    NO BREAKOUT MOMENT FOR DESANTIS

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stood at center stage, but he wasn’t at the center of the evening.

No candidate came into the debate facing more pressure than DeSantis. For weeks, his poll numbers have been sliding and the gap with Trump widening, jeopardizing his argument that he is voters' preferred alternative to Trump.

I like the way DeSantis busses illegal immigrants to neighborhoods where rich liberals live. For two generations we have been paying the price for their ideals. This is a price they have avoided paying themselves.

No wonder DeSantis wants to spend most his time out of Florida. We got malaria, leprosy, flesh eating bacteria, and now diseased monkeys wondering around. But maybe DeSantis can show some real leadership and cut costs by transplanting some of the out of control python population to the diseased areas to eat the monkeys.

Caution: Monkeys — Florida officials warn residents amid simian sightings

Wild monkeys have been spotted in Orange City, Fla., sparking warnings from local officials to stay away from the on-the-loose primates.

Orange City police warned residents not to feed a wild rhesus monkey seen in the town, about 30 miles north of Orlando.

The monkeys can cause outbreaks of E. coli and herpes and devastate quail and other bird populations by eating eggs, according to a publication from the University of Florida.

It is unknown how many rhesus monkeys, native to Southeast Asia, roam wild in the state. There are also several populations of squirrel monkeys wild in Florida.

“Rhesus macaques pose the greatest ecological and human health threats of the monkeys in Florida,” the university said. “Macaques accustomed to being fed lose their fear of humans and begin to see humans as a food source. As a result, the macaques may become aggressive, attacking humans when food is around.”

It is illegal to feed wild monkeys in Florida, with the crime punishable by up to 2 months in jail and a $500 fine.

Wild rhesus monkeys came to Florida in the 1930s, released in north-central Florida by a local boat captain, the university said. Another population was created by a research institute in the Florida Keys in the 1970s and wreaked havoc on mangrove trees.

“Monkeys are interesting animals, and many people enjoy watching and interacting with them,” the university said. “It is important to remember, however, they are not native to Florida, and unmanaged populations could potentially be dangerous for the environment, native wildlife, or humans.”

'Blood on his hands': Sobbing Florida lawmaker blames DeSantis' 'woke war' for Jacksonville shooting

    Sarah K. Burris
    August 27, 2023, 4:15 PM ET

Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon (D) attributes attacks on people of color in her state to Gov. Ron DeSantis' war against "woke."

For months, DeSantis campaigned for president by touting his record banning the teaching about slavery, discussing the Civil Rights movement, and other history involving Black Americans. He bragged that Florida was where "woke" came to die.

The term "woke" was often used by the Black community to mean "stay aware," whether it was aware of what was around your daily life or aware of what was happening in politics, policy, and your community. It has evolved to mean being aware of the systemic problems people face as a result of their race. But when asked about what it actually means, those against it have had trouble explaining what it is.

When that has been the debate for the past year with the governor supporting the death of "woke," Nixon explained it translates into violence. A gunman attempted to kill students at a historically Black Christian college, but was run off of campus by a security guard. So, he turned to a local Dollar Store in the neighborhood and opened fire on the Black shoppers there. His racist manifesto was emailed to the police, his parents and media before the shooting.

"Look, at the end of the day, the governor has blood on his hands," Nixon told MSNBC on Sunday. "He has had an attack, an all-out attack on the Black community with his woke policies, which we know very well, was nothing more than a dog whistle to get folks riled up in the way in which it just happened yesterday. I listened to him for the first time with that statement, my blood is literally boiling."

She explained that in the last few legislative sessions, she and only predominately Black representatives have tried to tell DeSantis how his rhetoric would end up getting people hurt. That's what happened, she said.

"This is absurd, it is ridiculous, he is one of the causes of this," she continued. "This is an agenda that he has been pushing since he has gotten into office. He showed us who he was when he initially ran for governor saying do not monkey this around. Do not monkey this up. That type of statement. It only leads to things like this."

In the wake of DeSantis' war, she said, Republicans around the state are following suit, "doing everything to continually attack Black lives. They are doing everything to erase Black history. They are feeding our children propaganda. All that does is lead to the devaluation of Black lives. This guy had no respect for the community. He had no respect, and my colleagues who are in leadership need to stand up and stop the mansplaining, and the gaslighting, and the racist rhetoric, that they spew time and time again on the House floor, and the Senate chambers."

