Russian President Vladimir Putin attends the all-Russian municipal forum in the town of Odintsovo in Moscow region

(Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin, running for a new six-year term in an election that his opponents say is a parody of democracy, said on Tuesday that past U.S. elections had been rigged by postal voting.

"In the United States, previous elections were falsified through postal voting ... they bought ballots for $10, filled them out, and threw them into mailboxes without any supervision from observers, and that's it," Putin said, without providing evidence.

Putin's opponents say the March election in Russia is no real contest as the president wields unchallenged power and his main rival, Alexei Navalny, is serving more than 30 years in jail on charges that Navalny says were trumped up.

They say the use of electronic voting creates scope for authorities to manipulate the vote in Putin's favour without detection.

This is why Speaker Johnson says there can be no border deal until Trump is president again. The last thing treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans want is to do anything that might actually help solve the immigration problems. They just want to bitch about it for political gain. But Trump and Johnson have bigger plans. Give Ukraine to Putin.

Backlash for ‘Pro-Putin’ Johnson After Admitting ‘Frequent’ Talks With Trump on Border Bill

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson quickly became a target overnight after admitting to Fox News that not only has he has been talking about border legislation “pretty frequently” to ex-president Donald Trump, who adamantly opposes the bipartisan Senate border bill that would also deliver critical and overdue aid to Ukraine and Israel, but he agrees with him, despite trying to make the border the number one issue in the country.

“The president actually just got off the phone with me right before the show,” Fox News host Laura Ingraham, referring to ex-president Donald Trump, told Speaker Johnson Wednesday night, “And he said he has spoken to you about this deal and that he is against it. And he urged you to be against this deal. He was extremely – President Trump was extremely adamant about that. Your reaction to that, given the fact that, look, he already he knows how to do this enforcement stuff. You don’t need some new bill coming out of the Senate to get the border enforced.”

“Yeah,” the Speaker replied. “President Trump is not wrong. He and I’ve been talking about this pretty frequently. I talked to him night before last about the same subject. We don’t have the text of whatever the Senate has cooked up yet and so we have to reserve judgment, I think to see what comes out of it.”

Thursday morning via X, Ingraham added, “This is ludicrous. Biden already has all the executive authority he needs to shut down the border invasion.” Johnson similarly has repeatedly insisted President Biden effectively do an end-run around Congress via executive orders.

Overnight, Donald Trump on his social media platform attacked the Senate border deal, which is supported by both Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“I do not think we should do a Border Deal, at all, unless we get EVERYTHING needed to shut down the INVASION of Millions & Millions of people, many from parts unknown, into our once great, but soon to be great again, Country!” Trump declared. Experts say using the term “invasion,” especially against people seeking asylum, is “racist and dangerous.”

“Also,” Trump added, confirming Johnson’s remarks, “I have no doubt that our wonderful Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, will only make a deal that is PERFECT ON THE BORDER. Remember, without Strong Borders and Honest Elections, we don’t have a Country!!!”

Also Thursday morning, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on “Morning Joe” slammed Johnson.

“You’ve got the Senate Republicans, Senate Democrats, the White House, all agreeing on a tough border deal. All agreeing to aid Israel. All agreeing to aid Ukraine, and you’ve got Mike Johnson, and some radicals that are in the House,” Scarborough said before blasting the Speaker.

“With Mike Johnson you’ve got a guy who’s constantly on the issue of funding Ukraine been pro-Vladimir Putin. So you’ve got a pro-Putin Speaker, who has voted no on all Ukrainian aid, a pro-Putin speaker who now is killing a bill that’s the toughest border security bill ever, and I’m just asking why.”

“Is it because he’s pro Putin? Is it because he’s afraid Ukraine is going to get aid aid that he’s voted against time and time again, if he had his way Vladimir Putin would already have Kyiv, because he’s voted against all funding to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression. And so now he’s also killing a bill that would stop what’s happening on the southern border. The chaos on the southern border and you can get to ask why. If you’ve got Republicans saying this is the toughest bill ever, and we will never get a tougher bill on border security Mike Johnson is still killing it.”

“Doesn’t seem like it’s about the border,” Scarborough added. “Maybe it’s about letting Vladimir Putin take all of Ukraine. That’s gonna be a hell of a campaign ad. Coming come this fall: House Republicans helped Vladimir Putin conquer Ukraine.”

