Dan Goldman Slams Biden Bribery Allegations as Years-Old ‘Rehashing’ of Rudy Giuliani’s ‘Bogus’ Claims

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) tore into House Republicans on Wednesday for their “sensational allegations” that President Joe Biden received bribes, allegations Goldman slammed as an “uncorroborated rehashing of Rudy Giuliani’s bogus” claims from years past.

“We’ve heard so much about this FBI 1023 form and how it includes sensational allegations about a massive alleged bribery scheme by President Biden. So I was really eager to read that document this week. Did the majority actually find some actual evidence of wrongdoing by the president? Of course not,” Goldman began, adding:

This document that they will not stop talking about is shockingly just a three-year-old secondhand hearsay, uncorroborated rehashing of Rudy Giuliani’s bogus allegations that he got from Ukrainian corrupt Ukrainian officials. Now, we all know that former President Donald Trump was impeached because he tried to extort President Zelensky to announce an investigation into this Ukrainian company, Burisma, that would benefit Trump’s political campaign.

The theory goes that then vice president urged Ukraine to fire its prosecutor general because he was investigating Burisma and the president wanted to help his son, who was on the Burisma board. You know where Rudy Giuliani got this information from that fired prosecutor general himself, the corrupt prosecutor general.

Goldman, a former federal prosecutor who also worked on Trump’s first impeachment, made his remarks during a House Oversight hearing on regulations.


Goldman concluded his remarks by noting that Trump’s Justice Department along with the FBI decided not to pursue the allegations against the Bidens included in the 1023 form, which allegedly includes audio tapes.

“The Trump DOJ knew about these allegations, examined them, and declined to prosecute them because if they did prosecute them, they would have had, Bill Barr, would have had to appoint a special counsel to investigate the candidate for president, Joe Biden,” Goldman argued, concluding:

Republicans Acknowledge Biden Bribe Audio Might Not Exist

WASHINGTON — Several Republicans said this week that they don’t know if there really are tapes of Joe Biden talking about taking a bribe.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) revealed Monday that a tip the FBI received in 2020 said a foreign national who allegedly paid Biden $5 million has recordings of himself talking to Biden when he was vice president.

The audio purported to be a compelling new detail about the FBI tip, which Republicans have demanded be made public since learning of it last month.

At the same time, the uncertainty over whether the recordings actually exist is a reminder that while the tip came from a credible career informant, the informant’s source is someone else, and the underlying information, audio and all, remains unverified hearsay.


Speaking about the recordings on Newsmax Tuesday, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) said lawmakers “don’t know if they’re legit or not, but we know that the foreign national claims he has them.”

Comer pressured the FBI into showing his committee a redacted copy of the form during a private briefing last week. He said the June 2020 document, an FBI worksheet for recording tips from confidential human sources, indicates someone claimed to have paid Biden and his son Hunter $5 million in bribes several years prior.

The FBI has resisted handing over a copy of the form for public consumption, maintaining that such documents contain uncorroborated information and that releasing them can endanger sources.

The allegation that Biden was caught on tape has seemingly forced Republicans to remind an eager conservative media that the allegations might be untrue.

“We don’t know for sure if these tapes exist,” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said on “The Chris Salcedo Show” Wednesday when asked if Republicans would consider impeaching the president.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) suggested on a program called “The Conservative Circus” that not only might the tapes not exist, but also that the foreign national who spoke to the FBI informant might lack credibility. (Some Republicans on the Oversight Committee have said the source is former Burisma executive Mykola Zlochevksy, a fugitive Ukrainian oligarch.)

“We don’t know really if the tapes exist, we just don’t know that, whether this was just a bluff on the part of, whoever the executive was, I think it was Mykola Zlochevsky, the CEO of the... the corrupt oligarch,” Johnson said.

Burisma has been at the center of Republican attacks on Biden since 2019, when former President Donald Trump tried to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyrr Zelenskyy to announce a sham investigation into the Bidens. Joe Biden’s son Hunter served on Burisma’s board when Biden was vice president and advocated for the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor, a dynamic that Republicans described as a conflict of interest. The reality is that the prosecutor hadn’t been investigating Burisma and that his ouster had been a priority of both the U.S. and other Western countries.

