Like most people I get so many Robo calls that disturb me, usually starting at 9am til almost 10pm at night.
and yes I've done about everything to try to stop them including NOMO which works well but not for all.
So now I answer them sometime when I can and I'm retired so I have the time, and I keep them on the line and make big orders and drag out the sales guy as long as I can taking as much of his time as I can and then tell him to hold while I get my credit card put the phone down and go for coffee..
I'm retired and old and have the time to waste...not everyone can. Yeah I know he has to make a living but not on my phone he doesn't. Do I get less Robo calls Nope!

 

Robo calls are the debil!

 

We unplugged our phone years ago.
Hell, the only reason we still have a landline is for the internet.

 

If a number is not in my phone book I don't answer.

 

You are actually a little more fortunate than my wife and I. First it started with recordings because if there is actually a human on the other end of the line you can say "take me off this call list" and if they don't and keep calling you can report them and there has been some big fines handed out. But it its just a recording you can't do that.

And like others have already said if we didn't recognize the number we just wouldn't answer it. So the next thing was they use what appear to be local numbers which could get us to answer because it could be someone we know and could be something important. But once we wised up to them we started taking the chance and didn't answer thinking if it was something important they could leave a message.

Then of all the fucking shit now they are calling my wife about a dozen times a day and the number that comes up is her phone number. And I don't even know how they do that but how in the fuck can you block your own phone number?

Needless to say this is just really pissing me off and I am actively working on a solution. Which is somewhere in the trash heap of congress there is actually a bill to crack down on these fuckers and make them stop using recordings and disguised numbers. But there hasn't been any action on it lately. So I am calling and emailing my congressional delegation and demanding they get off their asses and do something about the robo calls.

And we all know that usually contacting your representatives in congress is a waste of time but it won't be in this instance because it is something they can actually do to help their constituents regardless of party and you can bet both Democrats and Republicans are eager to get a win on the board.

So I would encourage everyone to call or email their representatives and let them know you are pissed off about this. Which will probably be enough to make them dig up their robo call bill and pass it.

 

Saw an item this morning in, I think, USA Today, that they are actually working on this. Using fake numbers to call you - even your own - is called spoofing, and easily done (the article explains it, I'll see if I can dig it up), but there is a solution to detect it, once they get the phone companies on board.
