I don't usually don't do the piece of shit comments Magpie because they are no good for long replies even though this is kind of just between me. You have been around long enough to remember what I am talking about. This forum was still in its infancy so to speak and it was hands down the most no holds barred, free for all brawl on the internet. Just as an example fucking Pookey (a literally amazing member) would post videos of people getting their brains blown out in Iraq and the reaction would be something like POOKEY YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE WARN US NEXT TIME. STOP TRICKING US INTO SEEING THAT SHIT!!!!! But nowhere in my life have I encountered more intelligent, amazing, in many cases educated, sexy and fun loving people in one place. And I am an American where "free speech" is supposed to be enshrined and revered. But I had never seen a true working example of free speech until I landed here and to my eternal gratitude and admiration Nophest protected free speech like a mother Grizzle protects her cubs. For at least as long as he could.

And as you well know Baller16 was the most explosive, obstinate, and trouble making members we had. He was constantly picking fights he couldn't handle, getting his ass kicked, and then just going insane ballistic.Of course he was just a kid with a problem or two.

So back then we did have access to the admins and Nophest and Baller16 of all people started crying to the admins to add the ignore feature that he said existed on other forums because some members made him go ballistic when we told him he was full of shit. And so we ended up having a debate about whether to add the ignore feature or not and the great and immortal Kimiko (oh God do I miss her) pointed out the fallacy of it all when she simply said; "The best way to ignore someone is to ..... well ... just ignore them."

I have lived by that amazingly simple wisdom ever since because without saying it she pointed out that if you have to have a mechanical feature in order to ignore someone the problem isn't really them. It is you. And so I have never used the ignore feature once in all the time I have been here.

And I am sure you remember and appreciate the forum history and irony. Baller16 never did either.

Oh man have I ever Magpie. We have always had socks and we have always had troll/socks. But you know some of them were at least fun. And in other instances I got played by troll/socks that I wasn't able to spot for a long long time. In fact sometimes member would take pity on me and actually point out a sock or two to me just to save me time and misery. But now I don't think the socks really even try to hide it that much and if they do they are just God awful terrible at it. They stick out like sore thumbs and follow just dead give away patterns.

But it isn't just the quality of socks that has fallen. So has the quality of members. You look at some of the comments and the stupidity and igrorance is like hearing finger nails on a chalk board. It is literally that painful to me.

You stumbler seem to like a rough and tumble kind environment.

I perfer an environment that lacks an ideological agenda, and which welcomes controversial opinions.

Nevertheless, I believe that flaming contributes nothing of value to the discussion of important issues which have legitimate policy implications.

If personal insults are prohibited, or at least restricted, posters will be required to compose fact based, logically reasoned, and articulate arguments. They will also be more inclined to acknowledge that there may be elements of truth in opposing arguments.

If I am trying to discover where truth lies on a complex issue, any appeal to emotion causes me to give more credence to the other side.

Having said all of that, I enjoy the way you have responded to msman in this thread. He picked a fight with you and lost. He merits no respect.

I was raised by my mum and grandparents, my grandfather won a medal during WW1 while fighting on The Somme. He returned from that horrific hell and instilled into my mother to be a conscientious objector if it ever happens again.....they both instilled it into me.

I had the conscience and the bottle to stand against the government of the day that I didn't support who had a policy of blindly following the U.S. into countries that weren't threatening Australia or the world.
My case in point was Vietnam.
I was 6 months away from either being conscripted or choosing jail....jail would have been my choice. What saved me and thousand of other young Aussies was a change of government who abolished military conscription and withdrew our troops.

Of prominent Republican men, very few older ones served in the military during the War in Vietnam. Hardly any of them saw combat like John Kerry did.

Democrat Jon Ossoff is 7 points ahead of Republican Karen Handel in the race for Georgia’s 6th Congressional District seat, according to a SurveyUSA survey released Monday.

Fifty-one percent of likely and actual voters in Georgia say they would vote for Ossoff if the election were held today. Forty-four percent say they would vote for Handel, while 6 percent are undecided.

The runoff will be held June 20 and is being closely watched by both parties as a potential bellwether for how President Trump could affect the 2018 midterm elections.