Trump company merger prompts $23 million insider trading probe of Russia-linked bank owner

An insider trading investigation involving a merger between a Miami-based company Digital World Acquisition Corporation (DWAC) group and Trump Media & Technology Group Corp (TMTG) has exposed the nearly $23 million windfall pocketed by Russian-American businessman Anton Postolnikov, according to The Miami Herald.

Postolnikov owns a Caribbean bank servicing the porn industry and loaned $8 million to Trump's media company which is the parent of Truth Social, according to several news reports.

The Russian American owns homes on the exclusive Fisher Island and is the
nephew of a former high-ranking Russian government official who served under Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the outlet.

Also read: Trump is making his donors travel to him for fundraisers: report

Allegations of insider trading came to light in court documents filed in Manhattan's federal court as part of a securities fraud case charging three South Florida men, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) release.

They are Michael Shvartsman, 52, of Sunny Isles Beach; Gerald Shvartsman, 46, of Aventura; and Bruce Garelick, 54, of Fort Lauderdale and Rocket One Capital LLC.

So far, Postolnikov, 41, has not been charged with any wrongdoing. However, The Herald reported that more charges could be coming based on recent filings in the case.

Though, it remains unclear if Postolnikov would be added as a defendant in the case.

But his name has surfaced in FBI search warrant applications filed in the insider trading case showing that agents were probing his relationship with the three defendants and closely looking at his trades before and after the October 2021 merger, according to the SEC.

Former President Donald Trump is the chairman of TMTG and he remains the leading candidate to claim the GOP presidential nomination. He has also not been suspected of any foul play related to this case.

In an April 2023 financial disclosure, The Herald reported that Trump confirmed he owns 90% of the company and estimated its worth to be between $5 million and $25 million.

Last year, DWAC agreed to settle for $18 million with the SEC should the merger happen, and admitted to fraudulently misleading investors about its merger plans with Trump Media.

Top Putin ally says a 'destructive civil confrontation' could happen in the US over Texas border standoff

    • leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom">Dmitry Medvedev taunted the Biden administration over the escalating Texas border standoff.

    • He predicted a "destructive civil confrontation" and suggested Texas could become a separate country.

    • The border standoff has catapulted debates about how to handle migration into the spotlight.
A former Russian president and ally of Vladimir Putin taunted the Biden administration over the Texas border crisis and suggested a "destructive civil confrontation" in the US could be coming.

Dmitry Medvedev criticized "senile old man Biden" for the high numbers of migrants trying to cross into the US at the southern border in a post on X on Friday.

The dispute between Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the federal government has been escalating over the state's use of razor wire to deter migrants.

Medvedev said that the possibility of establishing a "People's Republic of Texas" is getting "more and more real," days after Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested a "national divorce" between blue and red states over the issue of migration.

"This is yet another vivid example of the US hegemony getting weaker, a process that is happening from the inside, and is the result of the Americans' own actions," Medvedev wrote.

The US has been one of Ukraine's strongest international allies since Russia invaded, which has strained relations between the US and Russia.

Despite his past as a pro-West reformer, Medvedev has become one of the fiercest defenders of the war in Ukraine.

He criticized the US for its "blind" support of Ukraine and jabbed at the government, describing the border crisis as "an attack of the Great Loser's bad disease."

The standoff at the border has been intensifying as Abbott has remained defiant after a Supreme Court ruling that said US Border Patrol agents could remove the razor wire put up by the Texas National Guard.

There is a Texas secession movement, dubbed Texit, whose de facto leader recently told Newsweek that he believes Texas could become an independent nation within three decades.

Some on social media joked that Putin had "signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Texas People's Republic."

The border standoff has catapulted debates about how to handle migration into the spotlight, with Republicans criticizing the Biden administration for high numbers of migrants.

Migration levels are reaching record levels, with US officials saying around 300,000 people tried to cross the border in December.

The dispute has inflamed loose talk of civil war and resistance from conservative media and US politicians, according to The Washington Post.

Former President Donald Trump has made stoking concerns over immigration a central plank of his campaign for his second Republican nomination for president.

