And the cancel culture also wants Helen Keller to be minimalized.
    Cause, you know, white privilege.

Shooter understands the cancel culture is all about destroying all things American and we can expect more of this potato head/Dr. Suess/Helen Keller nonsense, but he wonders when America will address the victim mentality that is the basis of the cancel culture.

Or if we will have the will to deal with it. You know, before it's too late.

Good question, before it's to late. Is it already? The division of the melting pot, has grown and may not ever be what the unity once was, and that was the strength of this nation.

This is just common with the conservative/Republicans and their glaring hypocrisy of "cancel culture." First they scream "cancel couture" and then turn right around and try to cancel the entire historical commission for removing the bust of a racist, terrorist, murderer, from the state capitol.

Tennessee GOP has a ‘cancel culture’ freakout over removal of KKK founder’s bust – proposes firing entire historical commission

    https://www.rawstory.com/tennessee-gop-kkk/

PS It is my impression at least that the Tennessee Historical Commission must be one of the best in the country. We spent a week in Nashville taking in all the sights but I did not walk out of the Tennessee State Museum the same way I walked in. It was nothing but pure history including slavery and the KKK with no censorship, no spin, and no apologies. And the brutality and horror of slavery was inescapable and so was the terrorism of the KKK.. It was like diamond hard.

So the Tennessee State Museum is the prefect place for a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest. They can put it right next to his KKK robe where he is exposed as a racist terrorist murderer not a hero..

My great grand mother was born on a plantation. She told us stories about when she was a child growing up on a plantation. She said by the time she was old enough to walk she had to carry a gun if she ever left the house. Slaves would kill a white child anytime they could find on alone.
To the day she died she carried a gun. Sometimes it would be a small gun and sometimes it would be a big gun. She carried it in the pocket of her apron. She would show it to me every time I came to visit.

US: Maryland repeals Confederate call to arms as state song
The Civil War-era song has for decades been a subject of debate that gained new urgency amid racial injustice protests.

Legislators in the US state of Maryland have passed a repeal of the state song, a Civil War-era call to arms for the Confederacy that also refers to President Abraham Lincoln as a despot.

One thing that is very common with social justice issues is when they get started they try to listen to everyone which includes the people who go too far. And corrections must be made. We saw that with "defund the police." That was just stupid and the right used it to great advantage in their false propaganda noise machine. When the reality was President Biden spoke for the vast majority when he said he had no intention of "defunding the police"s and in fact would do the opposite if elected which is increase funding for better recruiting and training. And now we have another example of that. Some were demanding we not only remove the names of Confederate traitors but expand that to include all slave holders which would include many of the founders of this country. That is obviously going to far and corrections are being made.

San Francisco Ditches Plan to Strip Founding Father Names From Schools

San Francisco’s school board has abandoned its plan to strip the names of Founding Fathers and other historical figures from 44 schools after the scheme was criticized for going too far and partially relying on flawed research posted on Wikipedia. According to SFGate, the city’s Board of Education voted unanimously late Tuesday to reverse its decision to strip the names—including Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Paul Revere—from a third of its public schools. The plan would have also seen the renaming of schools that honor Treasure Island author Robert Louis Stevenson and veteran Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who reportedly made the list because, when she was mayor in 1984, a vandalized Confederate flag outside the City Hall was replaced. Mayor London Breed previously called the renaming plans “offensive and completely unacceptable,” and urged the board to focus on getting kids back into classrooms safely during the pandemic. The board plans to revisit the matter after all students have returned full-time.

This one has been going on for more than a week now but I haven't posted anything on it because kidnapping a Jefferson Davis chair and threatening to turn it into a toilet unless the Daughters of the Confederacy flew a BLM banner was just too unbelievable. Because who could be that stupid. The monument is reportedly valued at $500,000 and you can be a purple alien but you fuck with that kind of money and you are going to prison.

NOLA Cops Arrest Two in Bizarre Confederate Chair Ransom Saga

Police in New Orleans have arrested two people and are in search of a third after recovering a Confederate monument that the alleged thieves had threatened to convert into a toilet. The two alleged robbers, Stanley Warnick and Kathryn Diionno, have been charged with possession of stolen property, and police are hunting for Stanley Pate. The Jefferson Davis Memorial Chair, owned by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, was “seemingly undamaged,” police said. It had been lifted from a cemetery in Selma, Alabama, in late March, and its takers had threatened to defecate in it unless the Daughters of the Confederacy flew a banner featuring a quote from a Black Liberation Army activist, signing the email “White Lies Matter.” The alleged thieves had included what appeared to be a picture of the chair with a hole cut in the seat like a toilet, but later messages said it was a replica and the original would be returned without damage.

