enshrinement of segregation and white supremacy, originally coined to describe South Africa’s apartheid government. But after his comments were criticized, Tuberville claimed that he merely meant that in his view, the term was used to smear people with conservative beliefs. He also disavowed racism in tepid terms, and continued to defend white nationalists, who he insisted are just patriots.

On “The Source,” Collins brought this up in relation to the other reason Tuberville is in the news these days — he’s been using the U.S. Senate’s maddening procedural roadblocks to single-handedly block all military promotions in an attempt to force the military to adopt strict anti-abortion polices.

“Just to be clear, you agree that white nationalists should not be serving in the US military. Is that what you’re saying?” Collins asked him when the topic was broached.

“If people think that a white nationalist is a racist. I agree with that, I agree they shouldn’t,” Tuberville replied.

“A White nationalist is someone who believes that the white race is superior to other races,” Collins said.

“Well, that’s some people’s opinion,: Tuberville insisted.

    Asked Collins: “What’s your opinion?”

“My opinions of a white nationalist, if somebody wants to call them white nationalist, is to me ‘an American,” Tuberville said. “Now, if that white nationalist is a racist, I’m totally against anything they want to do, because I am 110% against racism. But I want somebody that’s in our military, that’s strong belief in this country, that’s an American, that will fight alongside anybody, whether with a man or woman, black or white, red. It doesn’t make any difference. And so I’m totally against identity politics. I think it’s ruining this country. And I think that Democrats ought to be ashamed for how they’re doing this, because it’s divided this country and it’s making this country weaker every day.

“That’s not identity politics,” Collins replied. “You said a So White Nationalist in American politics and white nationalist is an American-“

“It is an American,” Tuberville interjected.

“But a white nationalist is someone who, who believes horrific things. Do you really think that’s someone who should be serving in the military?” Collins countered.

“Well, that’s just the name that it’s been given,” Tuberville said.

“It’s not, there’s a real a definition, there’s real concerns about extremism,” Collins said.

“So if you’re gonna do away with most white people in this country out of the military, we got a huge problems,” Tuberville said.

“It’s not white people, it’s white nationalists,” Collins responded.

“That have a few probably different beliefs, that have different beliefs,” Tuberville said. “Now, if racism is one of those beliefs, I’m totally against. I’m totally against racism.”

“But a white nationalist is racist, senator,” Collins said.

“Well, that’s your opinion. That’s your opinion. But if it’s racism, if it’s racism, I’m totally against any type of racism, any type of racism. I don’t care what it is,” Tuberville added.

'A permanent white majority': Republicans engaged in hair-raising summer schemes — and Maddow has the receipts

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow listed off some of the bizarre things happening in the Republican Party around the country that has popped up in the news over the past week or so.

Last week, at a GOP convention in Michigan, a man wiggled the doorknob of one of the meeting rooms when another guy came out swinging and kicking him "in the balls."

"The scuffle intensified and long story short, the Clare County Republican chairman provided this to the Detroit News from an emergency room in Clare, Michigan, in an emergency room, 'he was being treated for what appears to be a broken rib,'" read Maddow.

The problem is that it wasn't the first time. Something similar happened in April.

"To say the least, this is not how anything in politics is supposed to go," she explained. "But this is
how it's going in Michigan Republican politics. Two consecutive statewide Michigan Republican Party meetings, both at the same hotel in Clare, Michigan, both which resulted in physical fights among Republicans who were there for the meeting. I should note that, I mean, I was going to say it's understandable, tensions are high. It's not understandable. No matter how high tensions are, you don't need to kick anybody in the who'sy-whatsy at a political meeting. There's no excuse for it. Michigan Republicans, you should know, are doing poorly right now in lots of different ways."

This comes amid Donald Trump's demand that Michigan Republicans find a way to overthrow the 2020 election three years after the fact. However, the Michigan GOP now has an election denier as the state party chair. Meanwhile, the state's GOP lost every state-wide office and Democrats now have both chambers of the legislature.

"That said, Michigan Republicans are apparently still capable of breaking each other's ribs at meetings. So, they've got that," quipped Maddow.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, some of the county parties signed on to sponsor an event with a neo-Nazi as the speaker. A county Republican leader posted the flier online and begged others to withdraw their support. They did, except for the student GOP group that is hosting the neo-Nazi. The county GOP groups said the young Republicans "tricked" them into sponsoring the event.

"Okay, bullet dodged," said Maddow. "Three Arizona Republican Party county organizations are not, despite earlier reports, sponsoring the neo-Nazi speaker at their conference. That said, this College Republicans group from Arizona still is. They're the ones who invited him, and they are absolutely still hosting him. So there's that, the group is called Arizona College Republicans United."

In South Carolina, a flier circulated promoting the idea of Trump supporters starting their own party to
    "secure a permanent white majority."

In Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was removed from the Freedom Caucus for being too cozy with Speaker Kevin McCarthy and attacking Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO).

In Ohio, the former GOP Speaker got a hefty sentence for a bribery scheme he was caught in.

These are the things the Republican Party is dealing with as the next presidential election approaches.

See Maddow's opener below or at the link here.