Trump has often spoken of his close relationship with Putin. He continued to praise the Russian leader for being "smart" and "genius" even after he began his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

Putin's 'long term investment' in Trump is about to pay off: Financial Times columnist

Gideon Rachman, the chief foreign affairs columnist for the Financial Times, has penned a withering column claiming that a second Trump term will make Russian President Vladimir Putin's dreams come true.

Even though Trump has not yet won a second term in office, writes Rachman, he has already inspired Republicans in Congress to block further military aid to Ukraine, which is deeply hurting its ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.

In particular, Rachman takes a critical eye toward Trump's decision to sabotage a bipartisan deal that delivered funding for Ukraine, Israel, and that made significant changes to America's immigration laws.

All of this, he argues, is part of Trump's calculation that he can retake the White House by denying Biden any wins.

READ MORE: Can you deprogram your Trump cultist friends and family?

"If the freedom of Ukraine and the security of Europe are collateral damage in Trump’s bid to win back the White House, the former president seems to regard that as a price worth paying," he writes.

Rachman also argues that Russian President Vladimir Putin made a "long-term investment" in Trump when he interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the goal of propelling him to the White House in hopes that he would cause ruptures among allied Western nations.

"Putin has made a long-term bet on Trump," he concludes. "Unless there is a last-minute change of heart in Congress, that wager may finally pay out — on the battlefields of Ukraine."

Well, the first lie is that the bill at issue "makes significant changes to America's immigration laws."
The bill is poorly labeled. It is little more than brandon's latest pork bill and it has a scant chance of passing.

'Music to Putin's ears': Experts fact check Trump's rally lies and missteps

Donald Trump had a rally in South Carolina on Saturday at which he purportedly lied, misspoke, and promised dangerous policies favoring Russia.

The former president in one instance at the rally said, "One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, Well, sir, if we don't pay and we're attacked by Russia, will you protect us? I said... No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want."

That didn't sit well with Trump's own former aide, Alyssa Farah Griffin.

ALSO READ: Alina Habba is persona non grata at her Pennsylvania law school

"Trump says he would defy Article 5 of NATO. This is music to Putin’s ears," she posted in response Saturday.

Sean Casten (D-IL), an elected official, also had an issue with that statement.

"A convicted tax dodger asserts that you should not be entitled to the protection of the state if you don't pay your fair share," he wrote on Saturday. "That's not the case. But for a guy who sponges a lot of resources off the state that's a hell of a thing to believe."

Trump was also criticized for his comments regarding his handling of documents considered classified.

"Your Honor, the prosecution rests," a Democratic strategist wrote on social media Saturday. Trump had claimed that he was "president all the time" so the documents at Mar-a-Lago were secure and unseen.

Legal analyst Allison Gill responded to that section of Trump's speech with a simple expletive: "Holy sh-t," she wrote Saturday.

Trump also said, "We have to run the whole East Coast like I did twice. I did twice. I did better the second time, But we have to run the East Coast."

Democratic strategist Sawyer Hackett Saturday said, "Trump lost every state on the east coast except his home state and the Carolinas."

Now first of all Trump was lying. And how do we know? Trump used his tell "sir." Many reporters and especially the mental health experts have documented when Trump says someone came to him and said "sir" what follows is a lie. Its been documented multiple times and its a psychological "tell" that slips out.

But even so its an incredibly and dangerous lie. Its something that sends shock waves through out allies and at the same time is a prize for our enemies and adversaries. And that would be true on just any given day. But with the war in Ukraine it carries death and destruction right now. It endangers our National Security and puts our nation at risk,

Former President leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom" data-wf-reset-every="90">Donald Trump is drawing international criticism for his comments on Saturday about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Here’s what he said and why it’s making U.S allies nervous.

    Trump’s NATO comments
While speaking at a rally in Conway, S.C., on Saturday night, Trump suggested the U.S. shouldn’t help NATO allies that don’t contribute enough to defense spending from a potential Russian attack.

Trump claimed that during his presidency he spoke with the president of "a big country" and said he would "encourage" Russia to do whatever it wants to NATO allies that don’t pull their weight.

"You didn’t pay? You’re delinquent?" Trump recalled saying to the unnamed NATO ally. "No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay. You gotta pay your bills."

There aren’t any membership fees for those in NATO. However, NATO nations have agreed to spend at least 2% of national GDP on defense, and many of them do not.

    ️Why it matters
The head of NATO’s military alliance and the White House argue that Trump’s comments about NATO are a threat to the security of the alliance.

“Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the U.S., and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a written statement.

The White House also issued a statement on Saturday in response to Trump’s comments. “Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged — and it endangers American national security, global stability and our economy at home,” said White House spokesperson Andrew Bates.

The comments have added to uncertainty about what Trump might do if he’s elected to the White House in November. During his presidency, he expressed that he thought NATO allies take advantage of U.S. strength without giving anything in return, and while campaigning in 2016 he threatened to pull out of the NATO alliance if elected.

    What NATO is
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was founded in 1949 by 12 countries, including the United States, to counter the Soviet Union amid rising Cold War tensions.

“NATO’s purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means,” according to the NATO website.

One of the most notable parts of the founding treaty is Article 5, known as its mutual defense clause, which means all allies commit to help any member who comes under attack.

In a reassurance to NATO allies, White House national security spokesman John Kirby reiterated President Biden’s serious commitment to Article 5 during Monday’s White House Press briefing. “We will defend, if needed, every inch of NATO territory. That’s what the commander in chief of the United States ought to be saying when it comes to NATO,” Kirby said.

Article 5 has only been activated once, which was by the United States following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

    NATO member countries
NATO currently has 31 member countries, including the United States, Canada and European nations. The newest NATO member is Finland, which joined in April 2023 after Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Sweden is waiting for its membership to be approved.

    NATO defense contributions by country
NATO allies are committed to spend at least 2% of their Gross Domestic Product on defense in order to ensure their military readiness. The goal is voluntary, and there is no debt or “delinquency” indicated, despite what Trump stated in his comments.

According to official NATO estimates for 2023, Poland, the United States and Greece are the top three defense spending contributors, exceeding the 2% GDP target. A number of NATO nations near Russia, such as Finland and Poland, are also exceeding those targets amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Most NATO allies, however, fall well short of the benchmark. Some of the members that spend below the 2% goal on defense include France, Germany and Canada. It's also notable that Iceland, a founding NATO member, doesn’t have any armed forces, which is why it doesn't appear on the graph below.

Now that is really funny. One of the most laughably attempts to bully reality I've seen in a long time. What does it really say when someone trying to defend Traitor Trump trots out a laughable lie that was exposed and debunked over a decade ago? Just how panicked and desperate is that?

And with good reason. Trump has become Putin's spokesman. We can easily expose this with a very simple question no treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans will answer. Should the US stop supporting Ukraine and let it fall to Putin?

Trump doubles down on war with NATO — and thinks Ukraine is already a member

Republicans and Democrats came together over the weekend to attack former President Donald Trump for his comments that he'd encourage a war with a NATO ally. The United States is in NATO, the group that links together Europe and the United States in the event of a war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has long attacked NATO and sought to undermine it. Trump appears to believe that every country must pay an equal share, but that isn't the way that it works. Funds given to NATO from nations are calculated using a cost-share formula that Trump doesn't appear to fully comprehend. The money isn't sent as a check directly to NATO as he believes.

"No, I would not protect you. In fact I would encourage them (Russia) to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay," Trump said he told one unnamed leader asking if he'd fight against NATO.

After the criticism, Trump took to his personal social media site to claim that people on the left and the "RINOs," which are Republicans in Name Only, supported his attacks on NATO.

He conflated his cash shakedown with the promise to support a Russian war against Europe.

"When I told the 20 Countries that weren’t paying their fair share that they had to PAY UP, and said without doing that you will not have U.S. Military Protection, the money came rolling in," Trump posted, throwing in all-capital letters randomly. "After so many years of the United States picking up the tab, it was a beautiful sight to see. But now, without me there to say YOU MUST PAY, they are at it again."

Trump then appeared to think that Ukraine is part of NATO, which it is not yet.

"We are into helping Ukraine for more than 100 Billion Dollars more than NATO. We have nobody that they respect, and they insist on paying far less than we do. Wrong, NATO HAS TO EQUALIZE, AND NOW. THEY WILL DO THAT IF PROPERLY ASKED. IF NOT, AMERICA FIRST! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"

While NATO has come out against the Russian invasion, Ukraine isn't a member yet.

