Let me point out something else to you.

You will not only see the usual NRA characters on this thread. You will also see people you never seen before. All preaching the NRA line. Which is to keep some initials and phrases out of the discussion.

    AR-15 and assault weapon/

Yeah, can't be hurting those gun sales.

STUMBLES people kill people not guns. One sick individual out of 350 million . All this shit has to stop if the media wouldn't give these people so much attention . You would see this stuff slow down. Considerably . This shit didn't happen when i was a kid. The reason . because people had respect for one another . Something that hasn't been taught in school for 40 years .

Muslim groups raise money for victims after Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

Just one day after the mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, two Muslim groups have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the victims and their families.

The nonprofits Celebrate Mercy and MPower Change on Saturday created a crowdfunding campaign for the Tree of Life synagogue victims on LaunchGood, a Muslim crowdsourcing site. The campaign passed its original fundraising goal of $25,000 within six hours, and then its new goal of $50,000 within 24 hours, according to the page. As of Sunday afternoon, it has raised nearly $80,000 from more than 1,800 donors.

Once a final goal is hit, Celebrate Mercy said it will immediately transfer funds to the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, which will work with Tree of Life to send the funds to victims to help with medical and funeral expenses.

The campaign's organizers did not immediately return a call from CBS News.

GoFundMe also created a certified charity campaign for Pittsburgh victims, which has raised more than $400,000 so far toward a $1 million goal.

The Anti-Defamation League said the Pittsburgh rampage is the deadliest attack on Jews in American history. The shooting left 11 people and six people injured, including four police officers, after suspected gunman Robert Bowers allegedly ambushed Saturday services with an AR-15 rifle and three handguns.

An affidavit said that after his surrender, Bowers told an officer, "I just want to kill Jews" and that Jews were "committing genocide to my people."

In the weeks before the shooting, Bowers avidly posted anti-Semitic content on the social network Gab, including threats, Holocaust denials and a vast array of conspiracy theories.

Bowers faces 29 federal counts for the shooting.

Jewish Leaders: Trump Not Welcome in Pittsburgh Until He Denounces White Nationalism

A Jewish progressive group sent a letter to Donald Trump on Sunday saying the president is not welcome in Pittsburgh until he denounces white nationalism following the massacre at a synagogue in the city.

Eleven members of the Pittsburgh affiliate of Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice conceded that Trump called the murderer evil, but said in the letter that “yesterday’s violence is the direct culmination of your influence.”

Emphasizing that Trump is “not welcome in Pittsburgh until you fully denounce white nationalism,” the group wrote that “Our Jewish community is not the only group you have targeted. You have also deliberately undermined the safety of people of color, Muslims, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. Yesterday’s massacre is not the first act of terror you incited against a minority group in our country.”

The letter told Trump “the murderer’s last public statement invoked the compassionate work of the Jewish refugee service HIAS at the end of a week in which you spread lies and sowed fear about migrant families in Central America.”

The San Diego and Jewish World reported that Bend The Arc put out a statement on Saturday that the “attack comes after weeks of escalated conspiracy theories and rhetoric scapegoating Jewish people, including philanthropist George Soros, which have been driven by candidates for office, arms of the Republican Party, and the President of the United States in campaign ads and at rallies.”

The statement continued that rarely has this "been legitimized by such a powerful and visible platform. The mainstreaming of white nationalism in American politics means that our nation is ripe for the type of violence we have witnessed today, this week and throughout the Trump presidency.”

Since Trump's inauguration there have been 16 incidence of right wing violence. 40 have died and over 50 have been seriously wounded. Right Wing hate groups (NeoNazi's, white nationalist etc) and anti government groups (yes there is some crossover) are now the number 2 terrorist organizations in our country. Since 1990 right wing hate and anti government (groups or loners) have killed more than 210 US citizens this includes the Oklahoma City bombing. Not to leave left wing extremists out of the picture they have killed 23 in that time period (1990 to 2018). Please note that the Sandyhook massacre and the Colorado theater shootings have been left out because the shooter showed no signs of belonging to one or another of the aforementioned hate groups.

