Makes Absolutely No Sense’: FBI Director Clashes With Ron Johnson Over Bias, Reminds Senator He’s a ‘Lifelong Republican’
    Alex GriffingOct 31st, 2023, 4:11 pm

FBI Director Christopher Wray lit into Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) during a Senate hearing on Tuesday after Johnson accused the FBI of partisanship.

Wary pushed back on Johnson, saying, “I see an FBI every day that conducts themselves with integrity and professionalism and selflessness and rigor. And I do not accept the characterization of our performance in this particular case.”

“That’s not how I characterized it. I’m talking about partisanship at the top,” interjected Johnson, raising his voice.

“May I finish up?” Wray asked of the chairman.

“With some specific partisan actors. I said the vast majority of the 38,000 are people of integrity,” Johnson added, insisting he did not mean to attack the entire FBI as partisan.

“And the idea that I, as a Republican appointee and a lifelong Republican is biased in the way that you are describing makes absolutely no sense,” Wray shot back.

“I’m happy to read you chapter and verse of all the reasons why that credibility has been destroyed,” Johnson, who has been known to push conspiracy theories, shot back.

Wray appeared before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Tuesday to discuss national security threats to the U.S.

“Protecting Americans from the threat of terrorism is and remains our number one priority. But as you all know, the range of threats we battle each and every day is enormous. From cyber attacks, to economic espionage, to violent crime and narcotics trafficking—and everything in between. And none of the problems we tackle are getting any easier,” Wray said in his opening statement, adding:

But we’ve continued to work to outpace our adversaries by disrupting over 40% more cyber operations last year and arresting over 60% more cyber criminals than the year before. We’re aggressively working to protect America’s economic security from China’s relentless efforts to steal our innovation and intellectual property, with around 2,000 active investigations across all 56 FBI field offices.

And over the past two years, we’ve seized enough fentanyl to kill 270 million people—that’s more than 80% of Americans. I’m incredibly proud of the FBI’s 38,000 skilled and dedicated employees who tackle these complex challenges to protect their fellow Americans.

Johnson has long criticized the FBI over its handling of investigations into President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

What a great example of the US to the world. Between things getting physical in the House and a ear brawl in the Senate I fully expect to see treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans fist fighting in the Capitol just like we see somethings in third world banana republic shit hole countries. Which is the level they are trying to drag us down to.

One thing is clear though. The pressure is getting to them.

Bernie Sanders breaks up near ‘literal brawl’ as GOP senator moves to fight witness

Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) reportedly stepped in to stop a "literal brawl" during a Senate hearing Tuesday.

At a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee meeting, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) read a tweet from Teamster Sean O'Brien. The social media post suggested O'Brien was ready to fight the senator.

"Sir, this is a time, this is a place," Mullin said. "If you want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults, we can finish it here."

    "Perfect," O'Brien replied.

"You want to do it now?" Mullin challenged.

"I'd love to do it right now," O'Brien insisted.

"Well, stand your butt up then," the senator said.

"You stand your butt up," O'Brien shot back.

At that point, Mullin stood up and prepared to fight O'Brien before Sanders spoke up.

"Oh, hold it," Sanders remarked. "Is that your solution? No, no, sit down. Sit down. You're a United States Senator. Act like it."

Bloomberg's Ian Kullgren described the incident as a near "literal brawl."

"This is the most insane thing I have ever seen on Capitol Hill," he wrote on X.

'That doesn't make me racist': GOPer rants about George Soros at anti-Semitism hearing

Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) ranted to a group of Jewish witnesses about globalism and billionaire George Soros on Wednesday.

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing about free speech and anti-Semitism, Van Drew used his time to insist he could criticize Soros without being a racist.

"I am pro-Israel," Van Drew began. "Yet, I still believe that we shouldn't use these words to try to say, well, if you believe that George Soros is involved in our local elections, because he is, if you believe that he is funding prosecutors and local officials that have a different vision for America than most Americans do, he is, that doesn't make me racist."

He also ranted about a globalist conspiracy to take down the United States as a world power.

"I'm going to tell you what globalism is," he said. "You know, maybe there's some people who are bad people that use it. I was at an event recently, and I spoke, and this has happened to me numerous times, I talked about Americanism, American exceptionalism, and how we are the shining city on the hill. Damn it, I believe that."

Van Drew then polled the witnesses, which included a professor of Jewish studies, an official from the Anti-Defamation League, and several Jewish students.

"I don't find the question relevant to this hearing," one witness said.

"It is very relevant," Van Drew insisted.

There will be no Biden indictments. The judges Trump appointed will realize that there is no reason to indict Biden, just as there was no reason to doubt that he won his election with Trump honestly.

It must anger Trump to realize that people who owe their careers to him have too much integrity to let him get away with his unacceptable behavior.

