I haven't seen it yet, I doubt it's coming to Korea so I'll have to torrent it, but I'm sure it will be great. I loved Da Ali G Show.

I thought it was fucking hillarious. But now after reading about that law-suit it lost a little bit of the luster. Apparently the frat-boy thing wasn't random. They claim that the producers took em to a bar and got em a lil drunk so they'd be loose. It wasn't even their RV. If the whole movie is set-up that much then it wouldn't be nearly as funny in my opinion. But as of right now, i consider it HOlarious. In America, woman can choose who they have sex with. WHAAAAATTT?!?!?!?!? Favorite line of the movie.

 

It has been said on another forum that "It's too bad that Borat has become an unfunny parody of himself." I think that statement is mostly true. His old stuff is a lot more honest and improvised; it's becomming too much of an act.

 

I think a lot of people say that because how big he got and so fast. He went from an unknown to star in like 2 weeks. It seems like he went and talked to EVERY single talk show from leno to daily show. I think we've become a weird society like that. We shove it down our throats hardcore for a little while then out of nowhere we get tired of it and move on. It seems to happen with a lot of things.

The movie had its moments. Overall I would say it was funny, not quite hilarious. but funny.

 

I have caught bits and pieces of Borat on TV but I've not seen the film yet. If the film is like the TV work he's done it's well thought out and exposes attitudes and practices that need exposed, in a way that just risicules them so completely, so I expect that when I see it (which will be when it comes out on DVD over here) that I'll find it hilarious.

And as for "Borat" hating America: Borat's creator, Sascha Baron-Cohen, is a very bright, British, Jewish comedian. When he finds a guns shop owner willing to provide his creation with "The best gun to kill Jew" then he can probably be forgiven for not being overly keen on certain elements within American Society. But does he hate the whole country and every American? I think he's too clever to be capable of such a sweeping generalisation.

 

He was recently assaulted in New York. Him and Hugh Laurie from House were in NY doing an episode of SNL and "Borat" went up to a dude and asked him if he could buy his clothes cause he wanted to have sex with them, and the guy punched him in the face!

 

Now if that story is true then it a) makes me laugh
and
b) Makes the bloke who punched him look a bit of a tit.

 

It has a lot of funny moments, but on the whole, it left me thinking it was utterly pointless and, at times, just plain guh-ROSS!

 

The movie was ridiculously offensive and obscenely disgusting. I don't care about offensive because without making fun of somebody, humor would be really bland. However, it got a little over the top when him and his friend ran through the motel naked fighting. That was just stupid. I think he would've been killed at the Rodeo, too.