She began to get emotional, her voice quivering, but she wouldn't back down.

She cited the recent bill Florida lawmakers passed honoring Rush Limbaugh by naming a roadway after him. He was well-known for being racist, homophobic and misogynist.

"Then we have a very vindictive governor, who, if we speak out, we are punished as elected officials," Nixon continued. "I along with Representative [Travaris] McCurdy up on that House floor when [DeSantis] unconstitutionally came after two congressional black districts to remove them. I was placed in a basement with rats because I spoke up for my community. I am more than angry. And now that these families — they no longer have their family members. Gov. DeSantis and the Republican Party of Florida are doing nothing but hurting us. And I am angry. I will not continue to sit idly by."

She implored lawmakers on both sides to come together to stop the hateful rhetoric and community members to hold their lawmakers accountable.

See her emotional plea in the video below or at the link here.

Ron DeSantis booed to his face by Black Jacksonville community members after shooting

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was booed at the Jacksonville vigil for the three murdered on Saturday.

DeSantis is being accused of helping inspire the shooter who opened fire on a Dollar General in a Black neighborhood. The shooter had initially attempted to go to a nearby historically Black Christian university, but he was chased off by security guards.

DeSantis has spent over a year fighting what he calls "woke" policies, removing the teaching of slavery and civil rights from Florida schools and killing African American AP programs from Florida high schools.

One Florida lawmaker went so far as to accuse DeSantis of having "blood on his hands" for his role in promoting racism and hate.

DeSantis had to be defended by a local Black city councilwoman, who told the crowd that "a bullet doesn't have a [political] party."

There was a couple boo's coming from the background, probably Democrats but the majority of the people there, was applauding that the governor for showing up at the time of their need!

He damn sure wasn't sitting in his easy chair, on the beach for 3 days before showing up! like someone else you admire but the rest of us can't stand!!!

On behalf of all Floridians, we don't accept this kind of bullshit!

And your raving hypocrisy is just laughable. If a few people boo President Biden in Maui you plaster that all over the board. But if I post about DeSantis getting booed I' m a fucking asshole.

Florida officials say gas stations supplied by CITGO have 'strong likelihood' of diesel contamination

Florida officials announced on Sunday that fuel purchased after 10 a.m. on Saturday was likely contaminated with diesel if it was supplied by CITGO from the Port of Tampa.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) made the announcement on social media, saying the contamination was caused by human error.

Gov. Ron DeSantis noted the announcement during a press conference regarding Tropical Storm Idalia, which is barreling toward the U.S. southern coast and could make landfall in Florida.

GAS PRICES DROP AHEAD OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND: AAA

DeSantis said an investigation into the fuel contamination and how widespread it is, is underway.

The governor also said the contamination was "just human error," and the workers put diesel in tanks that were supposed to be for regular gasoline.

"Obviously if you have a tank of gas, and it’s 90% regular and 10% diesel, the dilution…probably may not ruin your car, but I mean if you put a whole tank of diesel in, that’s going to be a major, major problem," DeSantis said.

OIL PRICES SURGE AGAIN, SPARKING INFLATION REBOOT FEARS

He added that he spoke with FDACS Wilton Simpson, who said they were trying to get a list of all the gas stations that may have cross-contaminated fuel, so people know if they filled up at those stations.

The FDACS said if anyone believes they were sold contaminated gas, they can file a complaint by calling 1-800-HELP-FLA or by visiting fdacs.gov.

A spokesperson for CITGO told Fox News Digital that on Saturday, the company discovered contaminated product at its Tampa, Florida terminal because of a product routing issue at the terminal, and immediately shut down the rack.

"All CITGO Marketers who lifted gasoline and diesel from the terminal between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. have been notified and asked to stop sales," a statement from the company read. "A limited number of retail locations are affected, and CITGO is currently coordinating efforts to remove the product from the retail locations that received it."

The company said it is committed to safe, reliable and responsible operations and is conducting a full investigation into the incident.

CITGO also said it is committed to maintaining the quality of its fuels and ensuring customer confidence in its products and brand.

If a consumer believes they purchased contaminated fuel on or after Aug. 26, they can file a claim with the CITGO Good Gas Guarantee program on the company’s website.

Revealed: Prosecutor fired by DeSantis was on the verge of cracking down on crooked cops

A Florida prosecutor who was one of two fired by Gov. Ron DeSantis as part of his war on "wokeness" is questioning the timing of her dismissal while revealing that she was poised to bring charges against a bevy of crooked cops.