During an Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) noted that Zlochevsky reportedly said in 2019 that he had had no contact with Joe Biden.

“The issue here is, is there any connection to President Biden? They have provided zero actual evidence to that effect,” Goldman told HuffPost after the hearing. “And yet they are smearing him with innuendo and debunked allegations to try to create the impression that then-Vice President Biden did anything wrong.”

Still, some lawmakers and right-wing media outlets are taking for granted that Biden took a bribe — especially as a diversion from the recent indictment against Trump for illegally retaining sensitive documents and obstructing an FBI investigation.

“Joe Biden caught on tape getting bribed and the Left looks the other way,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said on Twitter. “Donald Trump slow walks documents and they want to give him a death sentence.”

Grassley was able to reveal the document mentioned audio recordings because he and Comer had previously seen a version of the form with fewer redactions than the one the FBI brought to Capitol Hill last week. He told HuffPost he didn’t possess the less-redacted version, but that he was still trying to get it, and he thought it was suspicious that the existence of recordings would be redacted.

Grassley and other Republicans have suggested that the most important question is not necessarily whether the bribe allegation is true, but whether the FBI did its due diligence investigating the derogatory material against Biden as the bureau allegedly persecutes Trump and his supporters.

“Does the FBI follow up on it or not? Because the FBI ought to be able to answer the question for you and me, and the reason they ought to be able to answer it [is] because it’s an unclassified document,” Grassley said. “And what I hope to do is make this document public.”

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) tried to own Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) with a jab at President Joe Biden’s age, but it did not go well on Wednesday. (Watch the video below.)

Ocasio-Cortez mentioned Republican attempts to roll back the number of cockpit training hours required for commercial pilots to be licensed.

“I’m amused that the gentlelady is concerned about raising the age regulation that limits the age for pilots when there’s a shortage of pilots, but they’re OK with a president of the United States who’s more than 20 years older than the minimum age,” Comer said.

The progressive lawmaker quickly corrected him.

“Mr. Chairman, since you’re referring to me it’s not age. It’s training-hour time — the number of hours that an individual’s training, not the age.”

“Well, part of the regulation is the age as well,” Comer said in an attempted comeback.


Lawmakers have proposed fewer mandatory hours of cockpit training and more on simulators. Airlines have sought to modify the Federal Aviation Administration’s 1,500-hour training requirement for commercial pilots, enacted during the Obama administration after a 2009 crash that killed 50 people in western New York.

On Wednesday, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved an amendment to raise the mandatory pilot retirement age to 67 from 65. That stipulation would be added to a larger bill revisiting FAA safety guidelines.

Where in the constitution does it say that a president just has to think it, and ipsolorum, it is declassified!

There is actually a very well defined procedure that must be followed for a president to declassify something. First it has to be in writing. And then as you say all the relevant agencies have to be notified. For one they have to have a chance to give their input and explain why it should not be declassified if its going to reveal vital sources, methods And then as you say how are the agencies supposed to know if something has been declassified if that procedure is not followed.

And we also have the opposite example. Trump once tweeted that he was declassifying everything about the Russian collusion investigation. So of course the media jumped right on it and said ok hand over everything you've got. Because if its not classified by law they have to hand it over. That panicked the entire intelligence community and they turned around and said as far as we know none of this has been declassified because we have not been notified. That bought them enough time to get to Trump's inner circle to convince him not to follow through.

Rudy Giuliani says key Biden whistleblower no one has ever heard of has died

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have claimed that they saw an FBI document that reports a bribery and money laundering scheme by President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The document is called an FD-1023 form and it's what agents use when they get a tip from the public about a possible crime. There is reason to believe that Rudy Giuliani is the one who made that report, given comments in Bill Barr's autobiography.

Recently, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told the press that the report is an example of “secondhand hearsay.” Raskin also explained that the allegations only “surfaced after Rudy Giuliani was making particular allegations” about Ukraine and the Biden family in early 2020.

The FD-1023 form also suggests that there were tapes of the scheme, which is something Comer has floated. The problem for Comer, however, is that there are no tapes that have yet surfaced. The FBI doesn't have tapes. Giuliani doesn't have tapes. Comer and Grassley don't have tapes.

