This is some bad press for guns. So the Republicans in congress really need to get moving on the bill the NRA wants to legalize silencers for guns. Because you know some liberal might point out that a lot more people might have been shot if they could not hear where the shots were coming from.

One witness at the concert told DailyMail.com that a woman had entered the crowd with a male companion and screamed 'They're all around... You're all going to f***ing die today' just 45 minutes before the gunfire broke out.

The woman was described as being Hispanic and in her 50s; she and the man were escorted out of the venue by security.
Witness Breanna Hendricks, who was in Vegas celebrating her 21st birthday, said: 'There was a lady who came running up behind us in the concert and she started to play with people's hair acting crazy and she told us that we're all going to f***ing die.

'She said they're all around us and we were going to die,' continued Hendricks, whose mom Shawn Hendricks also witnessed the startling altercation.

'She was Hispanic, probably about 5ft 5, brown hair. It felt like she had knowledge of what was about to happen, her and her boyfriend who was also Hispanic.

'The woman was saying her boyfriend couldn't breathe so they could get through the crowd.
'It seemed she was telling us to either warn us or she was part of it and she was telling us because she knew we were going to die, it was so scary.'

I am waiting for gun rights supporters to say that if the 22,000 fans at the concert had been carrying guns, they could have all shot at the hotel room where Paddock was and killed him before he got so many rounds off. I am surprised no one has yet said so.

 

I suppose comfort can be gained from the fact that tanks and requisite ammunition are not easy to buy in Nevada ....may the relatives of the dead and maimed be comforted by their belief systems !!

 

While I do have sympathy for the victims of this terrible tragedy and don't believe anyone deserves to get shot no matter what their political ideology might be she does at leaast have one point and we can see it right here on this thread. It is after all the Republicans and the NRA that consistently blocks any and all attempts at gun control no matter how common sense they are and supported by a majority of the country including in some cases even the majority of Republicans and NRA members.

And we need to look no further than the NRA/Republican attempts to legalize silencers for guns right now.

I also haven't seen a great deal of sincere sympathy expressed by the conservative/Republican/Tea Party/White Supremacists Trump supporters anywhere else or even on this thread. In fact some of them are even posting jokes on the GUN RIGHTS thread right now because they think it is funny So while no one deserves to get shot they do kind of at least bring some criticism like this on themselves.

But right now what I want to know more than anything else is not where this guy got his guns. They are everywhere including the black market and anybody can get their hands on guns anytime they want to. What I want to know is what kind of guns did he use?

In every instance before when the press has reported that the shooter used "automatic weapons" it is just because they are so ignorant about guns they don't specify "semi-automatic weapons" even though to people who do know about guns the difference between "semi automatic" and "automatic" is huge and a very important distinction. Semi automatic weapons that require a trigger pull to fire each shot are sold to anyone who wants one. And even though you can buy a 1oo round drum that allows you to fire very rapidly without having to reload they are still nothing like a fully automatic weapon (basically a machine gun) which just require pulling the trigger once and it will continue to fire until you let go of the trigger. But as far as I know we have never had a mass shooting with a fully automatic weapon because even though they are legal they are very heavily regulated and expensive and they are not sold to just anyone who walks in off the street.

But in this instance from everything that is being reported and from what I am hearing myself on videos this shooter does appear to have been using a fully automatic weapon(s).

So where did he get it (them)?

Did he legally buy them? Maybe but if he did his name photo address and everything else about him would have been all ATF and FBI records And he would have been one of the relative few people in the country to have a machine gun. So he would have been known.

Did he buy fully automatic weapons illegally on the black market? That's another very distinct possibility because they are out there. But damn you would have to be very well connected to people in organized crime, terrorist groups, and or military gun running to even know where to begin looking. And you would need a lot of money.

So it would seem that a more logical possibility is he bought semi automatic weapons and had them converted to fully automatic himself. But even that is no small task. It is actually a nearly next to impossible task to take a commercial semi automatic and convert it to military grade fully automatic. It would take a machine shop and an incredible amount of expertise to be able to do that. Which makes me doubt that is the case.

That leaves at least one more possibility. Which is the weapons were actually just commercial semi automatics with an attachment called a "bump stock" that fits on the butt of the rifle and allows the recoil of the rifle to be used to actually pull the trigger each time. It doesn't change the fact that the trigger still has to be pulled each time for each shot. But because it makes it possible for the recoil to be used to accomplish that it is much faster than human reactions and can be shot just about as fast as a fully automatic machine gun.

I will be watching closely to see which of these it turns out to be because the one thing for sure is we have reached another new milestone in mass shootings and it won't be long before we see it again. It never is.

There is not a doubt in my mind that at this moment as we speak there are not a lot of wanna be copy cats watching the wall to wall news coverage thinking; "Damn, I want to be famous too." And planning their attacks.

 

There is a lot we do not know yet. Much too soon to speculate...

I just read a report of what the police found in his hotel room. I have been hearing stuff from the likes of @shadow walker and similar conspiracy nuts about how Paddock didn't do this by himself. (Kind of like Oswald and the JFK assassination.)

Well, the police found 19 rifles in his hotel room. Two were mounted on tripods in front of the two windows that Paddock had blown out. At least hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found so far.

How does a hotel guest in Las Vegas, with the huge amount of security cameras in those big hotel-casinos, check in and carry 19 rifles, 2 tripods, and a thousand or two rounds of ammo up to his room? WTF???? Did he have help??? Did anyone know or suspect? How can a person HIDE all that military equipment??? How can a person conceal the preparation for a shooting of that magnitude????

I am now skeptical of the very fast police conclusion that Paddock acted alone! I am frightening myself at how I sound!

 

I already sold out at both the gun shops I own. Oddly enough not one sold until the Democrats started running their mouths about how gun control would have prevented this.
