Very true, however you yourself are living proof that it can have the opposite effect.
One of my aunties was a real pot head, and her daughter never would touch the stuff, so I've seen this dynamic in action.

True but it takes a lot of strength to do so. I have seen examples of the opposite effect of me. But remember this, knowledge is power, and he who has power can and will most likely use it. To make others follow those who have that power they make others ignorant. Don't believe me? Ok I am sorry but no religion is ever EVER a good counter argument by any means what so ever. When it comes to being able to see logic then it has to come from you not what some one is telling you an all powerful being sitting on some clouds told them is logical. And if you really believe that then I have a message for you, God told me you fail at life and your children are going to become drug addicts after you die from getting a paper cut from the stamps you collect. (Sorry if I am putting any one group down because that isn't my intent I just hate how people use religion to justify their actions instead of taking responsibility for themselves.)

I'm a strange bird: I oppose censorship on principle, to the point where I bend the rules just to bend them, and have flirted with the ban-hammer several times as a result.

And yet, the subject matter in discussion here, taken to the extremes that can be found readily elsewhere on the Internet (everyone knows where) make my skin crawl.

Above I have called the arguments here "rationalizations." No doubt many will take offense.

But, to show what I mean, I propose a friendly poll. Not that we should actually do it, but just a "conceptual poll," as a thought exercise.

Imagine this poll, which would necessarily have to hide the identities of respondees:

I'm not sure what's so sanctimonious about citing the first amendment.
Although some people (mistakenly) consider it sacrosanct, it's simply a clause in a legal document.
Although there are exceptions, making threats, inciting people to commit crimes, it's meant to protect our freedom to say pretty much anything we want.

As i pre-teen i was molested by my uncle and he payed for it, so i am against pedos who force themselves or trick children (0-15years old) into sick perverted games.

nobody on here knows for sure that any story is fictional. it could be completely true. even if the author says it is fiction.

how do we know it's not real ? we don't. nobody knows if we are talking about real people/events or not.

i certainly hope it isn't real and all fiction but it is impossible to know.