RNC Breaks May Fundraising Record While DNC Has Worst Haul in Years

A tale of two fundraising hauls for May spells doom for the Democrats. The Republican National Committee eagerly emailed its supporters Tuesday with news it had set a record for May.

Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Finance Chairman Steve Wynn announced the RNC raised $10.8 million in May, a new post-presidential record, and $61.9 million overall in 2017. “Our fundraising success wouldn’t be possible without the support of our network of loyal grassroots donors across the country and bold leadership from President Trump and Congressional Republicans,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “Thanks to the continued investment by Americans who truly believe conservative values will continue to change this country for the better, the RNC will be there to support, defend, and elect Republicans headed into 2018 and beyond.”

The story at the Democratic National Committee was not so rosy. They had their worst fundraising since 2003, raking in just $4.29 million.

Their lackluster fundraising is becoming a trend. In fact, April’s haul was so paltry that NBC’s Hallie Jackson even demanded answers from new DNC Chair Tom Perez, who deferred blame.

“I got there on March 1,” he told her.

The Democrats’ financial troubles were on display in Georgia Tuesday night as well, when Republican Karen Handel defeated her Democratic opponent Jon Ossoff in the special election to fill the seat left vacant by now HHS Secretary Tom Price. Despite spending millions, their guy still lost.

“After spending more than $30 million, Ossoff becomes the biggest loser in the history of Congress," Congressional Leadership Fund Executive Director Corry Bliss said.

As for the talk about polls above: People that are polled often use these mediums to spread misinformation and give a false sense of security to those that might have preconceived ideas that something can end up a runaway. This misinformation is skewed but the media fall right into that trap of what some of us call "countermeasures".

What is does is one of two things, it lights a fire under the asses of some that don't like the idea of the horse they back being behind in the polls and they go out in droves to vote to change that.

Polls are basically fake news with a lesson ...

 

Since I'm here let me put something to rest:

I started recording music at an early age and got my first big gig engineering an album for one of Canada's bigger bands back in 1973-74. keep doing that as I went through school and opened a small 8 track studio that later grew to a 16 track studio that got some pretty cool traffic. Graduated high school and did a stint with the Canadian military as an EOD and got to blow shit up for them at the same time. Went to university and got kicked out of law class for out arguing my professor so switched my major to economics/finance and went on to get a masters in that while playing one season with the school hockey team where we won a gold medal for Canada. Graduated university and got my brokers license and after a short stint working in the industry opened my own investment company. Sold my studio to the company and bought or invested in as many small endeavors as I could afford that had a good return potential. Went back to school and after still having a bad taste in my mouth for criminal law switched to sports and entertainment law where I picked up a few high value clients in both the sports and music industry. They were clients of the company and not mine personally. Got married to a fashion model which was one of the worst mistakes of my life but a great learning experience, traveled extensively which I still do to this day. Kept building up the company and eventually bought a minority ownership in a professional football team that opened MANY doors in that field as well as the hockey and auto racing world that continue to this day as well including writing as a contractor for the AP/Canadian press. Sold my company for a bucketload of money and thought I would retire, that lasted less than a year when I opened a new company and did it all again until I sold part of my company last year and gave most of it to my employees as my way of saying well done. The part I sold was run into the ground so I bought it back at 50 cents on the dollar and operate it at arms length still today and it generates plenty of retirement funds. Getting married in August to the love of my life and doctors tell me I have 15-18 months left in a perfect world unless they make medical advancements in that time ...

During my time owning my company I made contacts in sports, music, oil and gas and entertainment and auto racing world which I am able to help with by helping them find financing for lower budget films which I am getting more into by the month. I took a contract position with an oil giant building gas plants for them over the years and during that time got my B Pressure welding ticket which I burned a lot of stick for them over the years both above ground and under water, hence the love for deep scuba diving ... the love for racing came from starting out in Go Carts and advancing to other mediums until I settled on FunnyCar and now own 2 cars which are driven by women that love going fast.

Nothing I have ever said is any different than what I have said from the beginning and for you retards that keep harping on me being something new every other year, you are misguided and misinformed with your rhetoric and my 6 ish years of posting will back the above up IF you would stfu long enough to actually look before you leap ...