"NATO Allies agreed at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Ukraine will become a member of NATO, noting that its next step would be to submit an application to the Membership Action Plan (MAP), a NATO programme covering political, economic, defence, resource, security and legal reforms of aspirant countries," the NATO website explains. "At the 2023 Vilnius Summit, Allies reaffirmed that Ukraine will become a member of NATO when Allies agree and when conditions are met. They removed the requirement for Ukraine to pursue a MAP, which will change Ukraine’s membership path from a two-step process to a one-step process."

In response to Trump's comments at the rally, former Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) told "Meet the Press" it "is why I've been saying for a long time that he's unfit to be president of the United States."

The White House called them "appalling and unhinged."

Mike Johnson Urges Calm After Republican Discloses Mysterious 'National Security Threat'

WASHINGTON ― House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) delivered a prepared statement Wednesday aimed at reassuring Americans about a vague national security threat.

House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio) earlier on Wednesday publicly asked President Joe Biden to declassify information relating to a “serious national security threat.”

Amid growing speculation about the threat, Johnson arranged a press gaggle in the Capitol to announce that he and other Hill leaders would meet Biden at the White House on Thursday to discuss the matter.

“I saw Chairman Turner’s statement on the issue and I want to assure the American people there’s no need for public alarm,” Johnson said.

“We are going to work together to address this matter, as we do all sensitive matters that are classified,” he continued. “And beyond that, I’m not at liberty to disclose classified information and really can’t say much, but we just want to assure everyone steady hands are at the wheel. We’re working on it and there’s no need for alarm.”

Johnson didn’t take questions. Turner also refused to talk to reporters.

The speaker’s reassurance about “steady hands” leading the country was notable. Earlier on Wednesday, in reference to the Justice Department’s special counsel investigation into the president’s mishandling of classified material ― which described Biden as elderly and forgetful ― Johnson said the president was incompetent.

“A man too incapable of being held accountable for mishandling classified information is certainly unfit for the oval office,” Johnson said.

Turner has been pushing for a reauthorization of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, which gives intelligence agencies broad powers to spy on foreigners without a warrant. The law has been controversial among some Republicans and Democrats concerned about privacy.

Rep. leaving the page." data-wf-tooltip-position="bottom" data-wf-reset-every="90">Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) suggested on social media that Turner’s mysterious threat was a stunt to convince lawmakers to support the reauthorization. The House had been scheduled to vote on Turner’s bill this week, but Johnson’s office announced Wednesday afternoon the vote had been postponed.

“Bizarre timing considering we are trying to end warrantless government surveillance this week,” Biggs said.

ABCNews reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources, that the threat has something to do with Russia putting a nuclear weapon in space in order to destroy satellites.

At the White House, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said he was “surprised” Turner had disclosed the threat, adding that they had already scheduled the White House meeting where he would talk with lawmakers on Thursday.

Other lawmakers with access to intelligence put out statements that did not explain the danger. Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), the top Democrat on the House intelligence committee, said the threat “is a significant one, but it is not a cause for panic.”

Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the chairman and top Republican on the Senate intelligence committee, also said they knew about the threat, have been tracking it “from the start,” and “continue to take this matter seriously” while discussing “an appropriate response” with the Biden administration.

“In the meantime, we must be cautious about potentially disclosing sources and methods that may be key to preserving a range of options for U.S. action,” the senators said.

When the government is making secret even things that are apparently a danger to Americans, we know that the government is off the leash and doing whatever it wants in the name of "we know what's good for you".
Well, they don't, and it won't be tolerated.

Donald Trump Jr. weaved a conspiracy theory to challenge talk about a “serious national security threat” after a top House Republican issued a call to address the threat Wednesday.

The former president’s son took to social media after House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner (R-Ohio) called on President Joe Biden to declassify information related to the threat, which sources told ABC News is related to Russia putting a nuclear weapon in space.

“Does anyone really believe that there is a serious Russian threat that magically leaks about 30 seconds after the Speaker said they’re not going to take up funding another $60 billion in Ukraine?” wrote Trump Jr. of House speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who said he isn’t planning on putting the aid package that includes Ukraine on the House floor.

“Is anyone stupid enough to buy this at this point? Textbook deep state propaganda!”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), in response to Trump Jr.’s post, wrote, “Funny thing, ain’t it?

Critics on X criticized both Trump Jr. and Boebert for entertaining a “deep state” conspiracy theory, including Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch Network:
