Fla. Gov. DeSantis: No need to turn vaccination into a show

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) is pushing back on the Biden administration’s plans for mass vaccination.



When asked if he plans on getting the COVID-19 vaccine, DeSantis said there’s no need to get vaccinated in public for everyone to see.



“I’m not sure we’re gonna do it on camera, I mean we’ll see,” DeSantis said. “I mean, if you guys want a gun show maybe we could do it, but probably better off not.”

DeSantis said vaccinations must remain voluntary and it is a private matter for each individual to decide whether they want to get one and how to do it. The governor also said Biden’s push for vaccine passports and the segregation of non-vaccinated people is illegal and violates human rights.

“With these vaccine passports, it’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society,” DeSantis stated. “We’re not supportive of that. I think it’s something that people have certain freedoms and individual freedoms to make decisions for themselves.”

DeSantis added he opposes the use of vaccines and medical information for the purposes of extending government control.

He went on to stress that Florida will remain a free state.

Shooter will be excited to have someone ask if he's been vaccinated when that knowledge is unnecessary for them to know.

A water main that ruptured in a Pacific Palisades neighborhood sent water gushing into the streets and threatened several apartment complexes, prompting street closures, officials said Sunday night.

The rupture, first reported around 7:43 p.m., affected multiple apartment complexes near Sunset Boulevard and Muskingum Avenue, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an alert.

LAFD initially reported around 9 p.m. that evacuation orders were in place, but it was unclear how many buildings might be affected.

Around 11 p.m., one of the apartment buildings had reported damage but residents were not displaced. No one was injured in the incident, although officials said LAFD rescued one person from the water unharmed.

Last week, an angry Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) snapped at a CBS reporter asking about evidence showing a kind of "pay to play" scandal that favored the wealthy to get COVID-19 vaccinations first.

Community health officials have said that the Florida vaccine roll-out favors the rich over the rest of Florida residents, the report said.

"Florida's rollout started pretty typically," the report said. "The first doses were given to healthcare workers and nursing home residents in early December. But then, a few weeks later, Gov. Ron DeSantis, breaking from C.D.C. guidelines, announced he would not vaccinate teachers and essential workers next, but instead put 'seniors first,' making anyone 65 or over eligible for the vaccine, the first in the country to do that. DeSantis said seniors were at highest risk."

It caused a run on the vaccine, websites crashed and it was extremely difficult.

"Almost immediately the line-jumping started," said the report.

West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James was trying to get vaccines for the town's firefighters, but he later learned that some wealthy board members of a nursing home who were able to be vaccinated.

"Then, the private jets started arriving," said the report. "Hollywood moguls, New York socialites and tourists from overseas were getting vaccinated in Florida, posting on social media and sparking outrage. Early on, there were no residency requirements to get vaccinated in the state."

Mayor James said that there were simply no rules and everyone was taking advantage of it.

’60 Minutes’ edits exchange with Fla. Gov. DeSantis, reporter

CBS has been accused of deceptively editing a fiery exchange between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and a reporter for “60 minutes.” The exchange occurred during a recent press conference near Orlando with the governor speaking about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

After the speech, a CBS reporter accused him of selecting Publix stores to distribute the vaccines due to pay-to-play schemes. However, “60 Minutes” omitted other context from the press conference in which he said the first commercial pharmacies to distribute the vaccine were CVS and Walgreens.

Meantime, the unedited version of the interview appears to have been removed from the “60-minutes” YouTube page.

 

Fla. Gov. DeSantis refutes report of ‘radioactive water’

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) issued a state of emergency in three counties due to possible flooding in the Tampa Bay Area. In a news conference Sunday, DeSantis said state and federal emergency teams are on stand-by at the Piney Point Reservoir.

“So what we’re looking at now, is trying to prevent and respond to, if need be, a real catastrophic flood situation,” DeSantis stated.

He refuted mainstream media speculation that has called the potential flooding “radioactive water.” The Florida governor said a possible flood is a bigger concern than the quality of water.

“Water quality issues that are flowing from this, for us, is less than the risk of everyone’s health and safety, particularly folks who may live in the area,” DeSantis noted. “So public health and safety is the top priority, and obviously, we want to protect in a way that minimizes any of the environmental impacts.”

The Republican governor also stressed, the water is not radioactive and a flood will likely not happen.

 

The Palm Beach County Mayor - a DEMOCRAT, rips this bullshit to shreds:
"The reporting was not just based on bad information — it was intentionally false," Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner wrote in a statement. "I know this because I offered to provide my insight into Palm Beach County's vaccination efforts and 60 Minutes declined. They know that the governor came to Palm Beach County and met with me and the county administrator and we asked to expand the state's partnership with Publix to Palm Beach County."

On Tuesday, the Orlando Sentinel reported that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) attacked CBS News for their "60 Minutes" report alleging he improperly awarded COVID vaccine contracts to a major corporate donor, the Publix supermarket chain, and let communities supportive of him cut to the front of the line.

DeSantis, speaking at a press conference, further suggested there would be "consequences" for the network, although hg did not elaborate on what those consequences would be.

"What they're saying is a total crock, that somehow only Publix was getting [the vaccine] is nonsense," said DeSantis. "And we told them it was that and they cut it out. They spliced it because they can't handle the truth. … So they went for the smear."

As the Sentinel noted, DeSantis did not actually challenge the majority of the CBS report's claims.

"The bulk of the story, which generally rehashed earlier stories reported in Florida, actually pointed out the disparity in how vaccines were administered in Palm Beach County, with the rich jumping to the front of the line over low-income residents who live 25 miles or more from a Publix," reported Steven Lemongello. "DeSantis and the Republican Party's fierce pushback against the story also sidestepped the issue of vaccination sites set up in wealthy senior communities developed by DeSantis donor Pat Neal, which were also mentioned in the '60 Minutes' piece."

DeSantis has faced allegations for weeks that he has steered vaccines to communities of wealthy supporters. He has denied having a role in vaccine distribution, although leaked text messages between state government officials contradict his denial.