GOPer accuses Hunter Biden of 'blocking' Comer's investigation by offering to testify

Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) accused Hunter Biden of "blocking" Rep. James Comer's (R-KY) impeachment investigation by offering to testify in public.

During an interview on Newsmax, Cline suggested that the offer was a plot to stall the probe.

"Well, this committee is trying to get the facts, get to the bottom of the corruption that was going on in the Biden family between Hunter Biden and the rest of the family and exactly follow the money to where it leads, and they're preparing a report to give to the Judiciary Committee," Kline explained. "The Democrats are stalling. They've essentially sent the message to Hunter Biden that we will protect you if it's in public and for show."

Kline claimed Biden would not "have to give any facts" if he testifies publicly.

"You won't have to give any information as you would in a deposition because in a deposition, it takes hours and hours and hours," he remarked. "You ask the little questions that won't be kind of interfered with by counsel for the other side, by members from the other side who just want to play for the cameras."

"So that's what this is all about," Kline added. "It's about blocking, continuing to block Chairman Comer and this House of Representatives from finding out the facts for the American people."

Republican quickly deletes post saying he's glad Hunter Biden wants a public hearing

A Republican official quickly deleted a social media post celebrating Hunter Biden's agreement to testify publicly.

The disappearance of the post followed Rep. James Comer (R-KY) lashing out at Biden's offer to testify to the House Oversight and Reform Committee — but only if the hearing was held in public.

It prompted Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) to kill his online comment quickly — but not before The Messenger's Stephen Neukam caught it.

Smith, who sits with Comer on Oversight, posted: "I welcome Hunter Biden finally agreeing to testify. It's long overdue for him to come clean in front of the American people."

But then he evidently saw Comer's attack on Biden, saying the meeting had to be behind closed doors.

Democrats on the committee have responded with swift attacks on Comer for his pushback to a public meeting. Two weeks ago, he even offered to testify alongside Biden in the hearing.

"Let me get this straight," Oversight Committee Ranking Member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) began in a statement. "After wailing and moaning for ten months about Hunter Biden and alluding to some vast unproven family conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full Committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions they pose?

"What an epic humiliation for our colleagues and what a frank confession that they are simply not interested in the facts and have no confidence in their own case or the ability of their own Members to pursue it."

He then referenced one hearing this fall, in which Comer claimed to have bombshell information, but then failed to deliver it. After that, Raskin pointed out, Comer hasn't even attended any public hearings.

"Chairman Comer has now apparently decided to avoid all Committee hearings where the public can actually see for itself the logical, rhetorical and factual contortions they have tied themselves up in. The evidence has shown time and again President Biden has committed no wrongdoing, much less an impeachable offense. Chairman Comer's insistence that Hunter Biden's interview should happen behind closed doors proves it once again. What the Republicans fear most is sunlight and the truth," said Raskin.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) pointed out that Republicans tend to distort what is said behind closed doors.

“If Chairman Comer [refuses] then he is explicitly acknowledging that Hunter Biden's testimony will expose this bogus ‘impeachment inquiry’ for the politically motivated, baseless sham that it is," Goldman said in a full statement.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) agreed: "Refusing to hold a public hearing allows the party in power to construct their own version of the 'truth.' If House Republicans have the 'smoking gun' they claim they have, why are they afraid to show it to the American people? What are they trying to hide?"

"After his first hearing disaster, where his own witness testified there wasn't evidence for impeachment, now Chair Comer is shaking in his boots at Hunter's offer to testify publicly. Why?" asked Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA). "Because he knows his innuendo and conspiracies don't hold up in the light of day."

The House Ways and Means Committee Democrats got behind the attacks as well, posting: "House Republicans want to doctor testimony, selectively leak, and manipulate the facts. More fact-free fallacies behind closed doors, but the American people deserve the truth," with a sunlight emoji.

In September, The Congressional Integrity Project faulted House Oversight Committee chairman Comer for "eight months of abject failure" to prove the president was guilty of wrongdoing related to his son, Hunter Biden, although polls show the effort had convinced 42 percent of Americans that he had acted illegally, reported The Guardian.

I have said this before. The stupid ignorance (two different things} of treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans makes them just sitting ducks for the progressive/liberal/Democrats. Just about every time one of them opens their mouth they get slaughtered. Just like this.

‘First True Thing’: Dem Lawmaker Claps James Comer’s Insult Right Back At Him
    Josephine Harvey
Updated Wed, November 29, 2023 at 6:02 AM MST·2 min read
    1.2k

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer’s (R-Ky.) petty name-calling earned a swift clapback from his target, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.).

During a Newsmax appearance on Tuesday, Comer argued that Hunter Biden should not be allowed to give public testimony before the Oversight Committee in its investigation of the Biden family because Democrats would be disruptive.

Comer said Republicans wanted to ask questions without interruptions from the likes of Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) and “little Moskowitz jumping up and down” — in an apparent swipe at the lawmaker’s height.