I think one thing that drove racism in the US home to me was when Hank Aaron started getting death threats because he was about to break Babe Ruth's home run record. That's when I realized just how deeply racial hate went in some people.. We had gone through the Civil Rights movement and things were supposed to be getting better and yet some people wanted to kill Hank Aaron because he was a Black man about to break a White man's record. That just boggled my mind. I mean Hank Aaron? What's not to like about Hank Aaron? And records are made to be broken. What difference does skin color have to do with it.

So I am not only glad to see this I can't help but wonder if Hank Aaron might not take a lot of pride in this. Sort of like breaking another record.

Atlanta’s school board voted this week to rename a high school after baseball great Hank Aaron, removing the name of a former Ku Klux Klan leader.

In a unanimous vote, the city’s school board will rename Forrest Hill Academy to the Hank Aaron New Beginnings Academy, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday.

The school was named after the first Ku Klux Klan grand wizard and Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest.

A federal judge has ordered Richard Spencer’s far-right think tank, the National Policy Institute, to pay $2.4 million to an Ohio man who was badly hurt at a 2017 neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that the group helped promote, according to the Associated Press. The man, Bill Burke, was hit by the same car that struck and killed counter-protester Heather Heyer during the infamous event. He suffered head and knee injuries, a crushed left arm, and ongoing “severe psychological and emotional suffering,” his 2019 lawsuit said.

The damages awarded to Burke include $217,613 for medical expenses, $350,000 in punitive damages, $500,000 for pain and suffering, and $1 million for emotional distress. After the attack, Burke reportedly split with his wife, couldn’t work for more than a year, and now suffers from survivor’s guilt. Spencer and his organization never officially acknowledged Burke’s lawsuit, making it unclear if he will ever get the money.

Treasonous conservative/Republicans are constantly trying to re-write the history of the Civil War trying to divert attention from the simple historical facts that the Confederates were and are traitors to the United States of America who fought a war for the sake of slavery.

'One inaccuracy after another': South Carolina GOP buried by historian for pushing myths about Black Confederate soldiers

    Brad Reed

A top Civil War historian is calling out Republicans in South Carolina who are proposing the construction of a new monument intended to pay tribute to Black men who served the Confederacy.

Kevin Levin, who has written an entire book about the myths surrounding Black soldiers in the Confederate Army, described the South Carolina GOP's legislation establishing a monument to "Africa American Confederate Veterans" as being "filled with one historical inaccuracy after another."

Although there were some Black South Carolina residents who drew pensions related to their service during the Civil War, Levin notes that "the vast majority of these men were body servants or what I call in my book camp slaves."

In fact, the original legislation establishing pensions for these men and their families describes Black Confederates as "servants, cooks, and attendants on the side of the Confederacy."

Additionally, notes Levin, the amount of money set aside for Blacks who served the Confederacy was dwarfed by the pensions set aside for white Confederate soldiers.

"As was the case in the other states, the amount of money earmarked for African Americans in SC paled in comparison with that for veterans," writes Levin. "In 1924 the state appropriated $750,000 for soldiers and $3,000 for Black pensioners."

Nation’s Biggest Shrine to Confederacy Will Get New Exhibit to Explain Dark Past
    ‘WARTS AND ALL’

The nation’s biggest shrine to the Confederacy will soon become much less celebratory about its dark history. Georgia’s Stone Mountain Confederate Memorial—the largest bas-relief sculpture on earth—shows three Confederate generals on horseback: President Jefferson Davis, and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. According to CNN, the memorial’s board confirmed Monday that it’s creating a new exhibit to tell “the whole story” of the monument—including its decades-long association with the Ku Klux Klan. It’s also moving a Confederate flag display and redesigning its logo, which depicts the monument. Announcing the changes in a statement, the board said it wants to tell “the warts and all history” of the carving. Rev. Abraham Mosley, chairman of Stone Mountain Memorial Association, said: “I know folks have been waiting for some time to see changes at this beloved state park... Additions and changes are coming, but we are on a journey, and we want to get this right.”