Newsmax continues to ask Grassley, Comer, and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) about the tapes, and even Johnson corrected Newsmax, saying that Grassley never said the tapes existed.

When he spoke to Newsmax on Saturday, Giuliani claimed that the person that told him about the bribery scheme was dead.

"I did tell them three years ago, and they followed up on none of the evidence I gave them," Giuliani said.

Barr refutes that, telling The Federalist last week, "it was sent to Delaware for further investigation." Nothing appears to have come from it.

"They were hoping that the people would just disappear or die," Giuliani claimed. "It's extraordinary. I gave them one witness that any investigator would jump through hoops to get to. Gave them a witness who was a woman, she was the chief accountant at this crooked company Burisma. She was the wife of the former owner, who died under suspicious circumstances. And she was willing to give up all of the off-shore bank accounts. Including the Bidens."

The owner he might be referring to is the wife of Mykola Lisin, who co-founded Burisma with Mykola Zlochevsky. The problem is Lisin died in 2011, before Giuliani went to Ukraine to start digging up information on Biden. In fact, 2011 is before Biden ever went to Ukraine and before Hunter Biden was named to the Burisma board.

The so-called "suspicious circumstances" were a car accident. Zlochevsky was the co-founder that a corrupt prosecutor was investigating.

Right-wing outlets appear to be reporting her death, but none seem to know her name. Giuliani claims she's dead from suspicious circumstances, but no reports have details on what they were either.

Fox's Sean Hannity appears to have done a report to the story, but that page is no longer available on his website. A cache shows the source was a site linked to the fake news publisher News PunchNews Punch. Their source is Giuliani. The report doesn't say her name or cause of death. It has an icon at the top reading "fact-checked."

Raw Story is unable to find the name of Mykola Lisin's wife or any other details about his family.

Grassley claimed on the Senate floor Monday that the so-called "tapes" she had were kept as "insurance."

"According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses fifteen audio recordings of phone calls between him and Hunter Biden. According to the 1023, the foreign national possesses two audio recordings of phone calls between him and then-Vice President Joe Biden. These recordings were allegedly kept as a sort of insurance policy for the foreign national in case he got into a tight spot. The 1023 also indicates that then-Vice President Joe Biden may have been involved in Burisma employing Hunter Biden," Grassley alleged.

"...Special Counsel Jack Smith has used a recording against former President Trump. Well, what’s U.S. Attorney Weiss doing with respect to these alleged Joe and Hunter Biden recordings that are apparently relevant to a high-stakes bribery scheme?" he continued.

So, the man who had the "tapes" of Biden purportedly died in 2011, three years before Biden first went to Ukraine and three years before Hunter Biden was put on the board of Burisma. The way Guiliani appears to explain it, the Burisma co-founder left those tapes to his wife when he died. But he doesn't appear to know her name. She just died of mysterious circumstances, which appear to be going unreported everywhere else.

House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) claimed Thursday that another source in the GOP’s Biden family probe has been missing ― for the last three years. The lawmaker complained to Fox News host Sean Hannity that MSNBCrides him over informants who have disappeared. (Watch the video below.)

Hannity asked Comer if he had any contact with an unidentified oligarch who claimed he bribed President Joe Biden as vice president.

Comer answered: “Unfortunately, nobody’s had any contact with him for the last three years. You know, MSNBC makes fun of me when I said that there are a lot of people that were involved in the Biden shenanigans that are currently missing. But with respect to this oligarch, we think we know where he is. He just hasn’t been seen in public in a long time, but we’re following the money.”

Comer raised eyebrows last month when he admitted to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that a key informant was missing. He chalked it up to the mystery person likely being in the “spy business.” Comer indicated that others also could not be found.

“Nine of the 10 people that we’ve identified that have very good knowledge with respect to the Bidens, they’re one of three things,” he said. “They’re either currently in court, they’re currently in jail or they’re currently missing.”

Republicans have produced no proof of shady dealings by the president in their investigation.

As for Comer’s concern about MSNBC razzing him, that will likely continue. After Comer confessed to Bartiromo, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough had a field day.

“Come on! You lost an informant? You lost the informant, the guy that you claimed gave you all this information that you built this entire charade on!” the host exclaimed.
