  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Gum law reform has started
    :)
Basically all military style seemi auto's
    Banned.
All modification pieces and parts banned.
Most guns restricted to 5 shot mags
A few small calibre rifles will be allowed up to 10 shot loading.
That allows for farmers and the likes of rabbit cintrol people etc

    A great start.
Shameful it is 12 yresrs late , but we can't change that.

At least it's universal , politically united , no opposition.
That means no one is going to play silly political games for point s scoring.

    There is more comming.
Quite a lot more I think

Almost everybody is asking how scumbag got his liscence.

It is coming to light that there were some serious shortcomings in the process.
I hope the news hounds and others keep on this
    hard.
Those , Any who failed in their job need to he exposed.

It needs to be made very clear that people who fail , or short circuit the system , will be exposed.

Police and others can't hide behind the badge , all saying , we don't know ,
it wasn't me , we didn't know etc

We know he wasn't a fit person ,
and that he should have been noticed ,
    and had he been ,
most probably would have had his liscence revoked and guns seized.

    Now ,
It is looking like he may never have qualified for a liscence in the first place , had correct procedures been carried out and completed.

If so , it makes for a pretty damning litany of combined failures.

With everything that's been happening around the world ,
even as close as Australia ,
over the last twenty years ,
the old kiwi attitude of she'll be right ,
and don't worry they're just a bunch of misfits ,
should have been eliminated from safety and security type dealings long ago.

This is the actions of a strong leader.

Yes it was a blunder that these new laws weren't enacted years ago, but seriously who would have thought that the peaceful New Zealand would of ever been exposed to the horror we saw last Friday.

There's many leaders around the world that need to show the same bottle and compassion that PM Jacinda Ardern has shown this last week.

All praise to this great politician.

The thing is , we had already had a massacre in 1990 , at Aramoana
(13 killed) , so were never immune ,
      And ,
Suddenly there had been a flood of ak47 types guns .
So there was both warnings and reasons to act ,
      including Port Auther.
      PLUS
we were part of the Aussie gathering/meeting which led to your crackdown ,
and your states and central government took action ,
      while ours , inexplicably ,
      shyed away.

The simple fact is , there was and is no reason , or nescessity for them in private hands in this country ,
and our governments failed us miserably ,
at a horrendous cost it has turned out.

      69magpie,

I think you mean that in New Zealand gun lovers will need to jump through smaller hoops that are higher off of the ground, but I get your meaning.

Guns don't guarantee freedom, you dope.

The citizens of New Zealand are amongst the happiest in the world.

    No really; it's true.

    Top 10:
    1. Finland
    2. Denmark
    3. Norway
    4. Iceland
    5. Netherlands
    6. Switzerland
    7. Sweden
    8. New Zealand
    9. Canada
    10. Austria
Seven of my dad's 11 brothers moved to NZ, some then went on to Aus, way back when it was easier for members of the Commonwealth to emigrate within itself. One of them visited, fell in love with that bewitching island nation, and never looked back. The others followed, and did the same.

I don't blame them. NZ is wonderful.

First, I just want to thank you for your efforts on this thread. Your updates and insights are really informative.

But also the New Zealand ban on assault weapons is creating kind of a What The Fuck wave over here in the US because New Zealand makes it look so easy. It is making people over here in the US stop and think if New Zealand can ban assault weapons in a week why can't we?

The momentum for gun control over here was already building and the way New Zealand responded to this massacre is giving gun control a big push.

      Well , I'm following it .
      You can't avoid it.
So I wanted to inform any who are interested.
If it had no interest , it could fade away. A little interest , then it can live , and not be tarnished by bullshit and incorrect or fake news , or farcebook.

And if it happens to help provoke some thought ,
      and maybe some discission ,
      all good.

    and available to families

    16 buried yesterday I think
and there will be just ongoing , side by side and back to back burials today.
    Friday.
    1 week on

A school head rang around likely affected parents on Sunday , about schools reopeninyg Monday morning and things

Many Muslim mums were afraid to come out to bring their children to school .
A few said they might have to take off their head scarves , if they came out.

Head rang around some more mums

    Upshot ,
other mums rang Muslim mums and said we will walk with you
and please don't take your scarves off .

We will wear scarves with you

    and they did

We are so lucky in NZ
    guns are not a freedom
    or any part of it
    for civilians
owning them is a privaledge we have to earm and qualify for.
mechine guns are not a necessity for anything
    in any way.
98% of us DON'T own any guns.
    we DON'T need any guns
we have no use for them
soon we will be a little safer
soon it will be a little easier to keep us safe

The destruction of thousands of machine guns
will only make NZ a better place.

    bring it on

Hundreds of guns have already been handed in.

As I figured , many will not be bothered by the buy back.
There would have been a lot more , I'm sure , but the police had to give a warning , and make a plea.

Pleas do not just turn up with guns to hand in.
    Ring and make arrangements
(when to bring them in or have them collected)

Obviously in the heightened state of alert ,
with armed police on the lookout all over the country ,
they don't want anyone just wandering in with a mechine gun.
So most will be waiting until there is organised dropoff points.

Of course those are all the easy ones to get rid of.
But still they could end up in the wrong hands , one day.

The difficult ones are the reason a buy back has to be.
Then once it is over ,
there is no excuse for possession.

Think all local burials (42) were completed yesterday , Friday.
Not known how many are being repatriated , is the reason we can't be sure.

Sadly they had one extra casualty to bury , who was killed in a car accident on the way to help.

A great relief for all , families , friends ,
    and the whole comunity.

Now they can get on with grieving , and begin the recovery process in time.

There were still about 25 in Chch hospital.
5 still critical , fighting for their lives ,
and the young girl in Auckland Starship children's , in critical.

A couple of extraordinary days in NZ ,
    yesterday and today.
Extraordinary shows of support , unity , and forgiveness
    country wide , literally.

    Extra security measures to.
Access roads to big events blocked or restricted by busses , or huge blocks of comcrete etc.
Normally unarmed police , everywhere , fully armed .

5,000 people evacuated from a very well organiser and protected concert in Wellington last night ,
    as a safety precaution.

Police will remain armed on the streets , at full alert , for at least the next month.

We have a long way to go ,
and we've learened some serious lessons ,
and of some serious problems within our society ,
which the vast majority of us either didn't know about ,
or thought they were just isolated incidents or groups , of no real threat.

    Well we know better now.

It must not be allowed that we return to that.
    I don't believe we will.
I hope that this will not be a short lived awareness ,
    with only temporary improvements.
I doubt we will allow or tolerate that.

I'll be doing my best to ensure not.

I read yesterday that the scumbag has been moved to NZ's specialty maximum security prison in Auckland.

He's in isolation and being watched around the clock by guards and CCTV.

With no access to the outside world......NO TV, NO radio, NO newspapers and NO approved visitors.

Rotting in hell with only his miserable thoughts to keep him company.

I hadn't heard all the details , but yes , that's where he is.
It is our toughest , and if he puts a foot wrong , it'll just get tougher.

If he gets out amongst the general prison population , he may not even make it to trial.

Alone , with no access to anything or anyone ,
      is just fine ,
for the rest of his miserable existence.

May his only relief be turning into compost.

My only concern is , that he may get more exposure during any trial , than he will ever deserve.

The scumbag is an Australian, also he didn't migrate to NZ, though he was a regular visitor.

Migration had nothing to do with the tragedy, what it was, was the rise and rise of white supremacy groups that refuse to integrate with the rest of society.