“Now the Chairman is calling me ‘Little Moskowitz,’” Moskowitz posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a clip from the interview. “This is the first true thing Comer has said all year, it’s been hard for me to grow.”

“But why is the Chairman scared of tiny, mini, itsy-bitsy Moskowitz,” the lawmaker added. ”And why is he scared of Hunter testifying, will Comer get caught lying?”

In a letter to Comer on Tuesday, Hunter Biden’s attorney said his client would be willing to testify at his father, Joe Biden’s impeachment inquiry, but only if he could do so publicly.

“We have seen you use closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public,” Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, wrote in the letter.

    Comer rejected the offer.

House Republicans have sought private depositions rather than public testimony in their investigation, which centers on their allegations that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s foreign business deals.

A public hearing in September generated embarrassing headlines for Republicans after their witnesses said there was insufficient evidence to impeach the president. A clip of Moskowitz pointing out Republicans’ failure to produce any proof went viral.

It’s not the first time Comer’s resorted to calling Moskowitz names. During a committee hearing clash earlier this month, Comer told his Democratic colleague, “You look like a Smurf.”

Dem flips tables on Jim Jordan for ignoring Trump's plans to weaponize government

Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) called out Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Thursday for ignoring Donald Trump's plans to use the federal government to exact revenge on his enemies if he becomes president again.

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the weaponization of the government, Plaskett opened by wondering why Chairman Jordan had turned a blind eye to Trump's threats.

Plaskett accused Republicans of wanting to "ramp up their own misinformation campaign before the 2024 election."

"They want to distract from the actual threat of the weaponization of government on the American people. That is Donald Trump," she explained. "He has vowed to use the Department of Justice to investigate his political enemies. He has said that those who oppose him should be executed for treason. He has called his political opponents cockroaches, vermin, said that immigrants are poisoning American society."

ALSO READ: Nazis bullied a conservative Tennessee town. Locals punched back. Trump should be worried.

She accused Trump of sounding like a dictator who took his talking points from Nazis.

"And every American should be outraged at this committee by not having hearings on that," Plaskett remarked. "Many want to shield a man who, as many experts have identified, is spouting rhetoric cribbed from the Nazi regime, calling his enemies cockroaches and vermin, saying that those who oppose him are poisoning the blood of America, and even calling for the execution of people who simply speak out against him."

Legal expert jokes about Jim Jordan 'Festivus' hearing: 'airing of Republican grievances'

    November 30, 2023 6:32PM ET

The push to expose bias on behalf of pre-X/Twitter (before Elon Musk purchased the site) is being mocked by former federal prosecutor Joyce Vance as the government's own version of Festivus.

During Wednesday's hearing, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Weaponization of the Federal Government, called out some social media companies as part of a "censorship industrial complex" and has been trying to expose the "governments' efforts to censor the American people."

And he touted Musk for calling Twitter after he purchased it "both a social media company and a crime scene."

The jovial tone of Vance's argument is a throwback to a Seinfeld episode harping on it getting out that George Constanza's dad invented a kind of anti-Christmas holiday to protest the over-saturation of consumerism and inspired the other characters to become Scrooges.

ALSO READ: Former GOP congressman invites scrutiny by using campaign cash for 'security'

"Technically, the Committee is meeting to commemorate the one year anniversary of the 'first Twitter Files report,'" writes Vance on her "Civil Discourse" Substack.

Twitter was purchased by billionaire Elon Musk who in turn shared internal documents to selected journalists to try and prove that Twitter’s content moderation had "an overwhelmingly left-leaning bias."

But Vance goes on to showcase how the findings fell far short of proving anything revelational.

"Despite the big push, the 'Twitter Files' turned out to be less than the promised bombshell," she writes.

She continued: "All hat, no cattle. Nonetheless, right wing figures, like über-conservative activist and president of Judicial Watch Tom Fitton, continue to this day to insist that the content was shocking, leading to tomorrow’s Festivus-style proceedings."

In her statement in the hearing today, Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands), ranking member of the subcommittee, delivered a severe rebuke of the hearing which invited as witnesses journalists Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, Rupa Subramanya, and Olivia Troye, a former Homeland Security Advisor and Counterterrorism Advisor.

"Republicans on this committee want to entrench their theory of social media censorship," she said. "There's no evidence of this collusion. And in fact this committee has heard closed door testimony from 29 witnesses who said on the record that government as well as social media individuals at that the alleged collusion and supposed censorship claimed by Republicans has not taken place."

"But Republicans won't release that testimony and they're not being honest with the American people."

Vance also called the hearing essentially a nothing burger and said a better use of time would be to "consider encouraging people to register to vote."

"We need elected representatives who are committed to working for us, not just showboating and trying to accumulate power for themselves," she added. "This hearing is a good reminder that our local elections, and those for members of Congress, can be just as important as picking a President."

She called the hearing an "airing of Republican grievances" aimed at the Democrats.
