The country has a huge debt. People can't afford to have babies.

And yet, Japan is a cool country, the Japanese are quite hot and they do tons of porn.

I'm not Japanese, but from what I've read it's a combination of cultural issues and economic factors. Japanese women have to choose between a career or a family, they can't have both. Cultural expectations are that a woman can have a job but should quit once she gets married. She doesn't chase after men. And she doesn't just support her immediate family (husband and children), but is expected to help with her husbands parents as well. The realities of the modern world are such that many women are choosing to not get married and focus on a career, to ensure their own economic independence. A man is no longer the only thing a woman can rely on.

Many young people in Japan aren't looking for full-time careers, they instead take part time jobs (often more than one) and live with their parents long after they "should" have moved out. And parents are unwilling to force their children out.

From an economic standpoint, Japan seemed ready to take over the world in the 1980's, but suffered a massive economic depression in the 90's and still to this day has yet to recover. One can argue that the business culture of Japan doesn't work. People were literally working themselves to death.

So why the low sex though? Some men stay at home, play video games, watch pornography, and end up marrying their body pillows. Many just aren't interested in sex, at all. Literally uninterested. They have no desire to create a family or even enjoy the feeling of another living body.

I'm not Japanese so I can't really say for certain, but it's interesting to read about.

I suppose it could be summed up as Japanese people no longer wanting to have sex, for many reasons.

Simple reality; they have 2.8% unemployed and want to employ foreigners instead of japanese and so import moslems to employ them instead.

 

I have found the Japanese culture very difficult to understand at a personal level and I have spent quite a bit of time in Japan both working and vacationing. I know a number of Japanese woman who have good careers and have children. Among my Japanese friends two incomes are as necessary there as they are here. The work culture in Japan is quite different in Japan than it is here (in the USA) but what it has in common is the length of the work day. There is a dedication to the employer in Japan I have never found in the USA. Sorry I'm not making any sense. Maybe some other time!