In an interview with the Daily Beast's Jose Pagliery, Orlando-based State Attorney Monique Worrell suggested that DeSantis -- who is running a faltering campaign to be the 2024 Republican Party's presidential nominee -- may have been giving a local sheriff an assist by removing her from her post.

Worrell notes she was looking into a cover-up conspiracy among law officers who were faking documents to disguise accusations of abusive behavior.

Speaking with the Beast, she explained, "They thought that I was overly critical of law enforcement and didn't do anything against ‘real criminals.' Apparently there’s a difference between citizens who commit crimes and cops who commit crimes.”

POLL: Should Trump be able to run for office?

Worrell reportedly noted that there are approximately 20 law enforcement agencies that were balking at her investigation and DeSantis rode to their rescue.

"And they were all working against me, because I was prosecuting their cops, the ones who used to do things and get away with them,” she accused.

Pagliery wrote, "of all his stunning power grabs, perhaps the most shocking was the vengeful way DeSantis removed two progressive prosecutors in Central Florida. In August of last year, he fired Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren, citing the prosecutor’s stated refusal to jail women for having an abortion that violated Florida’s increasingly stringent and conservative laws."

According to Worrell, it appears DeSantis has been targeting her for months.

"Worrell said she’s less than two weeks away from making the final decision of whether or not to sue the state over the way it handled her ousting. But she’s already developing a plan to run for re-election next year—potentially facing her replacement as an incumbent," Pagliery wrote.

More absolute proof there is a double standard on this forum that allows you fair haired boys to get away with things like that.

But since you brought up the councilwoman she admits DeSantis wasn't invited. DeSantis obviously saw this tragic event as a chance to use the tragedy to help score and facilitate some cheap political points by barging in for a photo op.

Democratic Jacksonville Councilwoman Who Defended DeSantis at Shooting Vigil Says He Wasn’t Invited but Crowd Shouldn’t Have Booed
    By Jamie FreveleAug 28th, 2023, 12:23 pm

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appeared at a vigil for the victims and community of the racially-motivated mass shooting in Jacksonville, he was not well-received. He was audibly booed by the crowd until Democratic Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman stood up for him, telling everyone, “It’s ain’t about parties today.” On Monday, Pittman gave CNN more details about DeSantis’ appearance and revealed that the governor wasn’t actually invited.

Speaking to CNN’s Boris Sanchez, Pittman explained that days after a White gunman murdered three Black shoppers at a Jacksonville Family Dollar, the hate crime “has crippled and handcuffed our community. And families are hurting. You know, they’re heartbroken. Our community is heartbroken as well.”

But when asked about DeSantis, Pittman was eager to make it very clear that despite his taking the mic, this event was not meant to be about him. In fact, she didn’t know he was going to be there, let alone speak:

I had no idea that the governor was coming. The emcee of the event for that day called him up. He was just only was supposed to have been acknowledged as being there. That vigil that we did yesterday was was not about the governor. And I will say I don’t support any of the stances or policies that the governor has implemented. You know, my concern yesterday was about the families. It was not a political ploy for me and our community. It was about focusing on the families that was there and the hatred that had come to their community. And so I just want to make myself clear, I wanted the audience to calm down because I wanted him to sit down and I wanted it to be the event that was for the residents and the community that had come together for unity. That’s what that event was about, not the governor.

DeSantis called the shooter, who turned the gun on himself, a “scumbag,” and pledged $1 million in funds for security at Edward Waters University, a HBCU that the gunman initially approached before the shooting at the Family Dollar.

Nonetheless, some critics have said that DeSantis’ “war on woke” has spread the rhetoric that led to this crime; Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon (D) said DeSantis had “blood on his hands” when details of the shooter’s white supremacist beliefs came to light:

This is a governor who has done nothing but fan these types of happenings throughout our state. Look, at the end of the day, the governor has blood on his hands. He has had an attack, an all-out attack, on the black community with his anti-woke policies, which we know very well was nothing more than a dog whistle to get folks up and riled up in the way in which it just happened yesterday.

DeSantis only pretends to support a fascist president. He wants to emerge as the Republican presidential candidate after Trump is in prison, and denied the ability to communicate with his followers.

Unfortunately for DeSantis Trump supporters do not want a polished, well educated version of Trump. They want the real thing. They actually approve of Trump's low class vulgarity.