Nearly all of the right wing hate and the anti government organizations support the Republican party. The surprising thing is that none of the left wing extremists groups support the Democratic party and no BLM is not an extremist group no matter what you right wingers think.

An AR is not an assault weapon, that is where you leftists lose your argument.

Assault weapons have been banned for decades.

Any weapon can be an assault weapon if it is used to assault someone, the AR-15 is not a hunting purposed firearm nor is it meant for sport use, it was designed and intended for military use. Spin that as you wish.

While the AR doesn't stand for 'assault rifle' - it stands for Armalite Rifle - the AR-15 is considered an assault weapon in most jurisdictions.

Assault weapon is a term used in the United States to define some types of firearms. The definition varies among regulating jurisdictions, but usually includes semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, and sometimes other features such as a flash suppressor or barrel shroud.

The AR-15 has all of those.

The Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB), officially the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act, is a subsection of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, a United States federal law, which included a prohibition on the manufacture for civilian use of certain semi-automatic firearms that were defined as assault weapons as well as certain ammunition magazines that were defined as "large capacity."

The 10-year ban was passed by the US Congress on September 13, 1994, following a close 52–48 vote in the US Senate, and was signed into law by US President Bill Clinton on the same day. The ban applied only to weapons manufactured after the date of the ban's enactment. It expired on September 13, 2004, in accordance with its sunset provision.

An assault ''style'' weapon is not an assault weapon, and some jurisdictions are in violation of the 2nd.

Prior to 1989, the term "assault weapon" did not exist in the lexicon of firearms. It is a political term, developed by anti-gun publicists to expand the category of "assault rifles."

I suppose America will not change their gun laws, it is part and parcel of life in America. Personally I don't think that it is guns that kills people, it is people that kill people using any method, from guns to knifes to hands etc. It is education against hate and prejudice that could make a difference but that will take time and money while politicians prefer to go for the easy subjects and the quick results. A simple keeping the door closed would have made a huge difference as is the case in many synagogues around the world. I am Dutch, live in Israel where many civilians own guns as well and yes, sometimes it makes a difference but usually only after the initial act. This is the world we live in, better get used to is. The chance of dying in a car accident is still much higher and we still drive cars right ? Of course our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims and it was moving to see how the community all together came together for a vigil and how Muslims react also collecting funds to assist. People inherently are good, just some got derailed on the way. Let's continue and believe in the good of people and may God bless us with peace.

    You see.
The only important thing , is that you get your terms absolutely correct to the satisfaction of the lobby.

It's so absolutely important that an AR 15 is categorised correctly ,
that no other discussion shall be entered into .

But of course , it is imperative that we correctly identify the type of weapon used to slaughter women and children . before we begin to discuss
whether we should stop slaughtering women and children,

    before we consider how to
    (stop slaughtering women and children)

The gun has nothing to do with it . The problem is the hate that is taught in our schools . Our music . No has parents anymore . Perents don't want to be parents People tell people its ok to do anything you wamt go aheag no consequences . The problem with society nowadays is , there's no problem with society . Lol If you really want to place blame on a President . We had 8 yrs of a President that like criminals run rampant through the cities and praised them for doing so . he told the whole country to ignore the law and all police officers for bad . A real great guy . He was the guy who could have put a fast stop to all of this shit . But he decided to support hate and discontent

What I do find funny about most of these self declared 2nd amendmenters is that they forget where I am from; I grew up hunting, fishing, shooting, and loving all things outdoors. I do not want to eliminate our rights to have a weapon at all, I do want COMMON FUCKING SENSE TO BE USED.

Mental issues can be treated the morons are just doomed to remain the same way forever, but they both have one simple thing in common, they are dangerous to the societies in which they live. And because they are dangerous we have a responsibility to ensure that they not be given a firearm that is capable of firing 30 rounds. Would you give a AR15 to a monkey?

Assault guns were created in WW2. They were designed to spray bullets all over the place to supress infantry. They are not a precision weapon. As the great Samuel L Jackson said, "when you absolutely, definately want to kill every motherfucker in the room, accept no substitute" There is absolutely no need for any civilian to have one. If you insist on you 2nd Amnendment rights, get yourself a smooth bore flintlock musket.
